Michael Strahan: I Wanna Be Like Tiki Barber
Okay, so Michael Strahan didn’t really say that, but he sure is acting like it. Oddly enough, I’m not even talking about the retirement drama or the media nonsense; I’m talking about his book!
That’s right, like Tiki, Strahan has written a “tell all” book that will be released on October 9th.
Sure to be controversial, Strahan’s account reveals never-before-seen details about the truth of life in the NFL, including the names of the dirtiest players, what it feels and sounds like to crush another player, which potent painkillers players take in order to return to the battlefield, the wild parties such as the Vikings’ infamous Love Boat romp, the pressure to live up to a multimillion- dollar salary, the intense and sometimes volatile relationship between player and coach, and the violent blowups that occur when that pressure gets too intense.
I don’t know what it is with these two, but you have to wonder if it’s their goal to make the Giants look as bad as possible. Even more worrisome is the fact that they’ve played for New York and only New York throughout their NFL careers. So, ask yourself, who will these books damage the most? Certainly not the Cowboys or the Redskins.
Additionally, this sheds some light on Strahan’s holdout. If he does announce his return in the next 24-48 hours, I’ll have to chalk his holdout up to trying to generate more interest in his book.
Note: I don’t really think Strahan and Barber are intentionally trying to damage the Giants organization, I just think that their greed far outweighs their respect for the team that made them.
Other Giants News:
Thanks to G101 reader “The G Man” for the heads up on this.
SI.com’s Peter King ranked the top 500 NFL players and 19 Giants landed on the list. Again, it is Peter King, so take it all with a grain of salt. But, it’s fun to check out nonetheless.
Personal Note:
I am sorry for the lack of updates. I really am doing the best I possibly can to keep G101 updated. I am finishing school, working three jobs and trying to sustain some semblance of a personal life.
I realize that your frustrations aren’t specifically directed at me, but none of the writers have any desire to write anymore because anyone not named Hazem (and that is not a knock on him whatsoever) gets comments like “This sucks, where’s Hazem?”
Most of you are new here so we ignore it, but it gets old after a while. I’ve run this site (by myself for the most part) for three full years and the disrespect shown lately has been discouraging to not just me, but to all the writers, Hazem included.

