Thoughts from the Dark Side

Former Raiders can’t seem to contain their enthusiasm

“The first difference is that they practice a lot faster here – and not just the players, but the coaches. The players expect it, and that’s something you learn right off the bat. They don’t settle for less here.” - Fabian Washington Baltimore Ravens Website

“The year out in Oakland was a tough one for me, man, especially coming from the Colts which is a great organization.” - Dominic Rhodes as reported by Jerry McDonald

“I was so happy to get out of Oakland and I am hungry to win after all those losing years out there.” - Chris Carr as reported by Tennessean.com

There are plenty of former Raiders with much to say since leaving this offseason, and each has taken their opportunity to knock the team in some form or another.

Fabian Washington has a new lease on life with the Ravens, but instead of focusing on his task ahead, he thought that it was important to compare and contrast the new with the old employer.  This classless representation of the Raiders can’t sit well with the ‘friends’ that he left behind.  Does he even realize that he basically called his former teammates, coaches, and organization a bunch of losers?

Three years, 123 tackles, 24 passes defensed, and 5 picks aren’t bad numbers for a backup or nickleback, but in no way are they comparable to the greats that have manned the position in silver and black before him.  Willie Brown, Lester Hayes, Mike Haynes, Terry McDaniel, and Eric Allen.  Tory James and Charles Woodson were both better than Washington while he was a Raider, and those guys can’t even be considered great.

“They brought me here to compete at the cornerback position, whatever that may be. If they play me at nickel, I’ll be happy with that. If I end up becoming the starter, I’ll be happy with that. I’m just here to help the team win ballgames.”  Maybe if this was Washington’s focus with the Raiders, they would’ve won more games last year.

The most telling quote from Washington is this one: “They said it was my tackling. That Denver Broncos game, which was the second game of the season, I stunk it up big-time in tackles. If that was their reason for benching me, then so be it. I also know that I definitely wasn’t playing my best ball at the time. I was worried about different stuff other than football. Now, I’m so focused on football that I have something to prove.”  Prove what?  Prove that you can stop hitting your girlfriend and concentrate on football during the season?

After Chris Carr made the quote above, I wrote an article telling the guy to move on and stop making negative comments about his former team.  Some of the posters blasted me saying that his former teammates wouldn’t be putting a target on him during a game.  At the time, I conceded that I wouldn’t think that they would.  While talking with Jarrod Cooper at Ricky’s draft party, my partner Patrick Patterson asked Cooper what he thought about some of Carr’s comments.  “Chris Carr is gonna’ get JACKED UP,” is what Cooper had to say.

Don’t fool yourself in thinking that Al Davis hasn’t signed players that didn’t WANT to be Raiders.  He’s done a pretty good job of putting players in the locker room that were fans of the silver and black prior to coming here.  Cooper, Kirk Morrison, and Justin Fargas are only a few of the players in that locker room that bleed silver and black just like the costume covered, raucous, and passionate Raider Nation.

We tend to think that these guys are so busy that they don’t keep up with the nonsense in the media or the comments of others in the news, but they do.  Whether it’s them reading it themselves or a friend, family member, or fan telling them about it, they find these things out.

Think about it for a moment.  A friend of yours from work moves on to another job, and at that job he’s telling people that he’s glad he left your place of employment because there were a bunch of losers working there.  You’re not going to get a little angry?  Fortunately for football players, they’ll get to face these former co-workers on a field of contact.  Just another reason to wish you were a football player, right?

While Washington may have to suffer contact from one of the offensive players who are not known for laying big hits like Cooper is, Dominic Rhodes will definitely be facing the defense if the Colts play the Raiders next season.  Both teams will need to make the playoffs for that to happen, but there is always the following season too.

The fact is, what did any of these players do to make the Raiders better?  Rhodes was suspended for the first four games, and he wasn’t impressive when he did play.  Washington, couldn’t cover my 80 year old grandmother last season, let alone tackle her (without her walker), and Carr couldn’t get on the field.

