Thoughts from the Dark Side

Cockroaches: The origins of the Raider Haters

They are out there and have been riding high these last few years. You know who they are. They are the Raider Haters. Those people who are passionately obsessed with hating the Oakland Raiders. Some of them root for rival teams, whilst others don’t have a team they like, they just hate the Raiders. Many of them seem to be more obsessed with hating the Raiders than supporting their own team. Its kind of sad, really to have that much negativity to burn. Where does this phenomenon come from? There is no team that is as passionately and universally hated by its non-fans as the Silver and Black.

I think that the roots of the Raider Hater movement rest in the salad days of the Raiders. Once upon a time the Raiders not only beat their opposition, they dominated. The Raiders Stormed their way through the league, winning for decades. They were a team that everyone feared playing. From that domination, hatred arose.

Al Davis has been the sole figure at the top of the Raiders for decades. Davis has run the Raiders with an us against them attitude. In Al’s world view it is the Raiders and everyone else is the enemy. He goes after his enemies real and perceived with a take no prisoners approach. From that animosity, hatred arose.

Back when there were only three networks, and national TV games were rare. There were two teams that got the most national attention. The Dallas Cowboys who were “America’s Team” and the Oakland Raiders. The Cowboys were the good guys with the star on their helmets. They were clean cut, and had a wholesome All-American image. (This was long before Michael Irvin came along.) The Raiders on the other hand relished in their bad guy image. Their mascot was a pirate. They were clad in black. They let their hair grow long and looked more like the Oakland Chapter of the Hell’s Angels than an NFL team. they were the team that loved to be hated. From that bad guy image, hatred arose.

Now, with the Raiders in the worst slump in their history, everyone is piling on. A perfect example is my MVN colleague Ryan Brown who writes on the Chiefs site. He has a nearly pathological hatred towards the Raiders, so much so that its rare that one of his posts go by that don’t have a pot-shot at the Silver and Black. Its like the school yard bully is down, so everyone is getting their shots in. The haters have come out of the woodwork like cockroaches to laugh and point at the big bad Raiders while they are down. Well, guess what haters, the Raiders will be back on top where they belong.

I will let Tony Montana speak for Raider Nation……

“What you lookin’ at? You all a bunch of f***in’ a$$h***s. You know why? You don’t have the guts to be what you wanna be? You need people like me. You need people like me so you can point your f***in’ fingers and say, “That’s the bad guy.” So… what that make you? Good? You’re not good. You just know how to hide, how to lie. Me, I don’t have that problem. Me, I always tell the truth. Even when I lie. So say good night to the bad guy! Come on. The last time you gonna see a bad guy like this again, let me tell you. Come on. Make way for the bad guy. There’s a bad guy comin’ through! Better get outta his way!”

And for all the Haters, Tony doesn’t stop there…..

“You don’t got nothing to do with your life. Why don’t you get a job? Work with lepers. Blind kids. Anything’s gotta be better than lying around all day waiting for me to f*** you.”

Sorry about the length of this post but it’s necessary, as you will soon see……..

Raider Nation, are you as tired as I am of getting all your one-line Kiff comments from the Media? Yea, I thought so! My favorite is the medias’ use of one line in particular to spin their Raider hating rumors even further than they already have this off season. The line most used from Kiff’s recent interview is…..

“Where there is smoke there is fire!”

Reporters (like Nancy “Uber Rumor Monger” Gay) have used this comment to forward all their rumors from the (alleged) resignation letter, to the Rob Ryan situation. Well, enough is enough. It’s time Raider Nation was allowed to ACTUALLY READ THE TRANSCRIPT of the interview and come to their own conclusions. Thus Raider Nation, I present to you this link of the Full Transcript for your viewing pleasure.

    http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/.....1005KG.DTL

My favorite part, obviously for any of you that have paid any attention the last few months, addresses Run DMC. Supposedly, if you were to believe the Media, Lane has no interest in Run DMC. However, if you read between the lines, the Raiders interest is made very clear. Especially when you piece the whole Run DMC part of the interview together. Check this out!

Q: A lot of teams have you picking McFadden at #4. What’s your evaluation of him?

A: “Well, he’s a phenomenal player. Running back is really not a need for us. As we discussed earlier we have three running backs that rotated for us last year all coming back and then we also have Michael Bush who kind of red-shirted for us this last season.”

Q: Will the interest in McFadden help you guys [trade down]?

A: “I don’t know that. I think McFadden is a guy a lot of people would like to have. But you really have to have him targeted and know how you want to use him because he’s a unique player. To me, he’s a unique player. Maybe you have a system where he’s not going to fit what you want to do.”

    Q: How is he unique?

A: “Like I said, we really don’t have a need for running back. But looking at McFadden, I think you could spread him out. That’s what I would do with him - we did that with Reggie (Bush) some at USC. I’d look at him in that role myself.”

Q: Has he answered all the off-field questions?

A: “I think the few instances that he had, those were bad decisions that he made. But what excites me about him, if you were going to pick him, is his football personality. There are no issues on the field. There are no practice issues. This is a tough guy. He’s the off-returner on kickoffs and he asked to be there - people don’t usually ask to do that when they’re in a Heisman race and they’re worried about their draft status. They don’t want to block for somebody. But that’s what excites me about him.”

Hello Nation!! Can you say VERSATILITY!! Lane basically confirmed my belief that Run DMC will have an impact in every aspect of the game short of defense, and I’m not sure the guy couldn’t play safety too! (I kid, I kid. Just wanted to make sure your still paying attention!)

