Super Bowl Post-Game: Reliving the Giant Victory
Memo to Boston: change of plans, the Lombardi Trophy is coming to NEW YORK CITY. To be on the winning side of the best Super Bowl in history is a feeling beyond words. Thank you for reading this site - what a ride it has been. What a dream ride. By the way - someone should sign up Burress for sports writing at the end of his career…23-17? Pretty damn close.
To recap this game, I will talk about the notable players, notable plays and notable stats.
MVP - Eli Manning. Saved his best for last. A true MVP of this team.
Honorable Mention - Osi Umenyiora, Justin Tuck, Michael Strahan, Fred Robbins, Barry Cofield, Jay Alford, Kawika Mitchell, David Tyree. I can’t just list the D-line in this one, each deserves individual recognition for their efforts. They were in Brady’s face all game, with 5 sacks and a bunch of hits. Once thought impossible, the pressure their front four generated threw off Brady’s timing, causing uncharacteristic overthrows like the one to Moss in the end zone or the five yard out route to Welker. Brady looked human in this game, and much of the credit goes to the unrelenting pass rush of our D-line. Also, give them a ton of credit for forcing the Pats to become one-dimensional. Belichick came into this game wanted to run Maroney, and after tallying 16 yards on 11 carries in the first half, Maroney barely touched the ball in the second half. For Tyree, what can you say? took the ball from playoff playmaker Asante Samuel in the end zone and was on the receiving end of the Super Bowl’s best play. He is a blue collar player who works hard all the time and that work really paid off tonight.
Top 5 Plays of the Super Bowl -
Honorable Mention - Eli to Kevin Boss for 45 yards in the 4th quarter. After 3 points all game, this play jump started the offense. A play that hearkens back to the glory days of Simms to Bavaro.
5. First Quarter Pass Interference Penalty on Antonio Pierce. The reason for the only Patriots TD in the first half. 3rd and 10 on the NY 17 and AP commits a bonehead penalty that directly results in the Maroney touchdown run. I was thinking at the time: ‘these are the kind of plays that makes teams lose Super Bowls’ (other plays such as this: the tipped pass INT, the batted ball play, the too many men on the field call). But the Giants defense tightened up after that first drive, holding the Pats to one touchdown for the rest of the game.
4. Giants stop the Pats as they go for it on 4th and 13 at the 32. The Patriots offense is known for making teams pay for their mistakes, yet after Chase Blackburn’s boneheaded penalty gave them a second life, the Giants defense rose up to the occasion. Preventing the Pats from scoring any points on that drive was incredible. A 15 play drive that involved two defensive stops and resulted in no points. After Blackburn was caught for his mistake I was sure the Pats would make New York pay, but the defense rallied and stopped them. Forever burned in my mind will be AP pumping up the defense as the Pats offense retook the field. They put their hands together and made the plays.
3. Eli Manning to Steve Smith for 12 yards on 3rd and 11. Eli throws a perfect spiral to Smith on the run, and Smith tip-toes 5 yards down the line for the first down and then goes out of bounds to stop the clock with 40 seconds left. A great pass and run. Biggest 3rd down conversion of the game, except…
2. The Pass. You know what I’m talking about. The Pass will be a play that will forever live in Giants lore. On third and 5, Eli Manning somehow escapes the rush and heaves a 35 yard pass downfield to David Tyree, who makes the catch of his life. A beautiful fingertip catch. I will be watching that play for a long, long time.
1. The Touchdown. For all the great moments on that last drive, all would be for naught without actually getting in the end zone. Burress gutted out another tough game, stayed with it and burned Ellis Hobbes for the Super Bowl winning touchdown with 39 seconds left.
Notable Stats -
5. Dropped Passes. The Giants got another case of the dropsies in this one, and it almost cost them. Eli got his WRs the ball, and they held onto just enough to win.
4. 3rd Down Conversions. Both teams enjoyed a nice 50% success rate on third downs in this game (Pats were 7/14, Giants 8/16), and though the importance of 3rd down conversions was magnified on the last drive of the game, where the Giants were 2/3 on third downs (they converted the other one on that 4th and 1 Jacobs run), they played a role throughout. The Pats two touchdowns were the product of key third down conversions, one was AP’s penalty on 3rd and 10 and the other was the 3rd and 6 touchdown to Moss.