Many in Raider Nation had respect for those guys, but I expect that was until they went and opened their mouths.  Good riddance and don’t expect any well wishes.  It’s unfortunate that it was necessary to them to air their grievances with the Raiders organization.  My mother used to tell me that when someone is putting you down, it’s only to make themselves feel better.  So true Mom…so true.  All three of these guys probably need some confidence after how they performed for the Raiders.

Interesting to note that a player I expected to run his mouth negatively about the Raiders hasn’t.  Warren Sapp has made comments and quotes that would intimate that he is still a Raider.  Comments like, “our offense is made for downhill guys,” would give you the feeling that he wasn’t just a mercenary in the silver and black.

The one negative thing he had to say was similar to what many in Raider Nation have said.  “LaMont is like the worst offseason running back I’ve ever been around; he was out of shape and couldn’t keep it going.”

Sapp also has said this about Kiffin and the Raiders to make you believe that he still has some investment in the team, “There is nothing wrong with Lane Kiffin as a head coach, and now he has another stud who can help him succeed. I guess Al’s going for his last hurrah.”

Hopefully, this season Al, the Raiders, and Raider Nation get the last laugh.

I think the least of these three disgruntled ex-players would be Rhodes. Even though he was suspended the first four games, he did get a bit screwed over. That four games might as well have been 10 games because he usually didn’t play or played sparingly until Fargas went down at which point he put up a couple of nice games. Then he restructured his contract only to be cut. I am happy for him that he is back in Indy where he thrived. I would be a bit pissed too actually.

The other guys need to watch what they say and “play the role” when someone is recording what they say. Chris Carr especially. But what Fabs said only makes himself look bad. It is like he is saying “I come from a dysfunctional familiy of morons and losers”. Well Fabs you were part of that family so what does that say about you? You don’t think guys in Oakland did everything they could to win? I suppose you can only speak for yourself can’t ya? And now you are on a team with a rookie QB and a defense that just renewed their subscription to AARP magazine. Good luck with that.

The thing is that this team is losing and at these times there is little room for loyalty to those who contribute to losing ways. When we are winning again there will be loyalty paid to those who help bring this team to greatness. Al Davis is known for that. Teams like the Patriots have NO loyalty to those players (Matt Walsh for Pats MVP) and you don’t hear players talking crap about them.

who even cares what they have to say… esp chris carr haha the guy may have some decent numbers as a kick returner…but i think that new CB/S/KR we got in the 5th round could be just as good if not better than carr… as for rhodes, the man needs to stop smokin the whacky tabbacy.. then he can make comments. same thing with washington, he needs to stop hitting his gf’s first like you said rob, then he can pass judgement on the raiders.

If one or two players that left the Raiders said bad things about the team then you can say “bad them”. However after years of seeing Al Davis making the decisions he has and the vast number of players almost all saying the team is a mess you have to look at the one thing that is constant.

    Washington is different than Rhodes
    Moss is different from Cooper…

The one thing that is always there is Davis… I use to watch the Raiders in LA back in the day so I still have a little soft spot for them but until the ownership and management changes drastically I think the problems will also be a constant.

I guess if you keep making fun of the disgruntled players leaving Oakland that will take your mind off of the fact that there are… so many disgruntled players leaving Oakland.

I’m not sure how bashing any of these guys, justified or otherwise, is going to fix the deeply dysfunctional owner-coach relationship you’ve got going on, but since I’m not a Raiders fan, more power too you.

