The Patriot Act

Patriots, Brady ‘light up’ the Chargers

Quarterback Tom Brady and wide receiver Randy Moss led the New England Patriots in a 38-14 defeat of the San Diego Chargers.

Brady (25 of 31, 1 INT) took advantage of coverage mismatches and threw for 3 touchdowns. Moss ran multiple routes including short outs, coming across the middle and a few times just ran strait by the coverage and continues to deliver as caught the ball 8 times for 105 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The running game continues to improve as the Patriots had 144 yards rushing. Laurence Maroney did not break the 20 carries barrier this week, but did perform well carrying 15 times for 77 yards. This was significantly better the Chargers LaDanian Tomlinson, who for the second week in a row struggled achieving only 43 yards on 18 carries.

Defensively, the Patriots dominated for most of the game and Roosevelt Colvin was on fire having five tackles, two sacks, a force fumble and an interception on Philipp Rivers. There was a bit of concern in the first half when AD Thomas went down and had to leave the game, but not long afterwards Thomas also intercepted Rivers and ran it back for a touchdown.

Special teams was not so special today as last week Ellis Hobbs runs a kick off return for a touchdown and this weeks fumbles the ball away. Stephen Gostkowsi still struggles inside the 40 as he went 1 for 2. Wes Welker also fumbled a punt return, but was able to recover it.

The Pluses

Tom Brady - still Mr Cool and gets the job done

Randy Moss - thanks for joining and even running the short routes. Dunkin DOnuts should give him a commercial spot.

Rosy Colvin - walks the walk after talking the talk.

AD Thomas - hey there you are!

The Minuses

Stephen Gostkowski - second year slump?

Ellis Hobbs - a fumble and a pass interference call that negates an interception and extends the Chargers drive and ends with Antonio Gates catching a touchdown

Questionable

Offensive line - Brady was sacked too often and benefited when Jamal Williams left the game

So much for that video tape. LOL. LT may want to keep his mouth shut next time. Gotta love his press conference. He had to eat crow. Anyway, the Moss experience is working and along with one of my favorite players to watch, Wes Welker. I think Stalworth is a waste of space, IMO. Give the playing time to Gaffney. We’ll be seeing ya’ll very soon and should be good game. At least I think my team, the Ravens will be playing ya’ll. I’m not sure.

The Pats came in ready to play and prove themselves all over again. This may carry over the entire season as they try and “legitamize” their Superbowl run. Of course, they don’t have to legitamize anything to us fans.
LT after the game said the Chargers were walking into a trap. LOL C’mon man, just say you got beat.
