Quick Birds-Boys postgame thoughts
Philly 10 Dallas 6
Philadelphia defied all logic and went into Dallas to get the victory today. The offense was consistently in Dallas territory all day and should have put this one away long before McNabb’s pass to Celek late wrapped it up. Philadelphia got pressure on Romo all day and Tony struggled to hit his men. Much will be made about the thumb of Romo, those things tend to linger and be very problematic for a few weeks.
Owens wasn’t able to run free underneath like he was in the first game and the Eagles forced Romo to make plays down the field he was not able to make. Injuries to Andre Gurode, Chris Canty, and others will have to be monitored as the Eagles may have done more serious damage to Dallas’ playoff hopes with those injuries.
The officials made an absolutely terrible call not flagging the blatant helmet to helmet hit that took Schobel out of the game. You can expect to see a decent fine for the defender. No excuse or place for that kind of stuff in the game. I love brutal hits of the CLEAN variety.
Brian Westbrook was able to make a play here and there despite being bottled up for much of the game. McNabb missed a few guys but overall made the plays when they had to be made. Showed some decent scrambling abilities at times.
The defense was phenomenal. The two interceptions (not counting Mikell’s) were the difference in the game and they had a chance at a few more. Also couldn’t get the bounces on a pair of Romo fumbles. Played very well and should be used as a blueprint to stop Dallas for potential playoff teams. The playoffs remain a pipe dream but they are still off in the distance. The birds will have to get a ton of help elsewhere but can help themselves with a win over New Orleans next week.

Huge win, makes you wonder “what if” on a couple of close games we lost! Still, a tremendous help to the morale of the team and the city….