Hang in there Dan, all of us take G101 updates for granted, and we should feel lucky to enjoy any of them that come our way.
August 29th, 2007 at 11:51 am
Thanks for the update Dan. I didn’t mean to be an ass asking for one. I am just really really bored at work, and I enjoy anything new on the Giants. To me every article on here I enjoy and will never rip because its about my beloved Giants. That’s something I think we all should have in common. And haters give the writers a break if you disagree with something a writer says to rip the person’s integrity as a writer. You can disagree with someone but don’t insult one of the writers. These guys do a great job keeping us updated every day about our favorite team give them a break. Keep up the good work fellas.
August 29th, 2007 at 11:52 am
check the updates daily but rarely comment, seriously if your life so pathetic that you have time to comment “this sucks” to a jints blog someone needs to get a grip on reality
August 29th, 2007 at 11:57 am
Dan just brush off the haters. You guys do a great job and give me my Giants fix on the regular, so much I even keep up with our Fan House blogs as well. Only when the haters come out can you be assured that you are doing your thing. As long as you guys keep writing I’ll keep on reading. Do any of the other writers blog anywhere else??
August 29th, 2007 at 11:58 am
Dan,
I will put a vote on the “dirtiest player” poll for Jon “Ragdoll” Runyan.
FYI - giants101.com is not correctly pointed to this site.
August 29th, 2007 at 12:02 pm
Brian - Thanks a ton for letting me know that! I’ll try to get that fixed ASAP. I truly apologize to everyone who uses that URL.
August 29th, 2007 at 12:06 pm
Dan, I have to agree about the large amount of negative comments people post to the writers. Unfortunately on the internet, a large majority of comments made anywhere are negative, I’m sure it has to do with the fact that they can hide behind their computers. But if people didn’t like your site in general, you wouldn’t get all the traffic that comes here. Sure, someone’s going to disagree with the articles, I’m sure you know that, and that’s not what bothers you, it’s the comments that bash the writers in general that annoys you. But I hope I speak for the large group of supporters of G101 when I say all the writers are doing an excellent job, whether or not everyone agrees with the stance taken in the articles.
August 29th, 2007 at 12:10 pm
“This sucks, where’s Hazem?” j/k, LOL! You guys all do a good job. I hope you know that. We, well l, appreciate G101 so please guys keep it up.
August 29th, 2007 at 12:13 pm
Dan,
Just found this site this year and this is my first comment. Ignore the idiots. You guys are as objective as possible while still being Giants fans and really do provide great insight. I’m overseas and have been looking for this kind of info for 3 years.
Keep it up guys. I for one truly appreciate the effort.
August 29th, 2007 at 12:14 pm
This is the first I’ve heard of this book. This will be nothing but trouble. They may as well just cut Strahan, let the Redskins pick him up, and then he can act like the clubhouse lawyer he is. Washington is the perfect backdrop for this shithead.
August 29th, 2007 at 12:20 pm
That top 500 list is an absolute joke. Antonio Pierce ranked 82nd??? Friggin Kamerion Wimbley is ranked ahead of him for God’s sake. What is that crap? Shockey 138th, behind Witten and Crumpler? Also, Matt Leinart ahead of Eli? Strahan 164th? The guy is still the most dominant defensive player in the league when healthy and he gets this ranking? I’m not even gonna bother to finish reading this..the list is a complete joke.
August 29th, 2007 at 12:21 pm
This truly is a great site. All the writers do a fantastic job. I live in Maryland, where the only regular Giants news I get is from the internet. This site puts your own spin on things from the regular stories read eveywhere else, which is excellent. Keep up the great work, please.
August 29th, 2007 at 12:21 pm
Dan, found this site in July and since then I check it 5 times a day, and every time a new post is up I drop everything I’m doing and read about the G-Men. Don’t let the haters get to you, they’re probably all Cowboy fans in disguise or even worse Eagle fans.
Keep up the good work!
August 29th, 2007 at 12:21 pm
All the negativity is exactly why I dont comment too often. There’s always someone that wants to start a fight when all you’re trying to do is state your opinion. I still visit the site everyday but it’s just for updates but not to speak my mind anymore. But you and the other writers are doing a fantastic job so hang in there and keep up the good work. The losers will work their way out.