Remember, Honesty and the NFL Draft don’t mix! It’s all about misdirection, and the creation of confusion in your enemies thoughts. Basically, Lane stating that RB is not a big need means nothing, especially if you have the ability to read between the lines.

The Raiders Biggest Need is TDs! Thus…

    Al’s Mandate is McFadden!!

I like the idea of having the long ball J Rus threat balanced with Run DMC speed. We desperately need to stop the run though. I think Fargas is a stud and the type of guy we want to keep due to his loyalty. I see DMac being spread out and presenting a solid threat but Kif has to know he has a solid package where you include DMac. A package where he plays the type of minutes to support the check he’ll command. We could use another slot type receiver and will have to spend a pick on it so??? Pick your poison… If he makes that much difference in scoring and brings in fans then do it. If not then get the DE run stopper - we won’t pick this high again so???

  4. Raider Blues says:

    April 5th, 2008 at 4:24 am

JRus with Walker, the TE hookup is already in place, Running Backs are just fine with a downfield threat in Walker, but add to it the Run DMC spread out and you had better be able to score…

More Coach Kif - he really is the right coach for Oakland Just commit baby!

More Al this offseason and last draft best I’ve ever seen from him.

It’s better to be “hated” than “ignored.”

It’s kinda like a woman being gawked at. Some cats will get besides them selves at the notion that men in public are checking out their chick.

I say; if they were starring then, you have something worth starring at. If your woman is being ignored…..

So we must have something; just look at all the energy being exerted toward our team.

I actually kinda enjoy the haters. Their life (financial, marital, and spiritual) situations must be immaculate for them to expend such resources on us. Or; are they simply stealing from themselves? Go figure.

It’s not so much the Raiders I hate - though all 31 other teams would probably have to cease to exist before I rooted for the Oakland team -

It’s Raider Nation that makes me shake my head…and make me glad I’m not them. I can appreciate your undisputed support for your team - that’s more than admirable. But more often than not, Raider fans subscribe to a “We’re right, everyone else is wrong, and if you think otherwise, then go F@CK yourself.”

I have said SEVERAL times that the fans that come to Pat’s excellent site are delusional - and that’s not a compliment. Your team has been in the cellar’s cellar for the past 5-6 years - yet you continue to maintain that you’re one or two players away from turning the corner.

(Here’s where I pause and let the Raider Nation remind me that the Chiefs had the same record as Oakland last year and that they won in Kansas City for the first time since the Carter adminstration…everyone done? Okay - let’s move on.)

Raider Haters exist because Oakland fans bring it on themselves. By refusing to admit or realize that their team, their owner and their fans are the biggest laughingstock in the league, they continue to perpetuate the myth that Oakland fans are idiots and only live to wear their Darth Vader helmets and spiked shoulderpads on Sundays.

(I’ll pause again for the “You would get your ass kicked in the Colesium” lines here - and you’re right. I’ll probably never go to a Raiders game in Oakland. The combined stench of food stamps, failed GED’s and urine would probably be too much to bear.)

I support a fanbase that supports their team unconditionally - and Oakland definitely offers that. But unless you realize that your team is a ship without a rudder right now, then you will never be in on the joke - you’ll just continue to be the punchline.

    Go Chiefs!

    Ryan,

    you mentioned food stamps?

” About 80 percent of eligible Missourians get food stamps, one of the highest participation rates in the country.”
    http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-sear.....l=GooglePM

“Kansas had the second-steepest drop in average household income of any state: It plummeted by $1,890 to $43,204. And Missouri was one of just two states to see both average household incomes decline and the poverty rate rise.”
    http://www.accessmylibrary.com.....586355_ITM

    and failed GEDs?

“A study has found that the Kansas City School District’s graduation rate ranks 40th among school districts in the nation’s 50 largest cities.”
    http://www.nebraska.tv/Global/story.asp?S=8098544

Next time take a second to look at your own situation before you start resorting to low blows like you did.

And I bet that if you did come to a game in Oakland and kept your mouth shut you would not get your ass kicked. I’ve personally seen lions fans walk through the parking lot in powder blue jerseys facing of plenty of jeers, but no violence. Besides, it will allow you a chance to witness the most passionate fans in all of pro sports.

    Ryan,

You have reached a new low, and have set a far worse example for middle America than any Raiders fan ever will ever for Oakland.

“The combined stench of food stamps, failed GED’s and urine would probably be too much to bear.”

Its comments like this that make me realize how uneducated and unscrupulous you really are. Shame on you for dragging the economics of Oakland, and the terrible hardships many in this city go through, into a simple discussion of football. I doubt that many of the economically unfortunate Chef fans would appreciate your comments, especially concidering the hard times that this country and many of its people are going through.

It’s one thing to make fun of Raider Nation for their blind fanaticism, but to be so ruthless and uncaring as drag people down simply due to their economic situation is beneath even Chef fans.

I will remind you the Economic situation of the East Bay is a result of the 2nd great migration during WWII. Our city, and our Bay is made up of quality blue collar Americans that moved from places like Kansas City to help with the War effort by building liberty ships and other ships of war in Mr. Kaiser’s ship yards.

I can understand you making cracks about our allegiance to the greatest franchise in Professional Football history, but dragging peoples economic hardships into the conversation is beneath even you, proves your uneducated, and drags through the mud the same people that have roots in your part of the country. By cracking on them for economic reasons, you are cracking on yourself. The fact that you can’t see this is sad, and highly unfortunate.

You set a terrible example for not just Chef fans, but for all Americans.

