The Patriot Act

Walsh’s SpyGate smoking gun shoots blanks

Matt Walsh, the controversial former video employee of the New England Patriots, has certified in writing that he is turning over eight stolen video tapes containing stolen signals from his time with the Pats. However, he does not have a tape containing video of the St. Louis Rams walk-through before Super Bowl XXXVI. This alleged video was the “smoking gun” that garnered much media attention before the Super Bowl against the New York Giants earlier this year. It appears that Walsh was simply looking for his 15 minutes of fame, and this whole controversy can finally be laid to rest.

The eight tapes that Walsh handed over did contain the following, according to a certified document obtained by the Boston Globe:

Signals from Dolphins coaches in a game Sept. 24, 2000.

Offensive and defensive signals of Dolphins coaches from a game Oct. 7, 2001.

Signals from Bills coaches from a Nov. 11, 2001, game.

Signals from Browns coaches from a game Dec. 9, 2001.

Two tapes of signals from Steelers coaches from the 2001 AFC Championship game, held Jan. 27, 2002.

Signals from Chargers coaches from a game Sept. 29, 2002.

Belichick admitted to videotaping signals since he started coaching the Patriots in 2000, so again these tapes contain nothing new. The Patriots will not be further penalized by the NFL, as these are consistent with what the NFL already knows. According to NFL spokesman Greg Aiello,

This is consistent with what the Patriots had admitted they had been doing, consistent with what we already knew.”

Had Walsh been telling the truth about the Rams tape, further penalties, including a possible suspension of Coach Belichick, would surely have followed.  I hope this finally puts to rest the whole SpyGate saga. The last piece of the puzzle is in place, and it fits in perfectly with the rest of the puzzle. I’m sure no apologies are forthcoming from anyone in the media or any fans that were certain this Rams tape existed, and starting questioning the Patriots’ accomplishments over the past decade. That’s fine with me. I’m glad this is finally over and done with and I don’t have to talk or write about this anymore. On to the next season!

Go Pats!

Only the Pats page would be advertising that there is nothing new in the Spygate tapes. Everyone else knows that it is Goodell covering up what would be more of a black eye on the NFL. Truth is that this new info means that as many as 11 teams were taped by the Pats. And right in the middle of their sudden surprising success…hmmm. That also includes their AFC championsip game against the Steelers which is NEW information for sure. Jamie you are dreaming if you think this is the end of this. Not by a long shot. It is the end of the Pats success though. Hopefully we won’t hear anything about them anymore. On to next season!

Patriots cheated Steelers period. Move on please, all of your super bowls are tainted forever. YOU KNEW WHAT THE OTHER TEAMS WERE DOING!

Still 5 STEELERS Super Bowls to 3 for you LOSERS

I mean you do have to say it is very ironic the Pats started winning right around the time they started taping everybody…..i don’t wanna take anything from the players themselves, but its fishy man, real fishy

Nobody wants to actually do any investigative journalistic work anymore… Let’s all just wait until it comes over the wire and then we can rewrite it, put OUR name on it, and call it good.

The practice of taping other teams signals has been going on by every team in the NFL for years. It continues to go on. Everyone knows it’s against the rules and the Patriots got caught with their hands in the cookie jar. But it’s over! Walsh has nothing! Specter needs to be more concerned with matters of national security and economic stability. If he is so damned interested in some taped football signals then he should retire his sorry ass from the Senate and get into the NFL.

Why don’t you lazy reporters do some freaking research and dig up some tapes from OTHER teams. I guarantee they are out there… either that or Bill Belichick is the ONLY PERSON EVER in the histoy of football to try to one up his opponent. Damn!!!! Belichick IS a genious!

Guys, what exactly is the new material? They started taping in 2000, and they were 5-11 that year, so to say it started in the middle of their success is 100% wrong. They also were a pretty poor team the following season until Tom Brady took over at QB. Get your facts straight.

How were the Steelers cheated? OH! That’s right! Bill Belichick ran onto the field and made Kordell Stewart throw those INTs in the 2002 AFC Championship game! How foolish of me to forget that! Oh yeah! Belichick threw video tapes at the Steelers’ special teams players while Troy Brown ran back a punt for a TD! AND he told the punter to punt the ball into the middle of the field instead of the sideline like Cowher wanted him to do. Yep, those Patriots sure stole that game.

    You guys are ridiculous.