August 29th, 2007 at 12:24 pm
Yeah that list is a joke. Any ranking that has Wes Welker ranked ahead of Michael Strahan, Eli Manning, Jeremy Shockey, and Plaxico Burress is a joke. This guy has his head so far up the Patriots ass its not even funny.
August 29th, 2007 at 12:26 pm
Dan, I refrain from posting anymore but i read all the articles everyday and i also appreciate all the updates you, Haz, et al, provide us. Keep up the good work.
Go Giants!!!
August 29th, 2007 at 12:33 pm
It’s not said often enough but THANKS to you Dan and all the rest of the writers. I check here daily for my G’men fix and appreciate every new posting. Please keep up the good informative work it keeps me from suffering withdrawals.
August 29th, 2007 at 12:34 pm
About Strahan,,Is anybody else starting to think he is hideing his foot injury all summer….I am really starting to think he i not fully healed and has not wanted the organization to see that..
At this point you cant tell me he needs more time to think,he has had all summer, and he knows the giants are not going to pay him more..So comon what is the deal already..
I hope his foot is ok,but at this point maybe that is the problem, he doesent want the giants to see..
Well regardless this is rediculus, the guy has to make a decision….
August 29th, 2007 at 12:40 pm
I think you guys all do a great job. But whats that old phrase opinions are like A$$holes everyones got one and most of them smell. Maybe not everyone who reads your site agrees with your opinion, and you have to understand that that’s fine. I mean what you guys are doing is writing editorials about the giants, and then giving people a chance to respond to your opinions. You have to expect that not everyone that reads the site will love everything you think. But some of us do, so please continue!
August 29th, 2007 at 12:41 pm
I say don’t even wait for Strahan to make a decision. I have no desire to see him in Giants blue after all of these shenanagins. Just cut him. Tuck is doing a good job. Strahan is pretty much done anyways.
August 29th, 2007 at 12:49 pm
Burress at #242? Way too low. Burress was the most consistant WR last year, having at least 100 yards or 1 td in 73% of his games, next closest was TO.
August 29th, 2007 at 12:50 pm
Guys - I am as mad at Strahan as anyone but we need to get over it. Think of the possibilities we’ll have with 3 very strong pass rushers on the team and on the field at one time.
We do want him back even though his timing and motives were questionable. This is one of those times where we simply must bite the bullet and welcome him back once he comes back. We’re better with him. I’m ready to get over it.
August 29th, 2007 at 12:51 pm
Sorry Dan - I meant to comment on you guys as well. This site is fantastic and you guys do a very nice job. Please keep it up!
August 29th, 2007 at 12:58 pm
Dan - Just keep doing your thing.
Having been on this site for about 2-3 years now, I’ve never seen such inappropriate comments from the “old” members, but some of the “new” users have been pretty ignorant.
Please show some respect.
Anyway, on to football.
Quite frankly, I’d rather see Tuck at defensive end, rather than Strahan.
Let’s be frank. The Giants aren’t quite Super Bowl ready.
If we were, then I’d want Strahan, who’s a proven veteran and a playmaker.
Nevertheless, Strahan’s career as an NFL player is all but over. In a few years, at the most, he’s going to have to call it quits.
I’d rather take the lumps with Tuck and see him improve, so that when the Giants are ready to contend for the Super Bowl, Tuck would be a good player by then, rather than being someone who’s just getting some experience under his belt.
August 29th, 2007 at 1:01 pm
At this point, I would like to see Strahan traded, to some AFC team, for a 3rd or 4th rounder, we need more youth & there is a deep draft this upcoming year at the O-Line positions…… 1. I believe Strahan’s injury in not fully healed, hence the holdout to the last week before the season starts 2. I never believed the holdout was about money, yes his wife took him to the cleaners, but realize he’s made a good amount of money in advertising over the years (he’s not poor or broke) 3. He’s obviously not about cohesiveness of “his” team, or what he’s claimed to be his “D” over the last 10 years
I think he’s coming back BUT I hope the Giants FO gives him a physical, before bringing him on board, because it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s looking for that one, last, paycheck ………
August 29th, 2007 at 1:07 pm