    Yo Ryan

You have the worst O-line in the NFL. You have no Quarterback. Your RB is comming off a major injury. You have 1 receiver and are in a division with 3 of the top 4 cornerback combo’s in the NFL. Your defense sucks. The only thing you’ve done in the off season is cut one of your geriatric corners and whine about long hair. The only thing you have to look foreward to in 2008 is to get the top pick in the 2009 draft. Worry about your own sh!t, not ours….

I never tooted my team’s horn - because they are in total, complete, utter rebuilding mode. I have yet to say that the Chiefs will have a better record than Oakland next year - only that I would venture to guess you will not win in KC again in 2008.

In fact, I have said (several times) that an 0-16 or 1-15 season is very possible. Not likely, but possible. Kansas City is in a terrible position - and probably aren’t done getting worse. The difference is that I am aware of it and acknowledge it - Raider fans are in a similar position, but are making Super Bowl plans.

    Go Chiefs!

In recent years, they have failed to live up to their historic domination but nonethesless Raider Nation has always stood strong representing the Silver & Black and over the span of these last five years has only grown stronger bonds with team. I remember once when I was quietly taking a walk proudly wearing my Raider apparel when this randon guy in his car shouted, “Raiders suck, you f***er!”. I Minded my own bussiness untill another car rode past with another random dude poked out of his car yelling “Screw the Raiders”. lets see what they have to say next season. The reason people hate us is due to jealousy, no doubt about it. People like to live in their picket fence, daisies in the garden, fantasy world. But reality is that there is hardship and hard times. The Raider nation beleives that there isn’t always a level playing field and people may screw up once or twice in their life as a result of a difficult upbringing and or a tough environment. We give these individuals a second chance. We hired the first black head coach, the first Hispanic head coach, and currently employ the highest ranking woman executive in Pro Football. Al Davis said it doesn’t always have to be a pound it out running game, let’s throw the long ball and see if your corners can keep up w/ our speedy receivers. We do things our way, for the underdogs on the planet. The jealous haters like normalcy in their daily routine. They wish they could be the bad boys, but they can’t. They can’t understand how beautiful woman can be attracted to a bad boy. They hate that we can do things our own way: with guys that have screwed up once or twice in their past, with a fan base full of convicts, with the long ball, and still win. It’s been a while since we’ve been winners but the Raiders are like our buddies, they’re not always winners in life but they’re still our buddies. And we will win again, with Al Davis at the healm, and the haters won’t be able to stand it, because they wish they were a part of it.

    Just a few quick comments.

Nation, haters come onto Raiders boards for one reason and one reason only. There teams’ fans do NOT have enough passion to be on their OWN teams’ boards. Fifth Whore….I mean Horseman is home with nobody to talk to so he comes onto our boards where numbers are strong, and this way he’ll have someone to talk to rather than being home alone feeling like a loser. So to all of the haters…whatever! Get it all out now! We will be better this year and we will be back.

When we were winning, the only smack you had on Raider fan was, “You’re all a bunch of criminals and child molesters.” Yeah, oooOOOOHHH!! You really got us there! sbdice couldn’t have said it better…we could care less about your team.

Another thing - They fear you Nation. They fear that guys like Violator or Spike or Gorilla Rilla are finally NOT going to be supporting their team for, what seems like, nothing. They are afraid of a SILVER AND BLACK planet. They don’t understand why, even without hope we remain strong and optimistic. Raider Nation looks at the glass half full, and that mystifies them.

Last thing to Ryan, the Fifth Hoaxman, and all of the haters. I don’t try to speak for all of Raider Nation, but I’ll give you a glimpse from the inside. I wrote this for another site, take a moment to read it. Maybe then, instead of ignorantly disrespecting rabid LOVERS of their team you can finally come back with real smack other than the meaningless, classless, and useless things you come on here to say to us now.

I would rather hear/read, “You guys suck! We’re gonna’ whip you this year,” than “You criminals, druggies, and welfare….” Get my point? For all of the stereotypes that Raider Nation has, besides seeing one of us threaten life and limb, I can’t remember seeing us calling names that were meant to be so personal.

So what if we’re a bunch of criminals? Last time I checked, leaving others alone to congregate with like minded individuals and root for their team isn’t a crime. Slander, libel, and assault are though.

I have even more respect now, and more props for Patrick picking you up of the FA list! (or would that be restricted FA due to your other affiliations? LOL!)

I have two favorite parts of this article…..

    1. “Even if you are a Denver fan, you’ve got to throw up in your mouth a little when you hear someone on ESPN say, “Bronco Nation.” That’s just not right no matter how you spin it.”

    TRUE!!

    2. “The Raiders were the first to broadcast in Spanish, Navajo, Chinese, Japanese, and Tagalog as well as creating sites for these languages, along with German.”

You can’t get more American than Navajo!

By the way, I believe it was JT the Brick who coined the term ‘49er Empire’, so in fact you give the 49ers too much credit for being inventive. Ironic it was JT too, huh?