When Randy Moss got to the Raiders he was teary-eyed when talking about how good the Raiders organization treated him, buying each of his kids and his wife age/gender appropriate gifts. Randy said he was never treated like that with the Vikings. We gave him a huge contract when nobody wanted him. We even made him captain. Then our oline stunk and we couldn’t get the ball to him or any receiver for that matter, our team kept losing and he wanted out. Then he went to a contender and all of a sudden he is actually playing hard every down. Randy can’t say anything negative about an organization that took him when nobody wanted him, paid him big money, and let him go as soon as he wanted out. Same w/ Dominic Rhodes. This game is a business and Fargas proved to be the better option gaining over 1000 yards. Dominic lost his job fair and square as any back in any team (Shaun Alexander) can lose his job. Then Raider management gave their word to Dominic that if we draft Mcfadden, which we did, we would release him so he could pick the team with the best offer for him as opposed to being traded, which we did. The Raiders care about it’s players. We treat them like gold as long as they are putting forth the effort.

You’ll always have players leaving clubs, after a number of seasons. Carr, I had a feeling, was on the downside. But look at some of our other kickoffs, like Teyo Johnson….I don’t think he’s even in the league.
Philip Buccannon, he’s with the Bucs, but nothing like when he was with us.
About the only one that still has some value, would be Charles Woodson, but his value is based off how his team does. Team’s winning, he’s doing well. His team goes down, his play dives.
I think Washington’s only major asset, is he’s going to be playing a lot….the Ravens are a team in transition, and stability is not a trademark for that club.

    Wow! Where to start……

Sapp is the man, a true Raider, and I would not be surprised if he returned for one last hurrah with Al. Of Course it would have to be in a reprized backup, 3rd down role, and at much less money. He is a great leader, and I would love to have him back even if he does not play much.

Way back, when Carr was visiting with the Bills and the Titans, I mentioned his comments, and no one in Raider Nation seemed to care very much. Well except Rob, who would go on to write his piece on the matter. It is nice to hear Coop tell it like it is, and it appears as though the rest of the team paid close attention from the start. I can’t wait untill the Raider play the Titans next! Its a great little side story, and a game within a game. I’ll call it the “whose gonna hit Carr next” game. Good times!

Truth is I expected this out of Washington. He is a CB, and other than some WRs, are often the most outspoken and selfish players in the game when they feel slighted. The Truth is, Fabian can be a weak #1 (in injury situations), and a solid #2 for many NFL teams, just not in Oakland. As I have said before, the CB position in Oakland is unlike any other in the league. It is the definition of an island, the CBs own little world where he must dominate or be dominated. Its man up, or get out. There is minimal (I’d say 5%) zone coverage to help hide your weaknesses and give over the top protection. Fabian needs a split, or variable system, cause he cannot hack it in the Raiders Man D scheme.

Rhodes was bound to be released or traded from the start. he never got off to a good start in Oakland due to the suspension, and fell behind as a result. He did show his abilities with two 100+ yard games, but the Raiders already have other backs that can do the same in this system. n the other hand, Run DMC gives the Raiders the big play threat they have lacked for the longest time. Its a understandable trade off, and one that was inevitable. My only question is, when is Jordan gone, or does he restructure to remain a Raider? (doubt it!)

Rob?? You should change your name to Eggo..you waffle like noone else.

First off those players that left insulted the ORGANIZATION. I don’t see any of them, anywhere, stating “Guys I played with were a bunch of losers”, do you?
Saying it’s a losing organization is a fact.
    Well..isn’t it?
Considering the Raiders have lost more than any other team in the last half decade, what they stated was true.
Saying it’s dysfunctional at the top is true, is it not?
You don’t think players know that the HC’s hands are tied? That he’s constantly overruled by the old man?
What organization, besides the Raiders, would EVER allow a player to dog it, blatantly, excessively, like Moss did, who ADMITTED IT to reporters, while the team did nothing about it? Coach couldn’t do SQUAT..because Moss was Al’s guy.
And yes, Moss couldn’t wait to leave either.
He took a PAY CUT to leave, that’s how bad it is in Oakland.
Oh..and lastly..pretty sad to say “Well, all of those guys stating our organization sucks doesn’t count, because there were other players prior to them..some DECADES AGO, who were better, so they should shut up.”

    think about it Robby.

