Kwame Harris and Gibril Wilson Raider free agent targets

profootballtalk.com has reported that Kwame Harris has been signed by the Oakland Raiders, then rescinded that report saying that a deal wasn't expected to be done until this weekend. Gibril Wilson of the New York Giants is another player the Raiders are charging after hard. It looks like the Raiders are being proactive in addressing their needs. Offensive tackle and safety are both positions where the Raiders are in dire need of an upgrade.

After the mammoth contract the Raiders gave Tommy Kelly, look for them to get into the ring to grab other free agents now that they can go after players from other teams. The Raiders may have to pay more to get players to come in light of the offseason soap opera that has been coming out of Alameda. The early contacts and contracts will set the tone for the rest of the free agency period.

In other news, Jerry Porter is set to visit Jacksonville to meet with the Jags, and Tyler Brayton is said to be meeting with the Carolina Panthers.

Wow...huge Giants fan here. If you guys get Wilson, you may win 5 games this year. Not a slap in the face. It is just reality. The Raiders need much more than a Free Safety to turn that ship around. I think the money should be spent elsewhere....especially because I don't want to lose Gibril.

Not to mention, $6.5 is absurd.

JUST WIN BABY!!!!!!

Go Get Um Al!!! I have been talking Gibril for a month, and I believ that or secondary will be untouchable if we get him. Nnamdi, Rout, Fabian(NB), Huff (FS), Gibril (SS) is a great secondary.

For those of you that are interested in Kwame Harris, check out the scouting report.....

Patrick, it seems this guy has a motivation/motor problem and an underachiever, but it seems from the scouting report that there is a lot of upside to the young guy. What have you heard?

I have been a fan of Kwame for some time. The guy is huge and can be a positive influence on the Raiders line (much needed). Wilson is a good safety and would be amazing in our secondary compared to Stu. I think Rob Ryan would add a great weapon on this move. Time to move on Stu...

I love Wilson, always have since his rookie year. But 6-6.5 mil a year? Now that is just absurd. Maybe they are hoping that his ring will inspire that locker room.

If signed, Harris and Wilson would be a great improvement to the "Raiders" , especially Wilson!

I'M IN !!!!!!

I fthe Raiders get wilson AND Gibril and then added Chris Long or Dorsey or Ellis, you would be looking at massive defensive improvement.

The Raiders would vault above the donkeys and the Chefs and battle the chargers for the division.

AL should trade 1st round pick to AZ for Fitzgerald and their 3rd round pick.

Whatever OAK decides with the 1st pick, they should look hard at Jordy Nelson from KSU. He's fast, tough and would be a great p/u. I don't know if he'll be around by round 4.

Great pick up getting SS Gibril Wilson! Pick up T Kwame Harris to play RT and target one of the 3 wr's Berrian, Bryant Johnson, Stallworth! Lets go to the draft baby!!! Oh, now we can entertain trading S Michael Huff, cb fabian washington, and DT Sands or Warren for CB Deangelo Hall and a 3rd round pick! what do u think about that nation?

Here's a prediction that I can really see happening. The Raiders will not resign Nnamdi Asoumgha next year. We will move to a cover two defense, where safetys are more important than corner backs. Gibril as SS and Huff at FS with their great coverage skills fit the cover two defense in a great way. We let Nmandi go, and Routt, Washington, and Bowie do a good job playing corner for us. We have the Warren Sapp player to play his role in the Cover 2 in Tommy Kelly who we locked up. We have the play making weakside linebacker in Thomas Howard. Everyone, Rob Ryan will be gone next year and we will move to a cover two, thats just my prediction.

By the way, we should be dishin out huge contracts to players that are always motivated and work very hard, cause we can rely on these guys to still work hard even after they get rewarded with mas $$$

I definitely agree with RaiderKC on Jordy Nelson. I've been saying it all along. I think he will be around in the 4th round. Would be an excellent pick. He's not getting any publicity and that is good if oakland is interested.