Dan:
I have been a reader of this blog since January. Its the first thing I turn to when I access the net. Please don’t take the small-minded comments from some of the readers as an indication of how the masses feel. I certainly understand that you and your mates that post on the blog are doing this as a labor of love. And that should be remembered by everyone on this site when people feel compelled to post a reply. But that is often expecting too much from the masses who all too often will not put their name to a comment.
Once again, thanks for your efforts and I look forward to reading more from you in the days to come.

Giants predicted to go 6-10 by SI.. Kinda Harsh, but everyone seems to think the giants have no shot to get to the playoffs and even if they do, they think the giants are on a serious downturn..
I seem to think 8-8 if they are lucky and no playoffs. Too much turmoil and too much of the same from last year.. Tom coughlin is still the coach, and lets be honest; Players hate the guy..
Giants ranked 15-20th best team in football.. I hate to say this, but the Giants and all their injuries look like its going to be a rough if not impossible year.. Aaron Ross looks like a complete bust, and Shockey, Burress and Toomer can never stay healthy.. If thats not enough, our secondary is perhaps one of the top 5 worst secondaries in the leagues..
Hopefully, Tom coughlin is fired half way thru the year, Bill Parcells is rehired and the Giants can rebuild
August 29th, 2007 at 1:26 pm
Pierce and Kiwi the #13 and #26 LBs respectively
Jacobs the #20 RB
Gibril Wilson the #12 SS
Shockey the #6 TE (wtf?)
Plax the #24 WR
August 29th, 2007 at 1:42 pm
MikeinMiami,,,Your negative comments always boggle my mind…Maybe you should root for the dolphins, they should be pretty good,,haa……
August 29th, 2007 at 1:55 pm
From ESPN:
You guys see this: May indicate this week will put an end to the Strahan crap.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Seven-time Pro Bowl defensive end Michael Strahan had constructive talks with the New York Giants twice in the past 24 hours, and he expects to make a decision soon on whether to retire or play.
General manager Jerry Reese described the talks on Monday night and Tuesday morning as “constructive and positive,” the team said in an e-mail to the media Tuesday afternoon.
Reese said Tuesday morning’s talk ended with Strahan telling him he expects to arrive at a decision about whether to continue playing within two days.