Tell you what..you send me over your threads prior to posting them, and I’ll help you out so you won’t make so many mistakes.

Well, well, well! Its mike49er again.

The man who fails to realize HIS OWN team’s miseries (or should I say, stupidity, incompetence and overall mayhem to be short) and so comes rattling here to pick on us.
I hope you read the comment I left you on “Optimism in short supply in raider Nation” ON OUR WEBSITE and if not, I think you should. I would apprecitae a reply regarding it.
And yes, the Players did infer that the team is a bunch of losers when they insulted the ORGANIZATION When you say ORGANIZATION, you mean the team, adminstration and the fanbase as well.
Here is what Washington said in case you couldnt see it on the top of the page,
“The first difference is that they practice a lot faster here – and not just the players, but the coaches. The players expect it, and that’s something you learn right off the bat. They don’t settle for less here.”
Notice the words TEAM and COACHES, smart one.
Now you know the quotes are on the top of the page, I wont paste Rhodes’ and Carr’s. When Rhodes compares the Colts and the Raiders, he calls the Colts a great whereas it was hard to fit in with the Raiders because well, plainly… they were not so great. Once again I emphasize on the word ORGANIZATION. Well, Carr’s comment is just self-explantory unless of course, you cant comprehend it and you want me do it? Let me know in your response. As you must know as is the case with 49ers, every team has its downtime and its only a matter of time, experience and growth before it reemerges. Dont get me wrong but quite bluntly SanFran still has a long road to even say… a 8-8 season.

Rob, all I can ask you to do is to hold your mom’s quote in high esteem as youll be getting alot of negativity form guys like Mike49er. Truly, your mom was a wise woman.

I mean, imagine having to be a fan of a franchise that hasn’t been a contender since… Well, since Steve Young?!?!?!

And even then… Young won a Superbowl with the team Montana built. The Raiders were still entrenched in LA (Auuuugggg) and my grandmother was having her 1st of 7 children, She wore miniskirts coz back in the day she looked good in them.

So I guess pity is more like it dude. Homeboy has to come over here to get attention. He probably had his lunch stolen on an ongoing basis. And I’m talkin last week dude, (yeeeikes?!)

Guys like him usually have issues. SEVERE ISSUES! Therefore they need the attention, partly born out of the utter frustration of wishing to be a citizen of the Raider Nation but CAN’T!!! seriously dude… That is enouph to drive anyone crazy!!!

So like Mr T would say, way back when the 49′rs where still viable, (about 20 years ago) just “Pity the fool!”

Other than that I think Mike is a great and amazing booster of the FRISCO 49′rs…

Carr has seen better days and I’m disappointed in him because he was an undrafted free agent… you’d think he would have a little more class and gratitude for a team that picked him when others wouldn’t. Return specialist have short careers and his days are long gone.

Dominic Rhodes I feel bad for him… But he’s a dude that seems to play good at the end of the season and we need him all season. I don’t falt him. After all he really never was a real Raider.

And FRISCO MIKE, If you say blaming an organization is not the same as blaming the players then why did Coop say Carr was going to get Jacked UP!!!

Cooper appreciated this team and though this IS a business… Loyalties are born and nurtured in the foxhole, there in the trenches and you NEVER leave your wingman nor your fellow combatant hanging.

That’s why I see Mossy ( mr SuperBowl Alligator arms Randy) As well as Carr, getting a lil extra sum, sum when they come a calling on our “D”…

Great article. Your take on all of these guys is right on. Especially Chris Carr. Man that guy sucked. There is a reason we had the worst punt return team and one of the worst kick return teams in the league. He’s a complete joke. I had high hopes for Fabian, but just as you said, he wasn’t any good. His numbers were ok, but they’re skewed because the NFL doesn’t keep a stat “Burned like toast”. Add to that our well documented inability to tackle, and he shouldn’t be surprised he’s gone. If he thinks Baltimore will keep him on the field like that he’s mistaken. Lastly, Rhodes might have been ok, but what does he expect? He’s like 5th on the depth chart after coming in suspended for the first 4 games. I have to say that none of the 3 will be missed at all.