Truly entertaining seeing some of you attempt to convince others that you’re being smacked on because of “fear” or “jealousy” or “hate”.
Sometimes reality bites, Raider fans. In your case, believing all those bites are just “jealous nibbles” just makes you an even easier target.
Seriously, look at much of the sniveling above for a perfect example on why you are, in fact, the laughingstock.
NO, raider fans, not viewed as “passionate” or “devoted” or even knowledgeable (yes, been proven numerous times, even locally, that most wearing a Raider shirt hasn’t a single clue on the team except “da pirate is cool”) but the laughingstock.
InOneWord: “give people second chance”—-sorry dude, reality says Al is ignorant as far as money goes, and stupidly pays out sorry bucks for either over the hill players, past effectiveness or paying out for players who are injured or never performed. THAT LIST IS LOOOONNNNG. And please, I don’t want to hear about the 70’s regarding some malcontents that got drunk every night, but did well on Sundays.
InOneWord: Yeah, you HIRED the first black and hispanic coach..and then proceeded to screw over the first black and hispanic coach. Fired one of them TWICE, and ran the other one off to go coach in Seattle. Yeah, classy.
InOneWord: “wish can be bad boys, but you can’t” “beautiful women attracted to bad boys” “fan base full of convicts and still win” ????? LMAO..dude, you’re one of the PROBLEMS, not the solution. Sorry to inform you, but the Raiders AREN’T the badboys, and no one, as in NO ONE fears them. Look at you and your wannabee schtick..”Women want us”?? lol.. No, foolish poster, look at the dredge hanging out on the corners, acting all “bad”. The women that might want that is WAY down the list on what most would find even worthy of a glance, much less anything more. Reality says you’re the laughing stock because of foolish comments like yours. The “IMAGE” fan. Yeah, YOU. You think being a Raider fan makes you a badass, and I’ll bet numerous posters reading YOUR comments felt exactly that you and your type are one of the reasons the Raiders are such an easy target.
Deal with it (and no, saying ‘you wouldn’t say that to my face” doesn’t make you any “tougher” or covers up the fact that’s ALL you’ll have to say to this post.

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

Mike49er is yet more proof that 49er fans are feeling rather insignificant in the maelstrom that has been this off season. Blanket statements made w/o a shred of real information are pointless, and only serve to prove how small and insignificant the 49ers and their fans really are nowadays! Mike, go throw in a Bill Walsh legacy video, cause I think you need to be reminded how a real man acts. This is one of the most attention desperate 49er comments I have ever seen, and only serves to prove how far you have fallen from that high perch Walsh built for you 49er fans.

RobCalonge:There teams’ fans do NOT have enough passion to be on their OWN teams’ boards.

Read that and see if you can figure out, on your own, how silly and weak that is. Seriously. “Duh, they smack on us because they don’t want to be home alone”. “Numbers are strong” lol…See…when I want sushi? I go to a sushi bar. When I want to smack on Ram fans?? YEP, Ram board. Humbling Raider fans??
Come on..you can say it…exactly…you go smack on Raider fans on Raider sites. (BTW..it’s not just YOU guys that are oh so sensitive. Raider boards have this massive “quit picking on us” inferiority complex, and quickly state they’ll handle all “haters” just before they realize all they can muster is threats, and insults.

RobColonge: “When we were winning”?? Uh, Rob? Last I checked that was in 1984..you know..almost a quarter century ago? Might want to let go of the ‘when we were winning” take. Oh, and because I know it’s inevitable..since your last Ring the Niners have gotten FOUR. And yes, we both won “IN THE PAST”..but that’s not the point here, is it?

ANOTHER GEM from Rob: “Another thing - They fear you Nation. They fear that guys like Violator or Spike or Gorilla Rilla are finally NOT going to be supporting their team for, what seems like, nothing. They are afraid of a SILVER AND BLACK planet. They don’t understand why, even without hope we remain strong and optimistic. Raider Nation looks at the glass half full, and that mystifies them.”

Again, LMAO at you that actually live vicariously through a football team. Fear you? Fear WHAT exactly? No, foolish boy. What we’re worried about is Raider fans are going to STOP wearing those silly costumes. (yes, camera hounds, it’s no secret it’s all for tv time. That ever elusive “RED LIGHT IS ON” on the sideline camera, where the costumed characters go into their “act”.
And the “remain strong and optimistic”????
    WHAT ARE YOU BABBLING ABOUT??
Raider fans ARE THE WORST FANS IN THE NFL. No, not my opinion, that’s a FACT. In the last 5 years NO TEAM HAS HAD MORE HOME GAMES BLACKED OUT than the Raiders. Read it again, slowly if it will help. Oh sure, maybe some of you here support the Raiders but dude, give it up on that silly “We’re the best fans”. Card fans used to be the worst. Now the Raiders have taken over that position.
And save the “Oh, uh…well…gosh…ummm..WE HAVE FANS ALL OVER THE WORLD.” reply.
Every team has fans all over the world. I saw a hell of a lot more Niner fans, Cowboy fans, Dolphin fans in Europe than Raider fans…far..far and few between.

Lastly, Bobbo, as far as your comment about not seeing Raider fans call names that were meant to be personal?
Again, LMFAO..you obviously don’t post on any Raider boards. I can post a “Hello” and get any number of posters suggesting I do anatomically impossible things to myself. Schooling them on the futility of their season guarantees me dozens of personal insults.

Like it or not, Raider fans, we laugh because it’s funny. Al Davis running things…Lame Kiffin insulting Al between the lines, while refusing to go away…players buying out their contracts…others signing ridiculously huge contracts that no one would ever offer them…and yes, your coaching carousel of has beens/never was/soon to be gone can’t be ignored. You’re like the cartoon channel..always a new laugh.

Did you read my last comment? Obviously not, as you have yet again come forward with nothing but venom that simply proves Rob’s point! So, thank you for that. Your not too smart are you buddy?

I will let Rob respond to your rant, as it appears you have a serious inferiority complex that I am sure he will feast on!

I will respond to one of your comments however, and I will use facts rather than pointless rhetoric like yourself. You state…….

“Raider fans ARE THE WORST FANS IN THE NFL.”