3. Wes Welker’s YAC. The Giants clearly were focused on stopping Moss in this game, and Welker made them pay for it. The Giants did an awful job on Welker, shifting LBs and Safeties to cover him. He made the most of his opportunity with a gritty 11 catches for 106 yards. He was Brady’s primary target for a majority of the game, and almost always got yards after catching the ball.
2. Lawrence Maroney’s YPC. It was clear that Bill Belichick had big plans for his RB, but the Giants held Maroney to 11 carries for 16 yards in the first half. Our ability to stop the run may be the most underrated element to our defensive success. Belichick got impatient with his running game and the Patriots offense became one-dimensional. As a result, our d-linemen could pin their ears back and go to work making the Patriots vaunted O-line look like chumps.
1. Sacks vs. Hits. The biggest key to our success tonight was the Giants ability to generate pressure with their front four. They were in Brady’s face all game, and even when they didn’t create pressure, they threw off the timing of the Patriot offense. The only time that offense looked right was their touchdown drive in the fourth quarter. The Giants pass rush made Tom Brady look like an average quarterback tonight, plain and simple.

Woooooo!!!! Reese needs to pay Spags. He needs to pay him big time! I really think they should put it in his contract to take over as HC once Coughlin moves on. Great win by BIG BLUE!!!
February 3rd, 2008 at 11:48 pm
Hey guys. This is Jamie from The Patriot Act. Congratulations to the Giants and their fans. The G-Men won the battle in the trenches and were most definitely the better team tonight. Enjoy the victory, it’s yours for a full year.
February 3rd, 2008 at 11:50 pm
Agee on most of your comments. Fabulous game, I think the penalty of Antonio Pierce was smart because he got burned and if he didn’t grab him it would have been a touchdown immediately.
The pass as you call it is in my oppinion the new “the catch”, sorry Ron and all the Mets fans.
February 3rd, 2008 at 11:53 pm
Dear Eli Manning,
On behaf of all those angry Giants fans who expected you to be the greatest QB in the league right away, I apologize. I was a huge Eli supporter, yet you even surpassed my expectations. Eli Manning you have proven, as many of us believed you would, that you are a great football player. Bravo for being in the playoffs every season you have started. Taking all that shit from angry fans and never reacting was all class. Bravo Eli, you are the man…the MVP
February 3rd, 2008 at 11:54 pm
Let’s see - other highlights of these two weeks;
1) Smarmy Brady chuckling like a pre school snooty kid that Plax’s prediction was flawed. Let’s see that put up on You Tube and replayed endlessly.
2) On camera shot of Giants 60 year employee equipment manager. Nice story there. Sorta glossed over.
3) SUPER Crow eating by the turds on NFL Network in post game interviews. From Rich Eisen to Deion, none of them ever believed and frankly still don’t - screw ‘em all!
4) Plax’s tearful emotions
5) A smiling Coughlin
Please somebody - LOCK UP SPAGS! Never let him leave Giants-land!
So happy, here in DC!
February 3rd, 2008 at 11:56 pm
Eli did just enough to win?
Please.
Eli escaping the grasp of the pats to make that throw to tyree will be one of the greatest GIANTS highlight of all time.
Period.
End of discussion.
Nobody can say shit about him any more.
Eli and the patriot beating giants will never have to buy a drink in this town again
February 4th, 2008 at 12:01 am
David Tyree….wow…unbelievable cluth catch. The pass rush was incredible and the secondary was completely underrated. I felt so good for Corey Webster knocking away those last two hail mary passes after giving up the TD to Moss. Other than his slip, another great game from him. Boss’ 45 yard catch probably sealed Shockeys fate with this team. How about Jerry Reese?? what a draft!!! Congrats GMEN and all the fans….this team doesnt make it easy on us, but we love em!!