PS - Mike49er, are you seriuosly coming to a Raider blog and calling the Raiders disfucntional? You’ve got to be kidding right? I mean here we have a Raider team heading in the right direction and your beloved losing niners have a head coach and starting QB at each other’s throats week in and week out. You guys have no hope, and no apparent future hope. This is a total throw away year for the 49ers, and the Raiders will improve greatly. I’ll wager $1000 that the Raiders win at least 3 more games than the niners this year. That must be why you’re here, because you know the niners have nothing.

Rhodes screwed us, and his chances to play with the Raiders when he got suspended. That was his own fault. So what’s he bitching about?

Washington was terrible. Paint it any way you like, but the guy sucked as a DB. Another track star in shoulder pads.

Chris Carr had flashes as a kick returner but he didn’t exactly shine as a nickle back. I remember him getting blown out more than a few times.

Three players we’re better without. Let’s hear some quotes from guys who actually make a contribution. Fargas, Morrison and Howard, Namndi. I bet they tell a different story.

But from what I see, “Turnstile” is not athletic enough to play tackle, especially LT. Go look at him on “U” Tube. He is to the 49ers what Washington and Carr are to the Raiders, expendable. AD should have got us a LT and move Harris to guard where he belongs.

Let’s bench him for ya Dom. Sour grapes is all it is…I remember similar comments when Gruden cleaned house and that is what is going on in Oaktown. There trully is two sides to this story…first side is we got rid of the guys because we had better players in their positions. It has to be a blow to the ego to get cut/traded by one of the worst teams in the league. These guys need to look in the mirror. Rhodes had to sign for the league minimum because interest in him was minimum, Carr had to go market himself to just get a team interested in him, Fabian is the one player of the three that does have value, but his attitude and off field issues make him expendable. Out of the three he has the most potential to perform at a high level again. I wish we could have swept him in the Hall trade and kept our 2nd rder. We could have had a stud WR to work with such as Hardy or Jackson. D. Hall will be worth it though. He may be a little ghetto fab, but he has a great work ethic and loves the game.

The second to this is these guys do bring up valid points to some extent. Having been such a poor team the last couple of years morale can’t not be all that good. We REALLY need to get off to a good start this year so we can start building good team morale.

I hope Washington and Carr will fire up this team. I hope those left really are loyal and want to play their hearts out this season. I also hope the pieces to upgrade the team are falling into place. A new and better CB is a great signing, a dynamic backfield with a hopefully dynamic QB. My concerns are the D-line, the O-line and special team. The D-line received hardly any upgrades against the run, but Sapp did say (last season) that Kelly is the best 3-technique in the league. We will see. The O-line is going through big changes yet again, so yet another season of rebuilding. There is great risk in that. Special team started decent last year and then deteriorated as the season progressed. Not sure why the good coverage degenerated into a bunch of lose cogs running every which way but at the ball-carrier.

I think the O-line and special team will dictate how successful we are this year.

As for trash talks, nothing speaks louder than our special team taking Carr down before he can take 2 steps and nothing speaks louder than our receivers blowing past Washington to a TD. When we are losing, there is no stopping all the negative talks even from 49er fan. The best way to stop all that is to win and to win convincingly. Until then, we will just have to shrug off those negative vibes.

These guys are all bums. the raiders are an easy target sure the last 5 years havent been great but if the players were really good they would have stacked their numbers…they had opportunities. fabian was on the list of most yards given up while on the field so what does that say about his coverage skills? hes just as bad as jason david for the saints haha…this is just as bad as mike williams talking about hes glad to be out of a losing situation..really? we lost a game soley because of his 18 yd first down drop…by the way the titans are no better of a team at least our qb can throw the ball downfield…im still not impressed with vince young (and im a a USC fan) but all these whiners can keep talkin cuz theyre not gon do any better elsewhere. good ridance stop crying

I did not read any negative comments specifically directed at the players. The NFL is pretty close knit, former players rarely speak out against their teammates. However, what they said should not come as a surprise to anyone. The rumblings of disarray have been rumored for years within the organization the results on the field speak directly to that.

