Here’s a chance to see Osi in the Pro Bowl
Giants fans, we have had an up and down here following our beloved Giants, and what better way to cap off a winning 2007 campaign then to head to Hawaii to see Osi Umenyiora and the rest of the NFC bunch compete against the AFC?
I know you have probably seen the commercials for the State Farm “Your Game/Your Call” Ultimate Pro Bowl Giveaway, but if you are like most people, you haven’t even registered for your chance to win. Ypu have until January 6 to enter (daily) your name in the hat for your chance to win a trip to Hawaii or one of 35 other great prizes. The Grand prize includes:

- $1,000 State Farm VISA gift card
In addition to the five grand prize packages, there will be a chance to win 1 of 10 first place prizes of an autographed Howie Long Football and a $250 nflshop.com gift card. There will also be 25 $100 nflshop.com gift cards to the second place winners. You can go online and register quickly and read all the official rules here. Remember: no purchase necessary, and void where prohibited.
Other Pro Bowl News:
In addition to DE Osi Umenyiora making the Pro Bowl (2nd of career), five other Giants were recognized as alternates: Plaxico Burress (1st alt), Jeremy Shockey (1st alt), Michael Strahan (2nd alt), Chris Snee (2nd alt), and Jeff Feagles (3rd alt).
There were a lot of Giants that didn’t get enough love in the voting, and that would be Fred Robbins and Chris Snee would should have been a starter. Also, I was disappointed Tuck did not make it on the ballot, as he has had a large role in the defense this year. The biggest disappointment has to be on the side of Plaxico Burress. Even with his injury, if this wasn’t a Pro Bowl year for him, I don’t know what is.
I was VERY shocked to not see Eli Manning named. Was he on the ballot?

are you kidding about eli lol? i think his numbers are a bit well short of getting him on any ballot, he needs to worry about getting named to a future roster.
Plax fell off, doesn’t deserve pro bowl nomination… but Tuck definitely does.. He has been a huge sleeper on this team, no one knows what he’s done unless you watch each game..

AO-
Completely joking about Eli…I thought it was an obvious enough joke, but perhaps not. I thought Plax did when you look at who got in over him. Tuck is a stud, and like I said in one of my recent posts, the Giants will have quite a dilemna trying to figure out how to get him more snaps next season. That is a good problem to have!

i think tuck is playing is heart out because he didnt want to move down a roster spot to M.K so he is showing us his worth and for good reason. i whish everyone can play like him

As far as I’m concerned, none of the Giants deserved to a probowl trip…especially Osi. Besides his freak game against the Eagles, he’s had one other break out game against the 49ers…what else has he done?

First off how does a guy with a bad knee and ankle put up almost the same yards as Torry Holt (120 yards difference at this point in the season) 3 more TDs then Torry Holt

Frustrated-
He has drawn consistent double teams and chip blocks which opens up things for Tuck and Robbins. Even with the hightened amount of attention he has recieved in blcoking schemes, he has still been able to get to the QB for hurries and pressures pretty consistenly. Those are things that do not show up on the stat sheet, but help other people’s stats, and helps the secondary. He has had a monster year, and he derserves his shot.
Pretty crazy to say none of them deserve a shot. I think Feagles has preformed great this season, as has Tuck, Osi, Strahan (once he shook off the rust), and Plaxico with one ankle. Have you been watching the games this season? Or just looking at the final scores and stat lines?

Frustrated are you Mets fan?

I too was shocked about Eli’s not making the ballot. And I called the Pro Bowl people and talked to a Mister Walter von Moot at their Kansas City office.
At first he didn’t want to speak to me. His secretary kept saying things like, he can’t come to the phone, his car’s double-parked, his suit’s at the cleaners, and so on. But I wasn’t buying any of that crap.
Finally, on the phone, confronted with my righteous indignation, he admitted how they’d dropped the ball on Eli. And how they’re reaping a whirlwind of towering proportions. He allowed as how he spends most of the day hunkered down under his desk, avoiding the hate messages, the death threats, the rocks through the window, the satellite laser beams and the meteor showers. Only yesterday, he arrived at work to find a noose hanging from the transom.
“The last time it was even close to this,” He allowed, “was when we were going to leave Archie Manning off in 1978 because the Saints were 7 and 9. But then the Mississippi Klan got involved and we had to….uh….reconsider.”
So I asked him what he’s going to do. After a long silence, he said perhaps there’ll be a second Pro Bowl in February in Spokane….or maybe Las Cruces for the players they “dropped the ball” on. Players like Rex Grossman, Anthony Smith, Chris Henry and yes, even Eli.
Stay tuned….

if strahan retires it save the giants 4mil
if toomers leave that 2.2mil saved

Archie talks about Eli. Remember, folks, this is daddy talking about his son. It’s damage control. It is not THE TRUTH.

PLAX GOT HOSED THAT IS FOR SURE. One guy that no one is talking about is Fred Robbins. He had just as good if not better numbers than Pat and Kevin Williams. Ohh and one more thing Plax got screwed.

For everyone interested in possible FA upgrades for the Giants next year and why the Probowl is not meaningless to the players…

Branded @ 6 - Osi has had a “monster year”? Not in my book and many others like me that refuse to make excuses for these highly paid underachievers. Question; how many of those double teams has Osi beat to make a play…not many…I have nightmares of him being blocked upfield past the QB or caught in the wash only to make a play when the QB rolls right into him. My expectations are much higher for the star power on this team..including but not limited to Osi.

The one Giants who really deserved it was Ryan Grant, of course.
