AFC Playoff Outlook
There are three weeks left in the year and plenty of playoff spots are up for grabs. Here’s my look at how it may shakeout. . .
AFC:
1. New England - Wins over Indy, Dallas, Pitt, San Diego, Buffalo (x2), Cleveland. Obviously 13-0 is amazing but look at the list of teams they’ve gone through to get to this point. Amazing season to date and undoubtedly the favorite.
2. Indy - Went into a mid-season lull but have seemed to come alive. The bye week may help them more than any team in the league. Despite not having Freeney they will be a force come playoff time.
3. Pitt - Up and down team. Very dangerous squad when they put it together. I don’t think many can argue with the Mike Tomlin hire. He has that team with the same old Steeler attitude. Capable of a similar 2005 title run if they put it together.
4. San Diego - Terribly disappointing year for the Chargers. LT has been bottled up and the Schottenheimer issue has blown up in their face. When they bow out early this year does Norv get the axe? After all a precedent was set.
5. Jacksonville - I love this squad and think they can match up well with anyone in the league with their physical style. I don’t think they can string enough offense together but they should perform better than last years beat down in New England.
6. Cleveland - The game of the week in the NFL should be in Cleveland this week. Yes I said it. The 8-5 Browns host the 7-6 Bills in a huge showdown for the final AFC playoff spot. Tennessee sits at 7-6 as well but I like the Browns to beat Buffalo and secure the final spot over the final three weeks.