    ———————–
    RaiderstellDeath: “Team, organization..same thing”

Mike49er: WRONG. Don’t even run that weak crappola. You and I both know the organization dictates what the team does. IF you let players jog slowly..they’ll jog slowly. You expect them to run full out, they run full out..right? If no one cares what goes on, players are lost. If someone is IN CHARGE, players know it. If a Moss dogs it, and NO ONE does anything about it, that’s on the organization, not all the other players. Same as showing up on time..no intensity workouts..no leadership on field..that’s NOT ON THE PLAYERS..that’s the organization.

You actually believe the players look at that, and get all butt hurt? lol..are you serious? IT’S A BUSINESS. They don’t go for that. Oh sure, when a reporter shoves a mic in their face, they’ll give a reply such as “Don’t appreciate that” because THEY KNOW THEY TEAM THEY”RE ON IS ALSO paying attention to their comment.
You ever see after the games? Niner fans hate the Rams, for example, but the players? could care less..it’s business. After the game, they’re all out there in the middle of the field, laughing and joking. It’s a business. They all know that very easily they can be on any other team in the league, as easy as that.

See..you have no one in control..AL IS IN CONTROL. Al is the organization. Coaches get overruled. Players get away with whatever they want. Players who are still perfoming get benched because Al got pushed out of shape.

What?? Are YOU saying you disagree? Are YOU or ANYONE HERE saying the Raiders are not a dysfunctional organization?

    Does anyone DARE SAY THAT??

No, didn’t ask you if SF or anyone else is or not..we can discuss that if you want..question is..are these players wrong for saying what they did?

Can you name any team in the NFL that has more issues from the owner on down, than the Raiders??

    Any team????
    No..you can’t.

See?? Didn’t say the players had issues..didn’t say the players weren’t trying..or performing..or caring.

EVERY reply to what’s dysfunctional has NOTHING to do with the players, or their efforts (idiots like Moss not withstanding). Has to do with the front office, and the coaching staff.

Everyone knows exactly what those players were referring to..leave it to Raider fans to twist it to mean it’s about anyone except Al.

I understand why these guys are pissed and lashing out and it has nothing to do with the Raiders organization. It has everything to do with who is replacing them.

How would you feel if your girlfriend dumped you for a younger, faster, more talented man?
You’d be a little sour, might have a hard time biting your tongue.

    Bottom Line:
We let Rhodes go to make room for DMAC
We let Fabian go to make room for DeAngelo
    Carr for ????

We lose three pretty good (NOT great) players….and we gain a 24 yr. old proven pro bowler, and potential offensive superstar.
    It’s a no brainer.

That being said, I was a fan of Fabian, i credit his strong rookie season for sparking the competitive fire in Namdi. Fabian came in and actually outplayed Namdi during his first year, Namdi (who had been around for two years I think) responded to Fab’s performance by elevating his play to all-star level the following year. Fabian went on to be beaten out by Stanford Routt (who played fantastic last year). I don’t have the numbers but I’d bet Fab was being paid a lot more that Routt. Fab had to go.

Rhodes: we never got to know him.

Carr: As an undrafted free agent he was an initially an exciting addition to the S&B. He was fast, spunky, and fun to watch in returns.
1/2 way through his 2nd year, it seemed as if his development ceased. No longer did it seem as if he could break one open at any time (though he did continue to have decent returns and only rare turnovers). From that point it seemed liked the Raiders were settling for a lesser player returning kicks. The Raiders are ready for fresh blood in this position. Why settle for Chris Carr, when there’s a Devin Hester out there somewhere. T
**The main concerns are muffs and fumbles when you have a rookie returning punts. If we have a few of those, we’ll miss Carr more than we think.