February 4th, 2008 at 12:01 am
My goooodness, what a game guys?? I’m sorry I couldn’t be on the site with you guys celebrating, but I’m down here in Arizona. My seats were insane, and that had to be one of the best Super Bowls ever. I’m in shock and awe. Ill post pictures and such soon, taking you through my Super Bowl experience. Thanks to all you guys, the readers, for sticking around all year. It was a great season, and it was a pleasure getting to interact with all of you. Nobody ever lost faith. Thanks guys, and let me introduce you to the NFL Champion New York Giants!!
February 4th, 2008 at 12:10 am
The play of the game was Belichek’s going for it on 4th and 13. Hubris brought the Pats down. The football gods will have none of it!
February 4th, 2008 at 12:12 am
Michael Warren - I want everything you’ve recorded. I can’t believe you were at that game.
February 4th, 2008 at 12:13 am
Was that the best drive in SB history? I think so, it beats Brady’s FG drives. The Giants needed a TD to win it and they got it! Excellent plays by the WRs to get first downs, then The Pass! then the TD…simply amazing, Eli Manning is forever golden in NY sports history.
February 4th, 2008 at 12:18 am

congrats fellow Giants fans…not including rik sehgal who should now resign
February 4th, 2008 at 12:22 am
PS - I HATE BILL SIMMONS. He predicted a 42-10 Pats win and talked all about how amazing going undefeated is. He is the posterchild for obnoxious Boston fans and I encourage all of Giants 101 to send an “eff you” his way.
February 4th, 2008 at 12:24 am
p.s…. i will NOT let Rik Seghal write for this site much longer….. I WILL lead the charge to have him BANNED from this site… WHoever is with me say AYE!

February 4th, 2008 at 12:27 am
THANK YOU G-MEN! As a life-long Dolphins fan I want to thank the Giants for what they’ve done of all of the Miami Dol-Fans!
I grew up in North Bergen and moved to Miami in ‘68 so I have little connection to the Giants. But from here on out they are my favorite NFC team!!!!!
February 4th, 2008 at 12:28 am
How bout the classless Pat’s leaving the game before giving congrats to the Giants…Bill Classless…Brady Classless…Thanks losers for putting the icing on the cake…
February 4th, 2008 at 12:29 am
18 AND WHAT!!!!!!!!! As AP put it “WRITE THAT BOOK”!!!!!
February 4th, 2008 at 12:29 am
Tom Brady’s TD throwing record: Meaningless
Randy Moss’ TD catching record: Useless
Patriots losing the Superbowl: PRICELESS!
February 4th, 2008 at 12:33 am
Who can blame them for leaving.
February 4th, 2008 at 12:36 am
Hey, Bergen thanks for the support but nobody here cares about those old school losers who also showed no class…Fuck the 72 Dolphins not for nothing but these Pat’s along with the Colts…Giants…Cowboys of this season would have beat the shit out of them….So let them keep holding on to the 72 Chip we will enjoy the 2007-2008 Championship!!!!!
February 4th, 2008 at 12:36 am

February 4th, 2008 at 12:51 am
What do you think will happen with Spags now? Snyder is probably gonna throw money at him dont you think? I really hope Reese offers him a new contract with more money and a HC gig guaranty for after TC eventually leaves. I hope he’s learned by being under Jim Johnson that its okay to stay as a DC for a while. TC obviously needs a big contract himself but I really think its important to keep Spags there with him. Whatever it takes IMO has to be done. WHATEVER IT TAKES!
February 4th, 2008 at 12:51 am
Nate- Haha yeah no worries, I can’t wait to get home and load them up. I hope they came out well. This was an insane experience. Btw, great job on the recap.
I’m on cloud nine right now, rewatching the game at the hotel. What a night to be a Giants fan!
February 4th, 2008 at 12:54 am
So, who do you guys think we’re gonna draft next year?
February 4th, 2008 at 12:55 am
Just kidding! I’ll be savoring this moment for a bit longer…
February 4th, 2008 at 12:59 am
Hey Seghal…. What do you think of the NEW YORK FOOTBALL GIANTS…. Great win g-men and congrads to the team &to our MVP Eli … What a great time to be a real true giant fan… Just think giant fans with a couple of good free agents,a good nfl draft and sign our own free agents we could be right back where we are now… Winning the superbowl…. We also need to keep Spags and not let him sign with the deadskins…. Go Giants… Congrads & what a great win … What a memorable night to be a giant fan…..
