Lions - Rd 3 (87)- Andre Fluellen, DT, Florida St.

With the 87th pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions select Andre Fluellen, defensive tackle from Florida State.

Prior to the 2oo7 season, Fluellen was projected as the 5th best defensive tackle prospect in the nation, but was slowed during the season by injuries. He does have some upside as a run-stuffer and pass rusher.

His height has been listed anywhere from 6-1 3/4 to 6-4 and weights in the 280-300 area. From what I have read about him, he seems to have as many knocks against him as he does pluses. I would have liked to have seen Cliff Avril, Justin King, or Kellen Davis here.

I was okay with what we had done so far, but this pick puzzles me some. Too early to reach here and trading down should no longer be a choice Matt.