August 29th, 2007 at 2:06 pm
Dan — keep up the good work — much appreciated. As for the Strahan mess the Giants have no one to blame but themselves. Does anyone believe the Patriots would put up with this crap? If he had not played his entire career for the Giants his supporters would probably be calling for the lynching of Reese if he signed a me first broken down player with his production over the last 3 years for 4 million and a $500,000 bonus. The Giants should show him some love by giving old Gappy a finiancal incentive to go away and never come back.
August 29th, 2007 at 2:09 pm
Anyone know how many players are alllowed in the practice squad? And how does the process work? Can another team sign the players in the squad any at given time?
August 29th, 2007 at 2:19 pm
Dan / Hazem and the team:
I speak for myself when I say, I truly am a fan of your work, and when I ask for updates, it’s simply because I am hungry for more.
You’re doing a great job, and I look forward to all of the articles posted here…… whenever they can be posted that is.
You guys rock it out all the time. THANKS a ton!!!
August 29th, 2007 at 2:31 pm
No offense, Dan, but you’re a better writer then him anyway. If you need any assistest with news and information about the Giant’s organization I can help you with that due to the fact I keep updated daily.
August 29th, 2007 at 2:50 pm
Giants fan - I think its 7 guys. They practice with the team, usually immitating that week’s opponent. But the player, while “with” the team, can be signed at any time by any team.
Also, I think a player can only be put on the squad for 2 years.
August 29th, 2007 at 2:54 pm
DAN—HAZAM You guys do a great job . I live in MA. and the only good info i get about the giants is on this site . Keep it up and don’t let these a–holes get to you .You have a group of guys who must think the only reason we come here is to read their ‘realistic opinon” which is always EVERYTHING ABOUT THE GIANTS SUCK !!!! I don’t want their half a$$ opinion ,i want the info you guys give . Thanks again .
August 29th, 2007 at 3:08 pm
Everyone - I think I speak on behalf of all G101 writers when we say we appreciate it. That note wasn’t meant to get the most attention, I just thought it was time to speak up for my writers who work their asses off.
I can handle my own and I’m sure they can to, but with all the work put into this site, it began to seem a bit unfair to watch them get ripped to shreds.
For future reference, ANY negative comments directed at a specific writer and/or reader, will be deleted. (I can’t monitor every single one, but I’ll be sure to try.) The negativity and name-calling is going to stop.
August 29th, 2007 at 3:13 pm
Maybe Strahan’s retirement confusion is a function of how much his book discloses. Michael thinks: Do I really want to play the Eagles after the nasty things I wrote about Runyan? What will the league think of me when I disclose that my good buddy Breet did take a dive on that record setting sack? Will it be safe for me after I ripped the Skins current group of piglets? then of course there are those damn things I said about TC!! Geeze I wish Tiki was still playing!
August 29th, 2007 at 3:14 pm
Or maybe he just loves Shakespeare
August 29th, 2007 at 3:24 pm
Giant’s fan,
Actually it is up to 8 players on the practice squad. They are all considered free agents and can be signed by any team. These 8 are in addition to the 53 man roster of which only 45 can be active for any one game.
August 29th, 2007 at 3:26 pm
keep up the good work dan and hazeem and the other writers i like many go to this sight as soon as i get up .i need my giant fix every day and u guys are doing a hell of a job.
August 29th, 2007 at 3:29 pm
you guys are doing a really good job. don’t listen to anybody who doesn*t respect your work
August 29th, 2007 at 3:35 pm
This is simply the best giants website i have seen. whether its updated everyday or every few days. The job yall do is one of the best! Keep it up!
August 29th, 2007 at 3:36 pm
sorry guys… internet froze while posting :(
August 29th, 2007 at 3:42 pm
Dan & Co., I personally like the articles you write where you give your opinions on individual player’s skills and projections for the overall season or individual games. These types of articles invariably invite point/counterpoint responses, which change depend on the fortunes of the season.
For example, I came out of watching the Jets game really pumped up about the team’s prospects. The first team defense was lights out after the first play; and, with the exception of fininshing off drives and converting FG’s, the first team offense was also impressive.
Two days later I was in a gloom as the injury toll mounted both quantitatively and qualitatively.
The game tomorrow is wholly meaningless other than with regard to the health of the players participating. Obviously Eli & Co. leave early, so whose health do we worry about? On offense, I am concerned that either Ward or Bradshaw will get hurt. Who is going to play center if Reugemer is still hurting? Not O’Hara I hope. Do we really need to subject Smith, Moss or Mix to any more contact? Etc., etc.
Despite all the injuries so far this summer, the starting 11 on each side should be good to go against Dallas if we can just get through the next 10 days with the following question marks: Plax, Madison, Demps and Tyree.
That’s the stuff I like you guys to pepper us with and then we can use your opinions — gloriously optimistic or otherwise — as a jumping off point to discuss.
Dan, the one comment I would share with you is (and I’ve said this before) the reason I stopped visiting BBI was the venom displayed on The Corner Forum. It is growing here too. Not just towards you guys when you post articles, but to the individual bloggers who state unpopular views. If we could blog without attacking and insulting, it would be more fun
August 29th, 2007 at 3:45 pm
I look forward each day to your posts. Even if you don’t have time some days, you guys are doing a great job keeping us informed. Enjoy your personal comments as well. As to the negative posters……………………………………………..etc.
August 29th, 2007 at 3:50 pm
Thanks for the info on practice squad!
Just hope people like Grant/Bradshaw/Mix dont fall into the practice squad.
August 29th, 2007 at 3:51 pm
MattInDallas - A 3rd or 4th rounder? Are you serious? What team is going to give us a 3rd or 4th rounder for Strahan? Get real.
I have to say you’re all overreacting to this Strahan book. It doesn’t seem bad or derogatory towards the Giants at all. Remember the dude is going through an awful divorce and needs all the help he can get. I’m sure that had a big part in the writing of the book. And again, I doubt it’s going to be like Jose Canseco’s where it shakes the foundation of the sport. It doesn’t even look as “bad” as Tiki’s. You people overreact way too much.