February 4th, 2008 at 1:03 am
Ok, Ok fellow fans let’s let Rik back in the clubhouse…Rik if you are a true Giants fans then, Hey all i got to say is never doubt Eli again he’s a Champion…Just word to the wise never pick against your own team in the Super Bowl..Week 7, 8, 9, its ok, but not in the Biggest Sporting Event That Exist in Team Sports…..Congrats Rik I hope you are enjoying this as much as I am…
February 4th, 2008 at 1:04 am
I love football.
February 4th, 2008 at 1:05 am
I’ve been a fan since the day I was born, and I thought I would never get to see this day. My dad made me go to bed before wide right, so prior to tonight I’d never gotten to see my favorite team on earth win the big one. It hasn’t sunk in yet , but this was one of the most impressive runs by any team ever in the NFL postseason, period.
To sum it all up
1986 - Perfect game by Sims, Laurence Taylor
1990 - Wide Right
2007 - Upset of the century, I’ll be telling my grandkids about this one
p.s - I was fourtunate enough to be at the G-men Dallas game and see a part of this live. I’ve always said heaven is seeing your team win a close game in the clutch every time, and the big blue delivered this year like I always belived they could
p.s.s - How crappy was it of Belichek to run out on the field at the end? Way to pull a sour grapes and try to wreck an incredible moment for all the Giants vets, not that he succeded.
p.s.s. - Congradulations to all the New York Giants, all the true fans, and everyone associated with this, this is one for the history books.
p.s.s.s -My tears say it all
February 4th, 2008 at 1:07 am
And Eli can offically flip two middle finger to all who doubted him, not that he would, but I’ll do it for him.
February 4th, 2008 at 1:08 am
Congrats to all us Giant fans. Unbelievable game. The defense was relentless. Has anyone seen that face on Brady at all this year? And what a game by Eli. Well deserved MVP award. All around great TEAM effort. Go GIANTS!!!
February 4th, 2008 at 1:35 am
WOW
February 4th, 2008 at 1:35 am
I don’t know what to say. This is THE greatest victory for any team in NFL history. Steve Spagnola, Justin Tuck, Tom Coughlin, Eli (unf-ingbelievabel), Stra, Boss, Plax (I love you!), the O LINE!!!, the D LINE!!! Antonio Pierce, James Butler (This I thought I’d never say), Tynes, Osi, Jay Alford (HOW HUGE WAS THAT SACK!). Mr. Johnson (he’s been a trainer for the team for 60 YEARS!!!!) GREATEST WIN FOR ANY TEAM. EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
February 4th, 2008 at 1:54 am
I just want to say Im so happy to be apart of this site…Im from RI and there arent a ton of giants fans out here and to be here and talk giant football with all amazing die hard fans means alot…thanks to all the writers too!!!!
btw, this win will make so many more FA want to come and play for the NY football Giants! A true team….Before the game, the pats did a bit on how they won on “teamwork”…well damn, whos the real team now! Strahan said it best, a defense with a bunch of misfits patched together, young and old…just believe and it can happen
February 4th, 2008 at 1:55 am
Dan…I agree, my tears also say it all!
February 4th, 2008 at 2:19 am
I lost respect for emmit smith, never had any for keyshaun. Give credit where credit is due. Only Salisbury had the cohones to say he f#$%@^ up. The giants were the better team period. The Giants made the pats go 18 and choke.
GO G-MEN
February 4th, 2008 at 2:30 am
The best pass and catch I have ever seen in my life was the Eli somehow escaping the sack twice and then throwing up a prayer. David Tyree should be MVP for that catch off the helmet that basically kept the drive alive and won it for the Giants. Hand Down best catch I have ever seen. F*** Special Teams he should be our second or third reciever. The guy is a beast and the G-Men would not have won without him. On a side note I’m about to hook up with a hot ass chick, who is now a newly converted giants fan. I love being a Giants Fan now more then ever Rock ON!!
