Brett Favre Retiring
Well, the day has finally come. Brett Favre is retiring from the NFL and the Green Bay Packers. Favre has informed Coach Mike McCarthy of his decision and no doubt a news conference will take place in the next day or two.
It is obviously a sad day for Packer Nation and I’m sure everyone here at the Frozen Tundra will weigh in with their thoughts shortly. I will do so later in the day as well.
I don’t have all my thoughts collected at the moment as I’m still in shock but first and foremost I just want to say thank you, Brett. Thank you for a career of unforgettable moments and memories that I will keep cherished in my mind for a lifetime.

I also don’t have nearly all my thoughts collected yet. I think for now I’m going to follow Jesse’s lead and send my congrats to Brett for all the wonderful memories he’s given us. It’s now up to Aaron Rodgers, whom I wish the best of luck. I believe he’ll perform well in 2008.
A couple quick thoughts: FIrst, one of my buddies who lives in Green Bay called a told me that Favre’s agent, Bus Cook, told a local radio station that Favre did, in fact, want to return for another season but that the Packers didn’t want him to. Anyone hear anything along those lines?
Another rumor I heard was that Favre was again demanding that they sign Randy Moss. Again, that’s just a rumor. Anything to it?
Finally, I hope Favre sticks with his decision to retire and doesn’t pull an MJ/Reggie. That is, unless Rodgers goes down for the season at a crucial time . . .
Anyway, I’m still in disbelief and am typing crazy, disconnected thoughts. I’m going to gather myself some more and post something a bit later after the dust has settled and my mind has cleared. Thanks for making the past 16 years truly wonderful, Brett.

Well, just to fuel the rumor mill…it is funny that he retires the day after Moss re-signs with the Patriots. Ok, I’m done with the rumors because they just don’t matter right now. Look for his press conference soon.

Giant Season ticket holder here just saying the NFL will miss a great QB and a class guy. Good luck Brett!

ESPN is reporting that he would have stayed if they had signed Moss. Also, the quote from Cook was that “nobody pushed him out the door, but nobody encouraged him to stay either.”
I love Brett and am devastated to see him go. Being from NY, I was going to fly down to GB this year for the last home game to see Brett. I am also excited to see the Aaron Rodgers era begin. People will begin writing them off, but if Rodgers could be solid, they remain the best team in the division, with a good running game, a good O line and recievers, and a talented, improving defense. Should be fun!

I hope the rumors aren’t true - I have loved and adored Brett from his begining and I would hate to think that just because Moss didn’t sign with the Packers that he would let his fans and team down by retiring, he just doesn’t seem to be that kind of person. Also, I woud think it dispicable if the suits in the front office didn’t want him to come back, for crying out loud they almost made it to the SuperBowl this year! Because of Brett!
That being said I would like to wish Mr. Brett Favre the best of luck and a heart felt thank you for all the great years!!!!!!!!!!
