Chris Carr: Leave well enough alone

Has Chris Carr earned the right to call the Raiders losers?
Today, while perusing one of my favorite writers’ blog, Jason Jones of the Sac Bee, I picked up this quote from Chris Carr:
“I was so happy to get out of Oakland and I am hungry to win after all those losing years out there. I want to be on a winning team in Tennessee and I want to do whatever I can to help this team win.”
Who can blame the guy for wanting to win, but let’s look at the whole picture Chris. I have a few questions:
- Have you forgotten that nobody drafted you out of college? Raider Nation hasn’t, and neither has Al.
- How many teams wanted to sign you out of college? Where would you be without that?
- Out of the teams that wanted to sign you, do you really think you would’ve had a better shot at making the roster with another team? The Raiders are only 19-61 over the past five years, but thanks to that, they had nobody better than you already.
- Do you think you would’ve become a better player without the coaching of Willie Brown? While the Raiders continue to change defensive backs, the one thing remains true: DB’s the Raiders bring in become better for working with Brown.
- How much better do you think you became by practicing against Randy Moss, Jerry Porter, Ronald Curry, Doug Gabriel, etc…? I suppose practicing opposite Drew Bennett or Justin McCareins would’ve made you better?
I liked Chris Carr as a Raider and thought he played well when called upon, not great, but good. I also wish him the best of luck in the future, though I know that he’ll be just fine. The only suggestion that I have for him is that he not start burning Silver and Black bridges when there is really no need to. He was the 5th string cornerback on a losing team…5th string!
With his credentials, he hasn’t earned the right to make those types of statements. When he scores a touchdown on a return or makes the Pro Bowl as a corner, then I’ll bite my tongue/fingers and not say/type anything when he decides to make a comment like that. He better just hope that everything works out in Tennessee and he doesn’t ever need to ask for a job from Lane Kiffin or Al Davis. I don’t think either of them will like being called losers.
You can bet that if we know of the quote, Al and Lane will know of it as well. You can also bet that Jarrod Cooper and the rest of the special teams guys will know too. It will be interesting if he’s returning punts the day the Raiders face Tennessee, so he can be welcomed back the right way by Cooper and Company…a bone crushing, teeth grinding, earth shattering crash.
No hard feelings though. Right Chris?

Rob,
Finally someone else comes out and says it. I wrote about Chris’ comments when he was trying out around the league for the Bills and the Titans, but know one seemed to listen. He has been dragging his teammates and the organization through the mud for a month or two.
On good INT TD is all the guy has ever done. It would have been nice to keep him on the cheap, but after these comments and others he has recently made, to hell with him. No hard feelings? PFFFT!! Chris Carr is cashing checks that his mouth and his body may not be able to afford.
Circle the Titans on your schedule boys……..
Reporter: Mr. T what’s your prediction for the fight?
Mr T: PAIN!!!
Al’s Mandate is McFadden!!

This just confirms my thoughts about what a loser Carr is. To this I say:
I think we can all say with absolute certainty that we are all sick of the losing Chris. Just keep in mind that your lack of talent helped contribute to those years of losing. Now shut your mouth and expect to get smashed when we see you next. Oh BTW, you just went from a team on the rise to one that’s going back downhill. Especially when VJ is exposed for the fraud he really is.

I had no issues with his comments about wanting to in somewhere and start, but this latest comment changes the game. He wants to run his mouth about losing when he can’t even who a starting job. I’m with you Rob I hope Mr. Cooper, and I don’t mean Mark Curry, has something to say about it on the field.

He just screw up with his comment. Now were definately going to circle that game against Tennessee (even though it is a preseason game) hoping he gets a good ass kicking. Just like #18 who I will not name, I could Morrison crushing his boneswhen he tries to make a catch. #18 will probably wont play when we face New England.
Al’s mandate is Gholston.