February 4th, 2008 at 2:32 am
Wow, what a game!!!! I thought I was going to have a heart attack. my heart was beating so fast it was hard to breath. At the end it was so hard to watch, i started telling my self that it was OK it we didn’t win, we had a great playoff run and then Eli escapes from the pile and makes the throw of his life. What a F#*#*#*#*# N game. I live here in Vancouver Canada with only one Giant fan friend and my Son and it’s hard to come by this comradery. To all my brother New Yorkers and Giants fans and our team, you are the best. Giants Win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One for New York. History!
February 4th, 2008 at 2:37 am
This victory wipes out the monumental collapse of the Yanks when they had the 3-0 lead on boston in the ALCS. This will now be know as the best comeback in the history of sports. 18-1 sounds nice to me. Funny how a team can go 18-1 and in a couple of years noone will know who you are talking about. Like Coughlin said to his team, No one remembers who finished second in the SuperBowl.
February 4th, 2008 at 2:55 am
Its 3am…im still up watching all videos and everything! Living the moment…but lets just say
YOUR NEW YORK GIANTS ARE CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
February 4th, 2008 at 3:28 am

February 4th, 2008 at 3:42 am

I wonder if the Giants can go and patent “18-1″? If anyone knows where I can get a few, I’d like to send it to the ESPN staff especially douche Bill “I am a product of the ESPN franchise expansion” Simmons. Boy the Pats fans are such sore losers, blaming everything from Brady’s ankle, to the Gs defensive backs clutching and grabbing, to the refs blowing it. In the immortal words of Michael Irvin “you got beat. take it like a man”.
February 4th, 2008 at 9:27 am
Just A FANTASTIC game!!! They never gave up and put Pretty boy brady on his back about 8 times! Man I just floated to work this morning! Congratulations NY Foot Ball Giants!!!!
February 4th, 2008 at 9:41 am
The Patriots did not play well enough to win, and Eli Manning may have played the best game of his career. I think everyone is shocked at the outcome of this game. The sad truth is that this great team now will be remembered as the losing team in the greatest upset in Super Bowl history. The New York media will (and should) compare this game to the Jets victory over the Baltimore Colts in 1969. The Colts are not remembered as one of the NFL’s greatest teams of that era. Yet they lost one regular season game in 1967, only to lose in the playoffs. Then in 1968 they were 13-1, and lost to the Jets in the Super Bowl. They won the Super Bowl in 1971(11-2-1), but that 1969 loss to the Jets is what everybody remembers. Will this fate befall the Pats?
February 4th, 2008 at 9:49 am
Congrats Spags We love you and thank you for this sweet Championship…But I wish you the worst luck coaching our enemy’s the hated DeadSkins…As much as I got love for you I feel your about to make a Bad Decision to mirror Bill when he left us to the Browns…
February 4th, 2008 at 10:03 am
Now that’s GIANTS FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Welcome back Big Blue Wrecking Crew…you are WORLD CHAMPIONS and won it the old fashioned way…YOU EARRRRRRNED IT. Props to Eli…you’ve made me a believer…no one deserves it more after some of us crucified you during the season. Spags…you da man baby, all the best to you in whatever you decide to do, you’ve earned your stripes, it’ll be tough to see you go but that’s the nature of the beast…JR, TC and the coaching staff…much respect..if ever there was a testiment to the saying…it ain’t how you start but how you finish…you guys are it…you proved through all the adversity that the meaning of team (Together Everyone Accomplishes Much) was your destiny. The Duke will truely and eternally RIP.
February 4th, 2008 at 10:03 am
I know I will be at the Parade on Tuesday!!!
February 4th, 2008 at 10:06 am
finally put that 2nd class sports city back where they belong. What an arrogant brand of football they play.
February 4th, 2008 at 10:07 am
Of course I came to work today with my Giant BLUE dress shirt and a gray (like our game pants) tie, covererd in an ELI MANNING jersey and a Riddel NY Giants helmet… I think I might have to make this the officialy uniform, even here in Dallas!!!
This was enormous! I blacked out when Plax caught the last TD, thank God my wife was there to help me back on my feet!
GO GIANTS!!!!!
February 4th, 2008 at 10:11 am
What is attractive in DC for Spags? They already hired what would be ALL of his assistants, he would basically have to be a puppett. Going from a Mara run team to the dysfunctional Snyder organization…no thanks.
