Seahawks @ Eagles In-Game Analysis
1st Quarter
AJ Feeley right off the bat shows why he is an NFL backup and not starting somewhere with a PATHETIC throw. Lofa had great coverage all the way blanketing LJ Smith and AJ tries to needle in a pass Joe Montana couldn’t make. Right off the bat in the red zone and the Seahawks cash in 7-0.
The Eagles answer back with a nice drive set up with the running game. Westbrook breaks through the middle for a few then a beautiful fake reverse to Westbrook and Buck takes it 30 yards to the house making a few defenders look silly in the process and we’re all tied up at 7 with 10 minutes left in the 1st.
Lofa picks off AJ Feeley again on another HORRIBLE pass. Lofa returns it to the Eagles 10. 3rd down and goal from the 12 and a coverage breakdown and the score is AJ Feeley/Seahawks 14 Eagles 7 with 7 minutes left in the 1st.
David “Green” Akers boots threw a 31 yard field goal and we have a shootout at the Linc in the nasty weather. 14-10 Seahawks
2nd Quarter
Josh Brown sucks wind missing his 5th attempt in the last 9 and the score remains 14-10 Seahawks after a nice sustained drive goes to waste.
The Seahawks get the ball back and a breakdown in coverage leads to an easy 50 yard touchdown pass to Nate Burleson as he walks in untouched. Well it seems the Eagles have come out flat and reverting to their old ways instead of picking up the momentum from last week. 21-10 Seahawks
AJ Feeley makes a nice pass to cap HUGE answer back drive. Kevin Curtis on the other end of the connection and it’s 21-17 Seahawks with over 9 minutes left in the 2nd. Wow, can’t say I saw 38 points in over 20 minutes of play in these conditions.
A monsterous goal line stand for the Seahawks on 4th and goal at the 1 keeps the Hawks out in fron 21-17 at the half. Two straight weeks now the Hawks have a huge goal line stand, last week in the 4th quarter keeping the Rams out of the end zone to preserve the win.
3rd Quarter
Brian Westbrook breaks a 30 yarder taking it to the house and Eagles come out of the gate very strong taking the 24-21 lead.
Poor tackling and defensive breakdowns again lead to Maurice Morris going for the long touchdown. Both defensive squads are really struggling making the plants on juke moves today. Seahawks take the 28-24 lead. Maurice Morris really looks more explosive and frankly better than Shaun Alexander right now.
AJ Feeley makes a questionable decision on 3rd and 5 throwing into double coverage in the end zone and it hits the back of a Seahawk defender. David Akers misses the 49 yard attempt wide to the right. I have to admit David has really gone from a near automatic kicker to a really average field goal kicker in the last two years. I think the Eagles need to really bring some guy in the off-season to seriously push David.
After a punt putting the Seahawks in good field position the first play from scrimmage Hasselbeck throws an interception on a nice defensive play by Sheldon Brown. Let’s see if the Birds can do something with it. Three minutes left in the 3rd. Wow and I’m at a loss for words as AJ Feeley throws directly to the Seattle defender and blows a good looking drive as Seattle is set up near the Birds 50 again. Terrible.
4th Quarter
Quiet start to the 4th with both teams trading punts. A holding call stalls a drive Seattle drive and the Birds get the ball with 8 minutes to go. The season may very well rest on the next 8 minutes. Yet another three and out and the Eagles punt with 630 left and the season is slowly slipping away. One last gasp for the Eagles with the usual horrid clock management at the end of the game. 3rd and 11 with 230 left and a 4 yard pass. That is simply pathetic play calling. 4th and 7 and AJ floats a ball up that Curtis had no chance at. The Eagles season ladies and gentlemen just went down the toilet.
The Eagles let the clock run down to the 2 minute warning during their 4th down play. How the team 3 years removed continues to make basic clock management errors is beyond me. The Eagles will get the ball back after burning their three timeouts left with about 90 seconds left and presumably 80-90 yards to go. Sounds like another Feeley pick coming up to me.
OH MY GOD I HATE AJ FEELEY
What a pathetic game he blew. Westbrook runs the punt back to the Seahawk 15 and AJ Feeley takes a sack he needed to throw away then 2 plays later like the piece of junk QB he is threw it to Totupu for his 3rd pick of the game and 4th by Feeley.

Tell me again, why is Jeff Garcia not on this team?

where do other “almost done with their careers” players go Tampa bay

Garcia has been hurt as well this year Anthony. Garcia played well but really was a 1 or maybe 2 year option for the team.

Anthony - Plus, Garcia wouldn’t have stayed here anyway. At most Garcia was a 1-year/2-year player here. I believe he got a 3 year deal from TB. Plus, you can’t pay your back up QB that much money.
If you are Garcia, why would you have stayed??? He got more security, more money and a chance to start in TB. Its not as easy has just “signing” a guy. He has to want to stay, and it has to make sense. Even if the Eagles matched years and money (and they wouldn’t have matched years, why would they?), Garcia would have left for the change to start.
And remember, Garcia missed a BUNCH of WIDEOPEN WRs in the NO game. If Garcia plays better in NO, the Eagles play the Bears in Championship game, not NO. So Garcia isn’t perfect.

Agreed Bryan. Man I never expected AJ Feeley to be that bad yesterday. Terrible play calling didn’t help but all four picks were terrible and gimme’s. That being said how many “gimme’s” has our defense dropped this year (see Takeo Spikes on Seattle 1st Drive)