If that is the case then why do the Raiders lead, or place in the top 3 in league in merchandising every year regardless of record? (That includes the last 5 seasons) The 49ers? Not even close!

Also, if you want to mention tix sales, then you should get your facts straight as the Raiders only recently took over their ticketing operations and televised all but one of their games since that point in time.

Again, your comments are the most attention desperate that I have ever seen from a 49er fan, and that makes me happy, as it proves how far your franchise has fallen. Bill Walsh read your comment, and turned in his grave with disgust.

    Try try again Tenderloin!

Why do I just know I can shred you in a discussion regarding the Raiders? lol. You preach about how a poster should just make certain comments, as if you’re above all that..and in a single post from moi’, you’re reduced to the hypocrite stage. Didn’t take long, now, did it?
I notice you had NOTHING to say regarding my comments. For a reason. Nothing I said you can dispute. No where in there can you make a case that makes sense.
Of course, you’re welcome to grow a pair and actually say something. My money says you won’t.

Naw..you’re the kool aid drinker. You post a link to a thread where there is no shortage of backhanded insults from Lame towards Al, yet you act blind, and bafooned. Read it again. Kiffin only made it clear Al paid too much money. That he signed injured players that might not pan out. That he went after Lofton, not Kiffin..shall I go on?
Back to YOUR silly comments:…actually, you’ve said very little..all you’ve managed to do was post a link while making it clear you selectively read..then you whined about others comments that hurt your widdle feelings..then, instead of dissecting my take, you whined yet again on why it is that nonRaider fans get you all flustered and bothered.
The only thing you actually said you got wrong.
JT the Brick did NOT come up with Niner Empire, lol…geez..again, you’re new at this, aren’t you?
Yeah, JT regularly said “Raider Nation” and “Niner Empire”. goody for you to somehow equate that as him coining the phrase. It’s been around for decades, long before JT came on and completely ripped apart Raider fans for their nonsupport.
Yeah, in ‘02, towards the end of the season, in a game the Raiders needed to make sure they were in playoffs, with home field ramifications, the Raiders STILL DIDN’T SELL OUT. JT was going ballistic regarding how the Niner Empire was STILL SELLING OUT all of their home games, and here the Raiders still couldn’t sell out, in a huge game.

By the way..the Niners have not had a home game blacked out since 1980…that’s TWENTY SEVEN STRAIGHT YEARS of continued support and sell outs. Niners haven’t been to the SB in over a decade, yet we STILL SUPPORT OUR TEAM.
That, ladies, is true fan support..that’s loyalty, that’s showing up, win or lose.
Raider fans are front runners, and it’s been proven.
Niners lost..had the worst team in the NFL couple years ago..still sold out.
Raiders last after ‘02, and fans left in droves…hence you being the poster child for “Worst Fans in the NFL”

Now, get back to whimpering..because you and I both know you’ll have squat to say about the Niners, or the Raiders.

    Mike49er,

Misrepresenting facts only continues to prove your lack of worth in any discussion.

    1. Kiff did not say that we overspent! Instead he stated that the players performance would be the deciding factor in that discussion. Maybe you should read the transcript vefore your try and claim something as fact.

    2. True, Al did pursue Lofton, but Lane was fully involved in the interview process and the decision process, and if you had read the transcript of the interview you would know this.

    3. What link are you talking about? I posted no such link in this conversation, so again, get your facts straight. It was Rob that posted the link smart guy, and its a very good story that obviously hits home concidering the offensive that you, a 49er fan, have launched in an attempt to refute it. Funny how that works!

    4. You may support your team in the hard times, but where do you get the idea that we don’t? Again, you are obviously feeling inferior in the west bay!

    5. About Tix sales, read my last comment and you will realize that the corner has been turned as the Raiders have taken over. Also, the economics of the East Bay are far different than the West Bay. Many blue collar Raider fans simply cant afford the same luxuries that 49er fans can. There is a huge difference between the blue collar Raider fan struggling to make ends meet, and the white collar 49er fan that can always afford their tix. So if you want to talk, learn a little about the economic disparity between the two regions, cause otherwise you just sound like another rich prick from the West Bay.

    6. The Raiders are Front Runner? Band Wagon Fans? Thats why, again, we lead the league in merchandise sales, and why even after the last five seasons, you are blogging on the #1 Fan sight in all of MVN. Bandwagon? AHA! Thats the most hilarious thing I have ever heard. Its the opposite buddy. Most of us Raider fans have blind loyalty regardless. Again, get your facts straight.

Yet again I have successfully refuted you comments, and shown you to be the desperate attention getter, that spews nothing but venom and rhetoric while feeling insignificant in the West Bay! You certainly don’t use facts, at least not accurately!!

    April 6th, 2008 at 7:23 pm

I’ll state it again, you’re a lost, confused child, aren’t you, OakFo??
YOU babble Kiff didn’t say you overspent, that you have to wait and see?? lol..geez…you honestly need this explained? Are you seriously this slow?? You paid a WR who’s had numerous knee surgeries, and was out most of last year MONEY THAT MOSS AND T.O. GET. Now, can YOU figure out on your own if that was foolhardy money?? Let’s forget the fact he’s a walking bandaid, I’m talking everyone on the planet knows two things..Al massively overpaid..and there’s no way you would have gotten these players without overpaying. You’re the Raiders. The sinking ship.
Now, because I know you’ll gloss over it..here’s much of the exchange.

