Oakland Raider Legend Greg Townsend in Modesto
Just a heads up to any readers who are in the Central Valley, Oakland Raider all time sacks leader Greg Townsend is at the Vintage Fare Mall today and tomorrow signing autographs from 12-4.30. If you can, stop by get his signature and talk with him. He is a really cool guy, and a Raider for life.  You can get your picture taken with him, or he will sign photographs such as the one above.
I got to take a few minutes and to talk to him, and he still loves the Raiders. I asked him what he thought the current Raiders needed, and his reply was, "We need more bad-ass defensive ends."
I asked him of the Kilmba Edwards signing. He didn't recognize the name, but when I told Townsend that Edwards was a DE, he said, "Then it was a good signing."
He was talking about his last year playing being '97, and we talked about the Denver game that year. He said something about that being their Super Bowl year, and I made a joke about John Elway needing him out of the league to get a ring. Townsend laughed and said, "Elway, man I sacked him forty-something times."

Townsend was the man, i think he sacked elway 4 times in the same game, i remember that. He always played great ball for the raiders. 84.5 sacks i think he had. defensive ends can set the tone for a game on any play.

I got Townsend's autograph at Universal Stuidos last year. He just showed up when I was there for a Huff and Howard signing. I got pictures and everything. He is a cool guy and his Raider jersey was just awesome.

G-Town had 108.5 sacks. The guy is awesome to talk to. He frequents the Raider Image circuit in So Cal signing autographs, talking and taking pictures. I have had the pleasure of speaking with the legend on multiple occasions. He was working with a couple of players on the Riverside Community College football team. Check out your local Raider Image and see when he will be in next. The man looks like he could still play!!

Townsend do look good for someone who's been retired for awhile. Man! Those were the days when the Raiders were feared. If you made jokes like they're doing to the Raiders now, you'd get a punch in the mug. I'm hoping they can bring some respectability back to the Silver and Black.
