SI Cover Jinx for Sheldon Brown?
The season hasn’t even started yet, and we already have a possible Sports Illustrated cover jinx. Sheldon Brown’s bruising hit on Reggie Bush in last year’s playoff loss to the Saints illustrates a cover story about big hits. According to Tim Layden’s piece, the Eagles were preparing for the “hot” flare route the rookie RB was running. As soon as Dhani Jones blitzed on the play, Drew Brees’ read was to go to Bush, but Brown was ready to swoop down on Bush (though the Saints had thought he would be covering receiver Terrance Copper down the field). While Bush says he wasn’t hit as hard as on that play throughout his high school and college careers, he still managed to bounce up and break off a long touchdown run the following week in Chicago during the NFC Championship game. So Brown won the battle, but the Saints won the war. Now let’s look forward to whatever freak injury or other random event will befall one of our starting corners thanks to his being an SI cover boy.

Eagles sign Kevin Kolb.
Plus - lots of players are on the cover of SI and don’t have injuries or bad luck. that is so stoopid. Now, if Brown was on the cover of Madden, then I’d be worried.
