10 Bold Statements: New York Jets

10 things I feel confident in saying after following the Jets this pre-season:

1. Leon Washington is the most exciting player on the team. Thomas Jones will be great, but Washington will be far from an after thought, think of Jones as Deuce McCallister and Leon as a poor man’s Reggie Bush.

2. Mike Nugent will be a pro bowl kicker this year. If you take out the opening game last year, he would have received heavy consideration and he has shown nothing but improvement this traning camp.

3. Trading up for Darrelle Revis and David Harris were the right moves. Even after his lengthy holdout, Revis showed enough against the Giants to have Jets fans excited, and Harris has simply been a tackling machine since arriving.

4. Pete Kendall will be sorely missed. The Jets are weak at guard, and potentially at tackle if D’Brick doesn’t step up his play quickly.

5. Justin McCariens = Dedric Ward. Remember in 1998 when Dedric Ward was the Jets #3 WR and his season basically consisted of catching 4 40 yard touchdowns down the sidelines? I see McCariens in that role this year.

6. David Bowens and Bryan Thomas will battle for the team leader in sacks. On the otherhand, Kenyon Coleman will be a disapointment.

7. Darrien Barnes will quietly be a great acquistion.

8. The Jets will salvage a split against the Patriots again, however will not catch them for the division.

9. Jonathan Vilma will have a more productive year that last season, but still will not match the production from his first two seasons.

10. The Jets will finish 10-6 as the 5 seed in the AFC, unforunately the exact same spot the year before

K, first off, how can you feel “confident” after watching the jets this pre-season, they played awful in every single game.

Nugent isnt a pro bowl kicker, he’s no lock to make a PAT.

the patritos are on antoher level then the jets, they wil sweep the jets.

the jets oline will suffer, especially against the patriots.

the jets arn’t makeing the playoffs, they are overated this year. Their pre-season play has exsposed their weaknesses, and they have a bad Oline, and a bad Dline, and it’s those guys who win games.

plus the AFC is filled with teams lookin to get that wildcard, includeing pitsburg, cincinati, denver.

First off, it is the pre-season, the games don’t count. I certainly felt confident watching our backup running back score on an 80 yard touchdown on the first play from scrimmage against your Giants starting D. Nugent ended the year on fire last season, hitting 3 from over 50 yards and going 3/3 in the playoffs. The Pats are better than the Jets, but they were last year and the Jets still beat them in New England. Their O-line isn’t great, but I certainly wouldn’t characterize it as bad.

Nugent converted 27 of his last 28 field goals, and missed his PAT on opening day…obviously a sign of maturity, that comment was laughable JB

the Jets Oline is weak, and it scares me….hopefully they can claim someone good off the waiver wire

Revis and Harris will be solid, cant say much bad about them, although Harris has been getting reamed alot by Westhoff during practice

Leon is money, he has moves on moves and will make alot of big plays for the Jets this season

jets did it last year and they lost pete kendall and bj askew and thats it so basically aside from kendall they got better and jb the preseason comment is vey laughable because everyone plays their hardest and suits up for preseason right jb lol

    steve,

besides the fact that your Giants got the most Vanilla playbook from the Jets, its a no-brainer that there isnt a team that will ever seriously gameplan against another in a preseason game. Players are given the plays, and asked to execute, no questions asked…how someone puts so much stock in a preseason game is quite humorous…to be kind

but hey, keepin it real now, if you want to make a case that this preseason matchup was an important game, the Jets still won 20-12

take your trash talk back to Giants 101…its embarassing to your fellow Giants fans, at least the knowledgable and respectful ones

Somthing needs to be done with these obnoxious Giants fans that come on here. I enjoy reading articles about the Jets, but it is disgusting to see these Giants fans always come on here and blast the Jets.
