Divided Opinions: Trade or Draft? True or False? Fill in the Blank!

A.E.M.: So, believe it or not, we have made it to a week of this show. Can you believe it?

Da Beat: Well, I am trying at all costs to keep it going; if you could do the same, we might make it another week!

A.E.M.: Okay, okay, so what are we doing in tonight’s edition of NFL Draft University’s Divided Opinions? I know you had an idea.

Da Beat: Yes, tonight we are going to do three different type of “games.” In this first part, we are doing to play “trade or draft.” I will begin. Trade Romo for the No. 1 pick?

A.E.M.: If it were not where Parcells was I might think about it, but with the Tuna there, I have to go “draft.” McNabb for the Falcons’ No. 1 pick?

Da Beat: Damn, that is tough. I would say having a veteran quarterback would be great, but mortgaging the future for McNabb and his nagging injuries? I will go: “draft.” Dallas’ two first round picks for Miami’s top pick?

A.E.M.: I have said this before: “trade.” The Dolphins need the help, and the more picks the better. Adding maybe a third pick, either a third rounder in 2008 or a 2009 pick would make the trade perfect. For the Pats, giving up their pick and a player in order to move up for a solid offensive lineman?

Da Beat: They lost the Super Bowl because they could not protect Brady, but that line is not that bad. I would have to think about this depending on which player you are trading, but I would say: “draft.” Last one, the world champs dropping down from 31st for maybe two lower picks?

A.E.M.: At that point, two-fer could be a wild move. That would make sense, so I say: “trade.” And now I say let’s go to a commercial…

Da Beat: Welcome back to the second part of Divided Opinions. Let’s get rolling.

A.E.M.: Yes, tonight’s second segment is called “true or false.” Here is an example. Matt Ryan is going to become a top-notch quarterback.

Da Beat: True. He is going to become a Hall of Famer.

A.E.M.: Yikes, I will say false. McFadden will become an All Pro before anyone else in this draft.

Da Beat: True. He will be the leading rusher in the league within seven years from now.

A.E.M.: False, he is not going to be a full-time back. The two Longs (Jake and Chris) will both become high-level players at their positions.

Da Beat: True, but I am not sure about the Hall of Fame for either. Dan Connor is going to be a great linebacker wherever he goes.

A.E.M.: True. Flacco could be the best quarterback after Ryan and Brohm.

Da Beat: I am going to say, hmm, true. I do like him and I think that he will be given a chance. Going to a stronger team than others might give him a shot to succeed. Last one, four or more flops in the first round.

A.E.M.: Man, four? I say: false. Okay, one more break and then the finish…

This segment is brought to you by Roster Magazine. In a week the fantasy baseball draft kit is coming out! Do not be left out, learn the game from MVN’s experts. Use them to help you win! You want to know how much smarter you become with this draft kit? People will ask you if you stayed at a Holiday Inn!

Da Beat: This part of Divided Opinions is called—pretty simply—”fill in the blank.” I will begin: Bill Parcells will eventually ____.

A.E.M.: …take over as head coach because he just can’t help himself. The Atlanta Falcons need a big draft because ____.

Da Beat: …without Michael Vick they do not have a player to put butts in the seats and people did love Mike. The Wonderlic test is like ____.

A.E.M.: …a smoke and mirrors thing done for the convenience of teams and the NFL. The best thing that can happen to the Dolphins on draft day is ____.

Da Beat: …that some teams makes a ridiculous trade with them and they do not make the mistake in picking a flop. Felix Jones is going to be ____.

A.E.M.: …fun to watch, but make sure you pay attention because he might not play that much. Last one, Jerry Jones and Al Davis will ____.

Da Beat: …find a way to ruin their drafts, then blame some coach and go off on their high and mighty horse.

A.E.M.: And that is it, we are on our high and mighty horse and heading on out of here—until tomorrow that is!