August 29th, 2007 at 3:57 pm
I got a sneak peek at the first chapter of the Strahan book. It starts “For me, football was never about the money…” Haha, just kidding.
August 29th, 2007 at 3:57 pm
Back to Michael: Seeing that this book you are reporting on is “controversial” and it sounds very much so, I now for the first time question whether I want him back. We don’t need him being the topic of every sports talk show etc. Distractions are not welcome here, and this will be one very major one. Lets play it safe and send him packing. I’ll take my chances with Tuck rather than Michael and the baggage. Thanks for the many good years Michael but with this baggage we don’t have room for you.
August 29th, 2007 at 4:02 pm
Espn.com has predicted that we will finish last in the division http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/.....team07/nyg
August 29th, 2007 at 4:27 pm
i think the last time we were predicted to do bad….we went to the superbowl with kerry collins, ike hillard, toomer, and tiki….
August 29th, 2007 at 4:28 pm
Kirk, I think their assessment of the challenges facing the team are accurate. Whether that puts us 2d, 3rd or 4th depends on how the other teams meet their challenges. Washington has not been a good team since Snyder bought them and Campbell is less proven than Eli. The Cowboys have a new coach who has never been successful as a HC, and of course TO. Even the Eagles are but one injury to NcNabb (who has been seriously injured in each of the past two seasons) away from panic. So yes, we have our challenges, but so does everyone else.
August 29th, 2007 at 4:36 pm
I think it is general consensus that the media hates the NY Giants. I am well aware of that fact and have decided to disregard their so called ‘predictions’
Please stop bringing up these ‘experts’ opinions/predictions’ thank you.
August 29th, 2007 at 4:38 pm
The negative postings have been a big reason I don’t even bother commenting anymore, but it’s not just this site that it’s happening to. It’s worse over at Fox Sports (just go through the Mike Vick comments - unbelievable). It’s a shame that has gotten to the other G101 writers since this is a favorite site for many Giants fans. Ralph’s blog at the Daily News, Arthur’s blog at Newsday, BBI and this site are daily reading for me.
Unfortunately the nature of posting means you can say anything you want with no real consequences. You would hope that posters would show some class and appreciation for a site where you guys don’t get paid and you do this because you love the Giants.
August 29th, 2007 at 4:40 pm
Scott, Nice post. GiantsFan - totally agree. The hatred is almost unnatural. And ESPN leads the way. By the way, they power rank us at 18, which, based on last year’s collapse and the numerous questions and experiments, is probably fair.
We just have to win.
August 29th, 2007 at 4:46 pm
who cares what everybody rates the giants and where they predict what place we finish because on ANY GIVEN SUNDAY………………………
August 29th, 2007 at 4:50 pm
i don’t know if you guys noticed on the espn preview they had a best kept secret it said steve smith for the giants….then it says steve has a chance to move ahead of the depth chart of michael jennings and sinorice moss…someone needs to let espn know jennings is out for the season…i don’t know where they get their writers these days…jeffri chadri is the worst by far.
August 29th, 2007 at 4:56 pm
The best thing that could happen from a team standpoint is for Michael Strahan to bow out gracefully or ungracefully as a Giant. If he shows next week, prior to the Dallas game, the media attention and accompanying distractions will make the Tiki Barber episode of 2006 pale in comparison. Face it, the man has not experienced any sort of PHYSICAL CONTACT IN NEARLY A YEAR. At 36 years of age, how much does he have left? Besides, he’s probably all worn out from his ultra-womanizing sessions. Michael, please go away and don’t come back.
August 29th, 2007 at 5:14 pm
Kind of have to agree with Frank. As much as I loved Strahan over the years, it’s time to move on from the Selfish-Era. We seem to have a new era in Giants football going for us now. Let your actions on the field do the talking or whatever Coughlin’s motto is. I, frankly, think it’s great. This year we need to just play football, and with Strahan on the team I don’t know if that is possible.
August 29th, 2007 at 5:20 pm
I love Frank’s comments in general but he and I disagree on Michael, and I’m still pulling for Michael to get into camp. If he is fit enough to perform he will be an asset. If he’s not, he’ll be IR’d and that will be the end of it. I think the distraction argument is a cop out, just like it was with Tiki last year. Tiki’s early retirement announcement did not cause us to lose games or generally collapse. Michael’s return, and his new book, won’t either. From what one can tell, the players seem to really like him. The Patriots just welcomed Asanti Samuel back with open arms (and a slightly modified contract). The Giants should do the same with Michael. The hurt and anger that the fans are feeling right now will be forgotten if he shows up and is productive. If he shows up and either gets hurt immediately or is otherwise unproductive I will pay Frank the homage he will be due on that call.
August 29th, 2007 at 5:33 pm
What if he became part of a rotation with Tuck? I think that could lengthen the amount of games he would be healthy for during the season.
Quality pass rushers are at a premium in the league. I hated what he decided to do this season and I also blame him (and Tiki) for never allowing the Giants to buy into TC as a head coach these past few years. All that is water under the bridge, if he wants to come back then I want him back.
August 29th, 2007 at 5:35 pm
Hey Guys, you are going to get a kick of this snippet from giants.com:
“Manning received the day’s loudest cheer – and laugh – when his first line played off Tiki Barber’s recent criticism of his leadership skills.
“Since this is my first time speaking at the Kickoff Luncheon, I’m going to try my best not to be awkward or comical,” Manning told the crowd of approximately 1,000 fans”
August 29th, 2007 at 5:37 pm
Go Eli!!
I do like that.
August 29th, 2007 at 5:49 pm
I will gladly welcome Strahan back into the fold. Defense is what wins championships the more depth the better. And Tortter must be really hurt to not even warrant a vist to the Giants. I also think espn predictions are worthless they have picked the Redskins to win the NFC east the last two years. They picked Carolina to win the superbowl. These guys have no better idea then we do. And it is a good point that if Kerry Collins can get to the super bowl then this team has just as good a chance. Ofcourse the Defense was solid rember the shut out against the Vikings in the play offs.