Q: How concerned were you committing that much guaranteed money to a player who is coming off an ACL injury?
Kiffin: Yeah, it’s a major concern. But in the end, Al decided to pay him that and we’re happy that he’s there.”

Now, what can YOU deduce from this, OakFo?? See, it should be a major concern just picking him up. Paying him HUGE BUCKS is stupid, anyway you look at it. Considering what he’s guaranteed? and an ACL?? Yeah, like it or not, AL’S LOST IT.

Here’s some more exchange that you seem to want to assume meant something else:
Q: When you looked at your team after the season, did you envision rebuilding through free agency or would you have preferred to rebuild through the draft? Did you anticipate it going this way?
Kiffin: A: “I don’t think anybody did, as far as the amount of money spent, We give our opinion of the evaluation of the players.
Q: You mean the coaches? A: “Yes. And where their potential is and maybe if they change into our scheme as opposed to the scheme they were in, like Kwame Harris, maybe they’ll be better than they were there.”And then he decides how much to pay them.”

Now, again, because I now know you’re confused beyond belief, the “AND THEN HE DECIDES HOW MUCH TO PAY” is what everyone is laughing at.
Here’s a reality check for you. Because of Walkers ACL, no team, anywhere, would have offered him anything more than a year, much less a big bonus, just to see if he’s going to be out again, yet Al not only offered him a lengthy contract, but stupidly gave away of ton of money that wasn’t necessary.
Same thing with Kwame. After a solid week, not one team even gave Harris a sniff..then Al offers him a 14 mil contract? Both Walker and Harris are laughing..all the way to the bank, knowing they had a snowball’s chance in hell of getting any team to pay that. Here’s just one of many articles on why NFL fans laugh at the Raiders, and Al. http://www.profootballtalk.com.....on-walker/

    2. RE: Lofton. Geez dude. How long have you been following the game? Do you not know generic responses by now? What coaches say? The automatic reply?
HERE is the comment: Q: Was he someone you personally wanted to bring in or was that Mr. Davis?

    A: “That’s was Al’s initial thought.

What does that tell you? Is this Kiffin’s guy, or Al’s?
Al wanted Lofton, Al interviewed Lofton. Al made Lofton an offer. Kiffin had NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY OF THE ABOVE. Yeah, he had his courtesy “chat” with Lofton. Are you telling me that had Kiffin had an issue with Lofton, Al would not have hired him? Again, it appears you haven’t followed football, and especially Al very long.

    3. what link am I talking about? The one YOU posted above. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/…..1005KG.DTL
Probably be best you save the insults until it’s all said and done. So far you aren’t doing to well here, OakFo.
Hey?? I’m just trying to help :)

    4. Geez..like I’m talking to a kid. YOU STATE: You may support your team in the hard times, but where do you get the idea that we don’t? Again, you are obviously feeling inferior in the west bay!
The fact you have the most blackouts IN THE NFL might be one of the reasons. Already stated that.
BTW..do you not realize how weak that “you’re feeling inferior in the west bay” sounds?? I’m smacking on the lowly Raiders, and you think it’s because me, or any Niner fan feels “inferior”?? lol…TO WHAT?? Seriously, you keep running that same silly whine. WHAT EXACTLY would anyone feel inferior about? Team’s history? lol..uh…no. We torch you. Fan base? Again, leave you in the dust..no comparison. Cities? again, LMAO..please, don’t even go there.

    5. Wrong again. Corner has been turned? Raiders have taken over? Taken over WHAT?? Again, you lead the league in blackouts. What part of that confuses you?
And it’s YOU that needs to learn before you open your trap, and get schooled yet AGAIN. ..see, nitwit, before Geriatric Al decided to screw all of you fans over, the Raiders sold out each and EVERY game. It was after the Raiders came back, where Al completely screwed over fans in too many ways to list here that fans started dropping like flys.
You know very very little about you team, don’t you? Do you have any idea that most season ticket holders for both the Niners and the Raiders live outside their respective cities? If you had, you wouldn’t run that silly “raider fans can’t afford it”. Yeah, they can, they just choose NOT TO SUPPORT the team as long as that dinosaur is running things. again, YOU need to read up more about what’s going on. You’re a headline reader. You jump on some web site that lists all of Al’s accolades from decades ago, and you buy into it, not aware that he, and he alone is why the team is in shambles, and why the fans are staying away in droves.
Most Raider fans know this. Those few “image” fans, which you appear to be one, refuse to accept it.
And I live in the East Bay, fool.
BTW..wasn’t it YOU that replied to Ryan: “You have reached a new low, and have set a far worse example for middle America than any Raiders fan ever will ever for Oakland.
“The combined stench of food stamps, failed GED’s and urine would probably be too much to bear.”
ts comments like this that make me realize how uneducated and unscrupulous you really are. Shame on you for dragging the economics of Oakland, and the terrible hardships many in this city go through, into a simple discussion of football.

And now YOU’RE casting those same aspersions on the city, and it’s people?? Way to waffle there, hypocrite.

    6. Yeah, FRONTRUNNERS. Right after the SB, fans who had just bought those new t shirts promptly dumped them. That’s what frontrunning means. Support them when they’re on top, disappear when the team sucks.
Whether it’s because fans are sick of Al, or don’t want to pay, regardless you are the owners of the least supportive team in the NFL.

Now, just for fun, try that “successfully refuted your comments” again, and this time, again, for fun, state where you think you made sense.
Re: #1? Torched you on your silly Kiffin take.
#2 Still laughing at you believing Kiffin had a say in Lofton..oh hell, everyone’s laughing at you.
#3 Link? posted it for you..again, you came up short
#4, 5, and 6, you just got schooled.