I WANT NEW MATERIAL You can guarantee NOTHING. You don’t know Sh*t in regards to what every team in the league is doing. That reasoning is the same BS cop-out that all Pats fans are trying to pull over everyone because you are in denial. Remember the game that the lowly Dolphins trounced the Pats and Bellicheat was whining about them stealing signals? Hmmm funny that. Who would know better than Bill about stealing signals. There is a saying that says “thieves always think people are stealing from them”. He practices cheating so he was quick to notice when the tables were turned. FOR ONCE. That game proved that the Pats are the ones who are doing it and the one time another team stole signals (never proven to be taped though mind you) the Pats got their asses handed to them. Bellicheat fits right into New England. Whining like all of his team’s fans have done for generations. Your team is a fraud with three tainted rings. Deal with it.

LMAO Jamie “100% wrong”. Yeah they went from 5-11 to winning the SuperBowl the next year. HAHAHA. that would be what is known as 100% correct.

lets try to get this straight the patriots were not punished for video taping the siignals they were punnished for doing it on the side lines if they did it from the stands it would haave bee ok let me see now i havew a digital movie camera and i can zoom it in from very far away like the top og the stadium and see very clearly the hand movements of all the coachs and players i haave tried this so i know it to be so

Spoken like a true troll LDizzle. I admit the Super Bowl XLII loss was something that might’ve been long coming, but go fuck yourself on the three tainted rings.

Honestly, even people like Jimmy Johnson acknowledges that every team has done this. Hell the Jets did the same thing to the Ravens in the 2007 season but of course no one wanted to go after them because the Pats were the hate flavor of the month. I’m not saying it’s right, not by a long shot, but fuck you for once again casting the entire New England fanbase as whiny losers who had to cheat to accomplish anything. And about a 5-11 team who wins the SB the year after, what about the Rams who were 4-12 the year before? Did they cheat after such a comeback the next season? Like the Pats the year after, I don’t think so.

Yeah they got caught and they got punished, but like Arlen Specter, you really need to worry about bigger things that or just go kindly fuck yourself. And I’ve also been to Pittsburgh Mike…it sucks.

    LDIZZLE - Oh, Oh, Oh…

I am not denying the fact that the Patriots got CAUGHT filming signals. Everyone knows that. They ponied up to the charges, took the punishment and moved on.

Then a story comes across the wire and every bonehead in cyberspace thinks, “oh geez, I better smear the Pats with a story I can’t confirm.”

In addition to spreading gossip you can’t confirm, you admit you know other teams do EXACTLY the same thing the Pats got busted for… tape the signals of opposing teams.

“…everyone else is doing it”, you say.

So then I say get the tapes of the Denver Broncos “stealing” signals. And the tapes of the Cincinnati Bengals “stealing” signals. Or how about the tapes of the New York Jets “stealing” signals since they started this stupid debacle. Now THAT would make you a god amongst sports freaks. If you know it’s going on then go get it, bring it to the attention of the fans, and make the problem in whole go away. Crucifying the Patriots will not stop other teams from “stealing” signals. Damn. It’s not even that the signals were filmed. It’s WHERE they were filmed from. If the camera man had been in the stands or anywhere on the field other than the opposing teams sideline this whole thing would be a moot point.

But please, oh-oh-oh master of the blog, continue to perpetuate this Propagandas non-story.

    Love you.

Pats are favored 4-1 to win the Super Bowl by the way.

Geez. I thought posting this story what kill the whole thing, but I guess if you want to burn someone at the stake, you’ll do it no matter what truth is in your way. Ridiculous. You haters need to get a clue. The Pats aren’t the only team to go from worst to first. The taping happened DURING the 2000 season. Whole lot of good it did that year. Get over it.

WOW, Jamie…….like all Patriot fans, you are really a true ass-face. The Patriots have been cheating for years and now you expect the media and fans to apologize to them because no new information has been revealed? Enjoy those meaningless Superbowl victories, while us Steeler fans have 5 legitimate ones to celebrate.

You are right: nothing new here. But I love the Pats fans that act like this somehow exonerates their team, when it does just the opposite. They cheated. Whether or not that is why they ultimately won is debatable. But they did cheat, their dynasty should be tainted, and this doesn’t change the record books or the experience that anyone involved with the Pats had watching their team win all those Super Bowls. Oh, and anyone who wants an asterisk is an asshole.