Scott - I am so glad you’re still reading! You were one of the guys that vanished that set me over the edge. And that’s no disrespect to other readers and newer readers, but G101 had such a solid and loyal base that it sucked bad when you vanished.
Billy, Scott in Hawaii, Frank K, Brian Ginna, Levito, Jexxel, Jim, Luzz, Dan S, Peter, Andre and a few others who escape me at the moment — my friend from Thailand is one.
All of those names (and other that I don’t recall at this second — my apologies) were catalysts in G101s success and running them off has really gotten under my skin.

Here is a prediction. Strahan will return. There will be a lot of media attention re him on the Sunday night Dallas game. He will not do much during the game. The Giants will probably lose by missing a field goal in the last minute or so of the game.

I’ve read where the Redskins offered the Giants a 6th round draft pick for Strahan earlier in the summer. If I’m Reese, I’d consider it. Or, better yet, shop Michael for something higher.

haha Thanks Jim,
You guys should read the rest of the article:

The article is very inspiring. I am loving the team atmosphere. I hope it is for real.

Frank, I’m not so sure about trading Strahan to a division rival.

Not really Giants news but…
Patriots released Chris Patrick, the OL rookie we released earlier. So I guess he really wasn’t any good.
Houston also released one of their FB’s, Patrick Pass. Anyone know what his stats are like?

What is it with Peter King and Best-Of lists? The guy’s obsessed with them. I’m waiting for his best of the best of lists. Meanwhile, the real analysis is happening on sites like this–not from Peter King.

Pass wouldn’t fit our style. Plus I think Droughns is bigger. Pass was with the Patriots back in the day and if I remember correctly he was pretty tiny. Like 5′9″….
August 29th, 2007 at 6:51 pm
i think pass is an out of the backfirld guy but we need anyone at fullback if we got our 3rd down back as FB although could work but i’d rather have droughns used for what he was bought for
August 29th, 2007 at 6:53 pm
also height is overrated remember low man wins so 5′9 could work

True enough. I really wanted them to go after Leonard, but friggen St. Louis took him in the second round. I remember the first time I saw him do the Leonard Leap =O

I too appreciate all you do Dan & Co. And I agree that a lot of people disappeared. For example, I have missed Frank’s wisdom for a while, glad to see he posted twice today!
In football news, even if I will disagree with Frank here, there’s way to much correlation to Strahan and winning. This has been well documented, but they just showed it on SportsCenter again:
Over the last 3 years:
With Strahan: 22-11, 19.0 PPG, 319.0 YPG
Without Strahan: 3-12, 26.3 PPG, 358.6 YPG
On the field, even if he’s “lost a step”, his reputation alone will precede him, and opposing teams will be forced to gameplan against him. If he’s on the field (yes, it’s an if given his age), he will be a factor.
Off the field, I see Strahan completely different than Tiki. I never felt like Tiki would be the guy to gather the troops up before a game and get everyone fired up, but I feel like whenever ESPN or whoever shows stock footage of Strahan, it’s always him before the game in the middle of the huddle getting the boys fired up. He is the unquestioned leader, so much so that the biggest benefactor of his absence, Justin Tuck, didn’t say the PC response of “Mike was great, but I have to do what I can to help us win.”, instead he said “Of course I want him back, he’s the best.” That same sentiment has been echoed by the entire team, as no one said “He’s not here, we’re moving on.”
The teammates want Strahan back, so to argue that he is a bad influence or a cancer or whatever is inaccurate.

3 jobs and school ? Don’t lie to your readers or you will loose them !

I would actually agree with Frank on this. Tuck looked so strong that I have a hard time telling him to sit for a 36 y/o coming off of a Lis Franc.

Dan, I wouldn’t be able to survive down here without the timely and accurate information you and all the other writers make on this site. Thanks for keeping it BLUE!

Scott - First of all, it’s lose. Second of all, I do attend college. Third, I work at MVN, AOL and I just recently was hired at MSG. In early September, you will be able to see my work there.
Who are you to question what I do?

What happened to Douglas?
I think we should have Droughns and Jacobs out there as much as possible anyway. Last year, the eagles did this alot to our defense escpecially on goal line and we were very confused. They had Buckhaulter and Westbrook in the split back formation. This is what I wanted to do last year with Tiki and Jacobs but it makes more sense this year since Tiki was an elite back. We still need to find someone who can step in and play FB but instead of having some unknown FB who can’t catch, lets have our talent out there as much as possible.