So far you seem to be reduced to those grade school juvenile “you’re jealous” takes,

Raider fans, IMO, are two seperate entities. There are the diehard fans, that have been through the thick and thin, who call thinks like they see them, and don’t accept things “just because”..then there are the “image” fans..those who buy the shirts because they’re “cool”. Who think being a Raider fan makes them a badass. Who run the “we’re da Raiders..you’re just jealous”, all the while never challenging anything the team does, or the owner. They justify everything because once upon a time the team was good. Anyone, INCLUDING FELLOW RAIDER FANS are called out who dare to demand better.
Obviously you’re in that second group. Was it the pirate thing that did it for ya?

  40. Rob Calonge says:

    Mike here proves the point.
“See…when I want sushi? I go to a sushi bar. When I want to smack on Ram fans?? YEP, Ram board. Humbling Raider fans??”

Pathetic Mike. Pathetic. Did it make you feel better to come in here and run your smack? Sorry I, and most of the Nation wouldn’t return the favor, it’s called having a life. BTW - You lost me at:
“RobColonge: “When we were winning”?? Uh, Rob? Last I checked that was in 1984″

Mike, you might want to check again. The last I checked, even teams that lose in the Super Bowl are still considered winning teams.

Lastly, and I love this one:
“By the way..the Niners have not had a home game blacked out since 1980…that’s TWENTY SEVEN STRAIGHT YEARS of continued support and sell outs.”

Who’s the front runner? The Raiders sold out all but one game, in which it was reported that Davis held back enough tickets to ensure the networks would show the Colts and Patriots game. The most blackouts over the past 10 years are the Cardinals. The 49ers need only sell 50,000 tickets for the game to be considered a sellout, the Raiders need to sell 60,000.

Details, I know. Mike, you couldn’t even talk objectively about your own team, there’s no reason to even justify your rant…but because we feel strongly, we do. You’re a fraud, a very little man, and a sad excuse for a football fan. Being a fan does not mean you attempt to disrupt others without your allegience. You’re akin to a terrorist, trolling other teams’ boards looking to set off your bomb of words and spew your hate.

Thank you Mike for doing nothing other than prove my point.

    Raider Nation,

Mike49er is the perfect example of a Troll that is out of control and has no life. You can tell by the lack of any real information in his posts. On the other hand, what little information is presented, is skewed and misrepresented in rediculous fashion.

He will undoubtedly come back again and again, and respond to anything you say with more hatred and rhetoric written out in lengthy novellas in an attempt to get you to respond. This is his the cause of a 49er troll with a worthless owner and franchise that has nothing better to do with his time.

I have proven every point of his to be incorrect and insignificant, yet he choses to come back and respond with the same hatred and venom because he feels tiny and insignificant in the West Bay. He also choses to reuse the same lines that you have used to prove him wrong, and this lack of inventiveness and creativity only further shows his lack of abilities and intelligence.

No matter what is said he will continue to troll because our responses makes his meaningless existence somehow worthwhile. He will never accept the fact that he has been proven incorrect, as children never do, and because to do so would kill him!

Well, I will no longer justify his existence. and as a result, I will no longer respond, and I encourage you all to just leave it alone as well, as his only goal is to lead the conversation astray and misconstrue the facts, over and over again. I also encourage you to just skip over his comments, as I have his latest responses.

The reasoning is simple. When a tree falls in the forest, does it make a sound? When a post is written, but no one reads, is it really there? It may as well not be, and thus it is just a waste of his time, not that his time is at all valuable, and his existence will again be meaningless.

This is the worst fate for any troll! To know and understand that anything he writes means absolutely nothing and carries no value whatsoever. It is at this point that he will reflect upon what a worthless individual he is, and then maybe, just maybe, he will elevate himself out of the hole he is living, and actually do something with his life.

Don’t respond to the Troll and he will creep back to the hole from whence he came!

    Al’s Mandate is McFadden!!

And Rob makes it clear that he, too, is of the thin skin, easily rattled, can’t take criticism, ‘wahhh..leave me alone” type of poster that is appalled when confronted.

good for both of you. As I stated, I post on numerous Raider boards, and quickly I find out who can hold their own, and who’s a whining little tool who’s quick to retreat. Thanks for making it clear where you two mice stand.
however, lol..for fun, I’ll still smack your silly take, Bobbo.
1.Last you looked, teams in the SB are still considered winning teams?? uh….WHAT??? Oh, I get it..well, hell, Rob, what you’re saying is BOTH OF OUR TEAMS WERE WINNING TEAMS in ‘02?? Ah…got it. Yeah, we were in the playoffs, winning record. Raiders also had a winning record. Neither won the SB.
See how weak and stupid that sounds?? Wrong, Rob. Super Bowl is the goal. Don’t even run that garbage. Hell, look at many’s retorts to other fans from other teams “How many SB’s do you have” NO ONE brings up how many winning seasons, it’s SB’s.
That was weak, Rob..sad, and weak.

    2. Sellouts. I mention we’ve sold out for 27 straight years and you reply ‘Who’s the frontrunner”??? Huh?? Makes no sense.
And I see I comment in the last 5 years the Raiders are the worst team as far as fan support, and you reply “Oh, but, in the last 10 years it was the Cards”?? lmao..geez. Stay on track here, Rob.
Considering the Cards used to play at a college stadium, with metal bleacher seats, in 115 degree temp, and fielded a horrible, never winning team, yeah, those fans stayed away..what’s Raider fans excuse? Perfect weather. Easy access. No bleacher seats.
Like it or not, last 5 years, as fans, Raiders are the worst. Simple fact Rob. Deal with it.