Wow I always thought Chris Carr was a good team guy and a model citizen. Now his true colors come out. What a fool. Does he not realize that the Raiders spent his entire career here trying to replace his ass? I have never seen such disdain for a team that pulled a guy off of the scrap heap and gave him a roster spot (not to mention millions of dollars) for many years. And if he would have been a great find that would be one thing but he has just been a so-so return man and his corner skills are hardly worth mentioning. What a douchebag. Al Davis is the most devoted owner to his former players and Chris Carr may find that the grass is not so green on the building disaster of a team in Tennessee and want to come back. There is no chance of that now. He compains about losing? Well the Tightens haven’t exactly been tearing it up lately either. Having a decent record doesn’t matter if you don’t make it in the playoffs does it? We know DeAngelo Hall will be better and hopefully Higgins can step up and hold it down as well.
I also have a question for Chris Carr: Do you think your current team respects your comments? Or perhaps they are thinking “If he would do that to the team that plucked him from obscurity then he would sure as hell turn right around and talk the same trash about us”.

Rob Alonge, for your information Chris did have other options when he went undrafted but he chose Oakland to be close to his family who live in Reno. The Raiders didn’t make Chris Carr who he is. He would’ve been good no matter where he went because he’s a good ball player. Props to the dude for being honest and if yall don’t like it, too bad.
Al decided who starts and not Ryan and Chris wasn’t a Al guy. At least now he’ll get a fair chance to play with a sane and functional ownership/management. No wonder Namdi wants out too. Yup I said it, Namdi feels the same way as Chris, that’s why they had to franchise him and why they also got Hall.
And no Cooper is not going to head hunt Chris they are very good friends, along with Namdi, Stu, and Fabian. Nobody truly wants to be on the Raiders at least not as long as Al Davis is still running the team into the ground.

What don’t you understand about being undrafted? Al gave him a chance and now he has a new deal w/ a new team and your gonna bash the team that gave you your first opportunity? I am excited to be w/ the Titans is good, but don’t bite the hand that fed you
April 14th, 2008 at 4:51 pm
Oh man!! I can’t wait until he gets back to the team that gave him a chance to play in the NFL and he gets knocked out by his former team mates. Well good riddance to you Carr! Don’t expect much more (if not less) out of Tennesse!

He’s gonna get a good taste of what that outfield dirt tastes like!!

Clash,
It seems to me that you have inside information that nobody else has. Are you a player? If so, email me and let me get an off the record interview…I’ll call you an inside source. It also sounds like you know Nnamdi, Stu, and Fabian personally…can you get me an interview with them too? (I kid…I kid…unless it’s true of course)
Another thing, I would never think that any of the current Raiders would head-hunt him, but I don’t think they’ll let up either. He’s not important enough to head-hunt. Raider Nation would like them to after these comments, but I’m sure that the players would rather just make sure that they do their jobs.
Thanks for reading and posting Clash. Now about that interview…

Clash??? Carr a good player? Maybe for Boise St. but at the NFL level he’s been average at best. What other teams wanted him? Nnambi has said he likes being a Raider but wants a long-term contract (understandable) and the Raiders did what was best for their business. Tennessee is not a better team than Oakland - Make the playoffs or don’t and when you don’t be the worst so you get the best pick. Make the playoffs and you have a chance to win it all! - don’t and you’re begging for C.Long to drop to you. Oh and Raider Nation - .500 may be an improvement for us but it’s no way to be!!! We belong on top and Al/Kif will take us there.
Just Win Baby!

Memo to Carr: If you hate losing so much, try guarding Berrian at the end of games.
April 15th, 2008 at 6:45 am
Carr always layed his guts on the line, I have no problem with his desire for winning. I’d have a bigger problem with any player on this team that didn’t take issue with all the losing. It was only his competitiveness and desire on display in his comments. When he was here, he did nothing but let his effort on the field show his competitiveness, not his mouth like other guys.

I sat near the same section as his cousin last year at the game. That bitch was annoying. She would cheer everytime this loser would return a ball more than his usual 5-10 yards. She sure was quiet when he was getting burnt for touchdowns! Glad he’s gone along with her.
April 15th, 2008 at 11:36 am
That “Mandate” thing sounds way to silly.
April 15th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
Yeah, yeah, Carr is on another team now, he’s now an enemy of the state or rather the nation. He must be smashed one way or another. I could care less about what he said. WESTSIDE!!! as Tupac Shakur would say.
The Nation has spoken!

I hope Cooper and Company crush this punk. Raiders all day, Lets Get it!!!
Im sure he want to a team that beat the raiders 14-9, while the Raiders had a weak offense. Maybe he is mad the Raiders didnt bother to resign him. Carr seems bitter
