Should be some interesting battles at WR and at backup spots like RB. Interested in seeing how Paul Smith does. I plan on going to camp this year so I’ll see you in June Tim

There are quite a few interesting battles to keep an eye on during mini-camps and training camp this year.

We’ll hit on those latter. I still dont know if Brian Williams moving to S is the right move, but it seems like that is a possibility. If not, we have some interesting battler at the CB position for the Dime position. DE should be good to watch as well.

Don’t take everything a player says as gospel. The team hasn’t made a move yet according to the coaching staff. We’ll see what we’ve got when they take the field.

True and I dont think that would be the right move, jsut dont know why he’s said it then. My guess is that they will toy with it, but will move Brian back when they realize that he isnt a SS and that Sensabaugh is fully recovered.

Actually, Brian could probably prove to be a very good SS. I just don’t think they’ll pull the trigger because they have been very high on Sensabaugh. His decline last year was because of two shoulder injuries which have been subsequently repaired, and all indications are that he’s back to 100%.

They werent leg injuries, so that is always a good thing. I think Williams is too small to be a consistent starter at SS, although it might be good to have him learn the position incase Sensabaugh doesnt work out. Periolou is solid but up there and years, and Nkang isnt established as a SS, so Williams might get some reps, but I agree, he likely wont stick there.

Williams is about the same size as Sensabaugh.
Bob Sanders is considered one of the better Strong Safeties in the NFL, and he’s 5′8, 206.
Troy Polamalu is 5′10, 207.
Williams is pretty much a prototypical safety these days. The days of the SS being another linebacker are long gone. It’s a combination of speed and coverage skills. Big hitters like Darius are dinosaurs because he was a huge liability in pass coverage.