And the biggest laugh of the day??
Rob: “sniff….you’re like a terrorist..coming over here and hurting my widdle feelings…sniff…you big meany you…” LMAO…that’s some funny stuff..weak, sad, and pathetic…but funny.

Now, take my advice. You two accept this isn’t your cup of tea. Exchanging comments about teams is just football, yet you two seem to take it personally. (yeah, THAT also makes you sad)
Just football, guys, not real life. Don’t live vicariously through the team..they really aren’t what defines you.

For your sake, I hope not :)
    You may go now.

As I sit here and read all these back and forth pathetic arguments between Mike and “real” fans I can’t help but bust up laughing. Why you ask? Because as I read them I can’t help but picture Mike writing them in his mother’s basement in his boxers and stained, smelly t-shirt. I am no even going to comment on any of his posts because quite frankly I have a life and its not worth getting into it with a five year old. That’s like arguing with my nephew when he was a child that French Fries come from Potatoes or Ketchup comes form tomatoes, do you really get satisfaction from arguing with him? If you do then you have issues do deal with honestly.

I will say this though about how Mike is so proud of his 49ers always selling out and being on TV. Well if you watch the games and hear from 49er fans that go to the game then you would know that even though the games are sold out there are BARELY HALF of those people that actually go to the game! I laugh when they show camera shots of the stadium during the game and half of the stadium is empty because all the season ticket holders who bought the tickets to ensure a sellout are out golfing or doing whatever it is 49er fans do to not have to think about how far their beloved 49er’s have fallen and feel it isn’t even worth the money they spent to go to the games:( lol Meanwhile when the Raiders sellout, which is and will be the common these days, there is not an empty seat in the stadium no matter what the record is even though the average Raider fan’s income is substantially lower than 49er fans they find a way to make it to the games every sunday! So you cannot really compare the two fan bases because they are completely different. A perfect comparison in basketball is the Raider fans are like Warrior fans who have been there even when they haven’t been good and have provided one of the best atmospheres in the league while 49er fans are like Utah fans who can’t even get out of their seats to cheer for their team and simply rely on indoor claps to “cheer” their team on.

I think I’ve made my point.
    Peace out

Well Raider Nation I have only one question for mike49er. If you hate the OAKLAND RAIDERS and THE RAIDER NATION so much why do you post here? No matter what you say we are not going to change how we feel about our team. Let me make it perfectly clear, “WE DON’T CARE WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT US OR OUR TEAM”. If you hate us and the team that much then go away. No one asked you to post here. The way I see it the 49ers are not winning either so you have no room to talk. Why don’t you go to the 49er web site and post there and quit wasting our time.

The haters sure do spend alot of time and effort on the supposedly insignificant Raiders. Funny how the Raiders rent free space inside the heads of these bottom feeders. Its kinda sad. What Raider fan would ever waste that kind of time and energy on another teams Blog??? Get a life losers. We don’t care what you think or what you say. Go whine and cry to your fellow chef or whiner or donkey fans. Go Raiders!!!!!!!

You guys should really chill out! Let the haters blabber all they want. We have more than proven our point on how they hate the Raiders more than love their own team. I mean look at all those blogs! I dont see that many blogs on a 49er, Chief, Chargers or Broncos site. Let them talk all they want. We will see next season….

Wow Bill..I’m glad you made it clear you weren’t going to say anything. Hate to think what would have happened had you decided to borrow someone’s huevos.

Here’s a little reality check regarding your NON REPLY, Billy..save the weak “In the FUTURE the Raiders are going to sell out” crappola. History says you won’t. The good news is the Raiders dropped their prices to bargain basement level on a lot of seats, which should help, but even still, no guarantee those fairweather Raider fans will show.

Want to see a few little stats that show Raider fans are ANYTHING BUT supportive, much less “loyal”?

Some run the “well, we have more seats, so it’s harder to sell out” reply, still wanting, somehow, to believe Raider fans are, in deed, the “best fans in football”.

Between ‘07 and 2000 the Raiders had 24 STRAIGHT NON SELLOUT HOME GAMES AT THE COLISEUM. 24 straight…geez..lol..I mean, not ONE sellout in that stretch..and you all DARE TO CALL YOURSELF THE BEST FANS IN FOOTBALL??
You’re honestly one of the worst group of fans, like it or not. I know, I know, it bursts that little bubble that makes you want to believe that you’re “special”, but you’re not.

And no, it doesn’t end there, Raider fans.

Let’s just look at numbers, for those of you who state “We seat more”
99′ you were 29th in NFL attendance with 49 thou.
2000 you were 26th in the league..and even after your SB appearance, fan support sucked..in ‘03 you were 30th…THIRTIETH IN THE YEAR FOLLOWING BEING IN THE SUPER BOWL…how in the hell can anyone state you’re even adequate as fans when you bail immediately after a SB loss??
    In ‘04?? You were 31st.
‘05?? 30th….and yes..you dropped back down to 31st the following year.

In all of those year? Even while the Niners were 2-14, starting over, WE STILL SOLD OUT EACH AND EVERY GAME.

Don’t ever compare fan bases or which teams fans are loyal. Loyalty and supportive means you back them even when you lose…Raider fans can’t even support the team when they win.

You Raider fans, are the worst of the worst, and the numbers above prove it beyond anything you try and spin.

Just thought you would like to know. :)

    …not “between ‘07 and 2000″

didn’t want to perplex any of you ponderers.