February 4th, 2008 at 10:46 am
I’m so happy, I cried. I love the Giants. But my question now is…..we lose spagnulo and keep coughlin? Didn’t we make the same mistake with fassel and Fox?
And I know lots of Giants fans hate Tiki. Sorry, but I like the guy. We could have used him yesterday. The Defense won the game for us…like True Giants teams do. Little what coughlin did, won the game for us. Spagnulo should be coach. (ok..maybe its too soon, but succession plan..)
February 4th, 2008 at 10:48 am
I knew the giants could win this game, but i have to admit i didn’t think they would. It was pretty damn sweet to sit in the living room with my two patriot fan roomates who have been arguing with me about eli all year and getting to feed them some humble pie! amazing performance. the giants defense was unbelievable against that offense. i wish i could take off tomorrow afternoon for the parade. these guys deserve so much respect! Go big blue!
February 4th, 2008 at 10:51 am
THIS WAS GREAT!!!!
I don’t know how to feel however, about J Shockey….
How crazy would
C Johnson — J Shockey be?
February 4th, 2008 at 11:14 am
Way to GO it has been great reading this site all year I only discovered this year but will be here every day. Two things to say, GIANTS WORLD CHAMPIONS and SPAGS DON’T GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
February 4th, 2008 at 11:29 am
Many, many thoughts at this moment:
1. Deep satisfaction of adding to the rich history of one of the storied franchises of the NFL.
2. Shutting up Bellichik - did you see him after the game? What a sullen maroon. Not a drop of gaciousness unlike Tom Brady who probably wanted to cry but kept his composure and showed the true class-guy he is.
3. New York does it to Boston, real bad. In the never ending NY vs. Boston feud, this is the biggest event to date. Stopping their perfect season and rubbing it in their faces is big time.
4. Eli’s success after all the crap he took. The “drive” was historic and among the greatest moments in Super Bowl history. He will forever live in the hearts of Giants fans no matter what he does from here on.
5. Strahan and Toomer getting their rings after all these years - Will they be back?
6. Tom Coughlin who is better coach than we may realize showing class and professionalism.
7. Our budding stars: Tuck, Osi, Bradshaw, Jacobs, Smith, Boss, Ross, Webster. The future is bright.
That Bellichik really disgusts me. He is a great football mind but it is hard to like someone like that. He would not gie the Giants credit for outplaying his team and probably laying on the Pats the worst physical beating anyone can remember. Like I said all along, if you pressure Brady and hit him, and knock him down, and get in his head, he turns into a regular human being which exposes the Patriots weaknesses.
P.S. To Jerry Reese: please send Spags as much money as is required to keep him. Don’t let him walk and become head coach of the Redskins. Make him assistant HC with the understnading that when Coughlin decides to retire, Spags is the next HC.

Spagnuolo, widely praised for putting together the defense that got the Giants to the Super Bowl, would be seeking his first head coaching job. The Redskins had to wait until after Sunday’s game to formally seek permission to interview him.
————————————————————————-
Again I read that they have to ask permission. Does that mean that Reese can just not allow them to talk to Spags?
February 4th, 2008 at 12:29 pm
giantthinker -
JR can do nothing to prevent Spags from interviewing except begging. He is a free man to interview after the season.

You know, fellows, I’ve tried to be magnaminous in defeat. I’ve accepted that New York out-played New England and that they thoroughly deserved their win. I can live with a little bit of trash talk and I’m allowing a degree of latitude, but your L.T. #56 is really leaving a sour taste in the mouth with his “comments” on The Patriot Act and The Cowboy Roundup.
I know he’s a noisy, obnoxious minority of one among New York fans and I know most New York fans would distance themselves from him, but he does impact on your reputation.
February 4th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
What did LT say?
February 4th, 2008 at 1:06 pm
Allow me to committ some hubris here but I don’t think losing Spags is going to kill the team. I mean, yeah he was an awesome D coordinator but look at the piece of c**p whose job he took over. The Gs front 7 are built for blitzes and not for the touchy feely junk that Tim Lewis was throwing around. The Gs could promote their D line guy, and still have success with the scheme since they will have all the players plus Kiwi and a couple of rookies who have a full season under their belts. The only facet of this that worries me is Spags going to the Skins and then doing a number on the Gs whenever they face each other.
