Lions - Rd 3 (92)- Cliff Avril, DE, Purdue

As I am making the post for Fluellen and complaining, the Lions deal with the Cowboys and grab the 92nd selection with what looks like was our 4th round selection (112th overall).

With the 92th pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions select Cliff Avril, defensive tackle from Purdue. This pick is solely designed off a need to get to the opponent’s quarterback and I feel this was a good get for the Lions here.

Though perhaps undersized for an every-down defensive end, he will make a good situational pass-rusher and would have be nabbed by a 3-4 team to play a rush linebacker and plays well in space versus the run and pass.
