Eagles Release Bethel Johnson
According to the Philadelphia Daily News, the Eagles have released wideout Bethel Johnson (scroll to bottom of article), who the team signed in the off-season as a potential return guy. It turns out that Johnson has a stress fracture of his fibula, and can’t even pass a physical at this point. He could return to the team later if a need develops for an extra receiver/returner. Interestingly, the release isn’t mentioned on the team’s transaction page, but you may notice that rookie free agent Perry Patterson was signed on Tuesday and then released yesterday. The undrafted QB from Syracuse obviously didn’t immediately impress the coaching staff in the same way a certain fellow Syracuse QB did a few years ago…