February 4th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
Andrew… as you should know, there are a-holes everywhere. The Pats have the worst, most obnoxious fan base in all of history and make even Cowboys fans look classy by comparison. Surely, you can’t hold it against all of the folks on this board for the actions of one person.
February 4th, 2008 at 1:13 pm
LT#56 is banned from MVN.
February 4th, 2008 at 1:47 pm
Of course I don’t FactCheck, but unfortunately the loud minority often make so much noise it’s hard to hear the decent stuff. And there’s a lot of that on this Giants board.
Want to know what was said, well head over to The Cowboy Roundup and the comments regarding Mr Owens (ignore the stuff directed at me, which isn’t important and doesn’t bother me one iota - I’m fairly ignorant of your game, so he was probably spot on).
February 4th, 2008 at 1:55 pm
I’ve been an Eli doubter, right up until he broke from Seymour’s grasp and completed that pass to Tyree. That showed something we need in a QB: a gutsy leader. He showed that same moxy in his first couple of seasons and seemed to lose that in the last two years. He did not have to be great, he just had to be a leader. Last night he did that. This is a great feeling, and it’s even sweeter hearing those same cocky Pats fans cry on WEEI and all around my office. I have my Osi jersey on, and a shit-eating grin about 2 miles wide.

Stop all this talk about who is classy and who isn’t. Anyone can nitpick and find fans on either side who are morons. The Giants won fair and square and that’s it. The Patriots have guys (Harrison) that run their mouthes and so do the Giants (Pierce). Of course there are extremist fans on both ends. But going on about who is classy and who isn’t makes people look as whiny as LT whenever he loses.
February 4th, 2008 at 4:12 pm
anyone goin to the parade?
February 4th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
WE WON THE SUPER BOWL WOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEEAAAAAAA!!!!
February 4th, 2008 at 4:28 pm
Anybody in the Hampton Roads area of VA on this site…I want to take the drive for the parade but need a runnin partner…
February 4th, 2008 at 4:35 pm
Dream postseason guys. Ronde “wanting” the Giants in the first round (be careful what you wish for), Romo vacationing, and in essence dissing the Giants by not preparing more than he could of. I cant say anything about the Pack, they were the only team with class we played this postseason. And the arrogant Patsies, this victory is the GREATEST UPSET IN ALL SPORTS HISTORY.
I love the Giants!!!!!!!! I also cried when Plax caught the go-ahead TD.
February 4th, 2008 at 4:55 pm
alright…next season haha what are we doin in fa and the draft haha I cant get enough football!
February 4th, 2008 at 4:59 pm
hey in the top 5 best play Bradshaw should be on thier with in InSane run when he almost got tackled and a angle helped him back up for an other 5 yards
February 4th, 2008 at 4:59 pm
Wooo GIANTS!
I’d like to add “all the times Brady ate it” to the list of top plays please.
YES!
February 4th, 2008 at 5:10 pm

All right we are now superbowl champs….Now we need to take care of in house issues… Spags why is he going to go on an interview with that idiot Snyder on Tuesday when he should be at the parade in N.Y. what’s the deal there. Is there anyway the giant organization can retian him and offer him the asst. coaching job under T.C. and offer him more money…and groom him for T.C. job later on down the line… What the heck the giants waiting for … What is there problem… We need him back .. with a few tweaks here & there and a new free agent or two and we sign our own and a good rookie draft we can be right back we’re we are right now….. MARA…. TISCH…. REESE…. GET THE DAMN JOB DONE FOR CRY’IN OUT LOUD IT’S SIMPLE MAKE SPAGS AN OFFER HE CAN’T REFUSE LIKE IN THE GODFATHER….. YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN……
February 4th, 2008 at 5:38 pm
i nowe should be savering the moment but i cant wait untill FA and the draft this is my fav. part of the year. and to be honest out of the possable player of the ny giant that may retire. thier is only one i truely want to stay and that is Toomer.
