TFDS Prayer of the Week: Changing Faces

Once again, the preacher that we feature here at TFDS is back to share words of wisdom and offer some thoughts to ponder. This week’s message by, Pastor Mando of Nation Ministry, has to do with the change of the staff and what that can bring to the team. He also discusses the rewards for the investment that has already been made for the season and how it can symbolize all things in life. Read the rest of this entry »

Oakland Raiders need a leader
Al Davis is known for loathing disciplinarians as coaches. He believes that it is important for the locker room to police itself. Once upon a time that idea worked perfectly. The Raiders had their zany characters, but the core of the team was the solid vets with names like Jim Otto, Gene Upshaw, and Art Shell. The guys could do what they liked away from the practice field, but once it came time to suit up, even the heartiest partiers went to work. The key to the success of the Raiders was the locker room leadership. In a more recent time, it worked once again as leaders like Tim Brown, Rich Gannon, and Jerry Rice kept the team together despite the lack of discipline from the top. Today’s Raiders do not have those leaders, and that is reflected in the current doldrums in which the Raiders reside.
Madsen back with the Raiders - Seth Wand put on IR

So the Raiders didn’t let Madsen get away to another team. After being cut before the Buffalo game for the Ben Troupe free-agent signing, the Raiders recalled him from their unofficial practice squad by re-signing him today in place of the injured Seth Wand. Wand will go on the IR with a knee injury. This signing gives the Raiders four tight ends on the roster. It’s an odd signing due to the fact that Madsen is not known for his blocking and had a terrible time catching passes from JaMarcus Russell before he was released. Madsen was already at practice this morning.

Oakland Raiders first quarter report card
The Oakland Raiders have played their way through the first quarter of the season and have a 1-3 record and a new coach to show for it. The Raiders rebounded from their opening game disaster to transform into what appears to be a competitive football team. There have been highlights and low lights on both sides of the ball. The only thing that has been consistent is inconsistency.

Bright days ahead for the Silver and Black?
Now that the business of winning football games is the only thing on minds at 1220 Harbor Bay Parkway, what is it that the Oakland Raiders need to shore up before that winning can begin? The Raiders went into the bye-week ranked 19th in total offense, 25th in points per game, 17th in total defense, and 22nd in points allowed per game. Nobody can deny that the Raiders are better than at least eight teams in the NFL, but if they plan to be one of the top eight in the AFC they’ll have to figure out ways to get better on both sides of the ball. Random bye week Oakland Raiders Thoughts from the Dark Side
I hate the bye week. Its a week where there is no Raider football to enjoy. It is a good time for the team to get healthy, and with the Raiders having a coaching change it becomes even more crucial. This has been a frustrating first quarter of the season for the Raider Nation, not just with the losing, but with Alameda headquarters becoming the theater of the absurd. Here are a few random thoughts to help quell the Raider fix as you pass through the bye week.
Oakland Raiders: Does winning require a hope and a prayer?

Now that the hysteria has died down, the reality has sunk in, and everyone has already formed their opinions on one of this week’s biggest stories of the week - along with the bailout, the V.P. debate and now O.J. getting convicted and going to prison possibly for life. The story of Al and Lane is over, but left behind is the same question that the Raiders have been facing since Bill Callahan was fired over five years ago: Will the Raiders ever win again? Bye week crucial for Tom Cable: Thoughts from a Reader’s Side