Toomer is as solid as they come and proved it toward the end of the year. he had a slow start but once he got his game legs back he was as good as new. and to be honest we cant trust Moss or Smith to bo our number 2 just yet due to health concerns, however, tyree could be a solid 3 if smith can stay healthy. Moss need to prove himself and if he cant cut him and draft another WR.
if Strahan leave i love the idea moving M.K back to DE and keeping Tuck at DT and leaving Tobar at LB. but draft another player to take over the following year or in 2 years. but if #92 stays keep M.K at LB
Madison will not retire but if he does i the lose will be bigger then people think. so if he retires we need a Day pick, or a system guy who can play the slot WR well. Webster and Ross are our starters and dockery is our #3 but when we play the Cowboys we need 4 solid DB 3 wont cut it
feagles can not be replaced but he is done.
anyway the one thing i want to see done this offseason is Butler being Cut or the backup but HE CAN NOT START. i would love to see Johnson get the start but we may go to FA to fill that hole.
all in all i dont see alot of new guys coming in next year besides Rookies and 1 or 2 vets. DD need a more money and should stay at LT. he really is the in the upper tier
all in all i believe Strahan will come back, madison will stay and toomer as well. Feagles will be leaving
and i do hope shockey can get traded to the Bangels
February 4th, 2008 at 5:39 pm
What more can be said? I always believed this team was talented. i just could not understand their ineffectiveness . Eli has redeemed himself . Let no one ever question him again. SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS, GREATEST ONE EVER FOREVER. TO ALL ON THIS FORUM THANKS FOR YOUR EXCHANGES ON THE GIANTS. It has been a real pleasure read your heart felt thoughts. Thanks to all the writers who shared their thoughts. Lets all enjoy this till next season.

Getting to watch this game with my two boys (7 and 4) was priceless!! It’s a moment in time the I, as well as they, will never forget. Thank You NY Giants for the best memory ever!!!
February 4th, 2008 at 8:18 pm
Anyone seen Rik Sehgal? So the 2-week layoff would hurt the Giants but not the Patriots, eh Rik? Hmm.
February 4th, 2008 at 8:19 pm
getting to watch this game with my two boys was priceless too, an added treat is writing to the blog site of one of them—
how do you keep spagnolo?????
February 4th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
The rumor in the wind is that Snyder is leaning towards Fassell and will not open up the vault for Spags. I was looking through some of the jackass comments that Pats fans were posting over on ESPN (I stayed away from all that last week)… man, this is all the more sweet just to be able to rub it in their faces for their team pulling the biggest choke of all time.
February 4th, 2008 at 9:07 pm
It’s all about the momentum…the Giants had more than any of the playoff teams!
February 5th, 2008 at 12:05 pm
It was a thriller…thrillah, yeah! 5 sacks on Brady, 18 knockdowns and hurries on Brady…there’s your reason for the big W.
February 5th, 2008 at 12:57 pm
My brother just e-mailed me a suggestion for the best catch in super bowl history
How about
“The Great Escape”
February 5th, 2008 at 4:17 pm
Great win, I have been growing a playoff beard from before the Bucs game till today Feb. 5. The Giants playoff run and my thick beard were truly amazing,
February 5th, 2008 at 6:23 pm
Awesome victory, Giants Fans! I’m an Eagle guy but I need to congratulate my NFC East brothers!!! —-except for ROBNY77, whom I’m calling out as not a real New Yorker. ROBNY77 is a phony who’s masquerading as a G-man—-Giants fans, beware of this guy who has infiltrated your site—he’s a 30-year-old virgin who claims to be rich and a big shot in the Big Apple, but don’t be fooled….He’s an out-of-state guy who’s just tagging along for the parade. All hail the REAL Giants Fans and the great work of Spags!
February 6th, 2008 at 4:58 pm
Screw Eli. He sucks. The giants should have kept those draft picks and they would have been SB champs a lot earlier!!!!
Boy, how things change when you do something unbelievable.
The fact is, he’s been doing these kind of plays since he took over the starting job.
The media was driving the kid out of town earlier.
Now he’s the toast of the town.
Hypocrites.