Mike49er: LMAO..geez..another idiot. “A few winds”?? WE OWNED THE NFL. We didn’t just have 17 seasons of 10 plus wins, which is a record, during that period we also set a record of winning 87+% of roadgames. Won MORE GAMES THAN ANY OTHER TEAM IN THE 80′S..and..won MORE GAMES THAN ANY OTHER TEAM IN THE 90′S AS WELL..yeah..fool…that’s a dynasty.
BTW..you don’t read much, do you?
EVERYONE knows of the Niner dynasty..except you little fools who are reduced to reading headlines, or copying something someone else stated. You’re an embarrassment to Raider fans in general, because the ACTUAL fans give credit where it’s due, and know your idiot take is going to be shredded.
BTW..fool..”won a few games”?? lol..did you mean ALSO WON 5 SUPER BOWLS??
How dumb are you to actual have set yourself up this way?
    Little Kenny: “Huh..what?? uh…WHAT?? i’S NOT dum”

    1994 - 2007 Garbage.

    ——————-
Let’s see, remove Bill Walsh and about 10 years and what do you have? Garbage!
Mike49er: Leave it to a Raider fan to still use his fingers to count. Ok, on your own..from ‘81 to ‘98 is how many years?? Take your time, moron. Oh..fool..during that period, the Niners set an NFL RECORD FOR 17 STRAIGHT SEASONS with 10 or more wins..dumbass.
BTW..speaking of Bill Walsh..how dumb, exactly, was Al Davis letting Bill Walsh leave? lol..
BTW..when was the Raiders last hurrah? 1983. This year will make it a QUARTER OF A CENTURY that the Raiders have failed to win a Super Bowl. 25 years, THIS YEAR, lol..
    Can you count that high?
    ———————–
Raiders have more players in the Hall with about 20 less years in the business - please. Maybe Jeff Garcia, Garrison Hearst or Frank Gore will get in the HOF - LMAO! hahahah!
Mike49er: Again..are you stupid, or just slow? Players in HOF?? Both teams have 11. Sorry, you don’t get to count players like Ronnie Lott, Lofton, Brown, etc.
Let me guess? You’re a soccer fan, right? Football is kind of new to ya?
Oh..and 20 years less? Let me guess? You dropped out of school because “It wasn’t cool’?? Niners came into the league in ‘50, Raiders in ‘60.
    Do the math.
Get help if you can’t figure it out on your own.
    ———————————
Whiner fans are a total joke. Take your wine and cheese somewhere else. Why are you even here. I know… how about go tailgate at a Stanford game… another bunch of losers
Mike49er: Niner fans support their team. Raider fans suck at supporting their team.
Niners stadium is the oldest in the league, and broken down. Niner fans don’t care. We still show up, and support our team. almost 70,000 seats and HAVE SOLD OUT FOR 26 STRAIGHT YEARS.
Raiders upgraded the stadium..Raider fans STILL couldn’t sell out. Raiders then closed off Mt. Davis, bringing your seating total down to 63,000 and you joke fans STILL can’t sell out.
Never compare Raider fan to Niner fan. There is no comparison. You’re the joke of the NFL for a reason.
it’s not an opinion, it’s a fact. You’re laughed at because you’re the butt of all jokes, and it’s not likely to change.

Mike49er, I hope your not getting paid much for whatever job it is that you are not doing all day while you fill this thread with garbage. Isn’t there somewhere 49er fans go to talk shop and play grab ass? Why pollute our boards with endless whiner history. Do you want to know what makes the Raider Nation better than whiner “fans” and every other team’s fans? Everything. Passion, friendship, loyalty, charity, devotion not just to a team, but also to each other and an entire community. Raider fans come from all over the globe. Whiner fans come from the south bay. Raider fans greet total strangers that are wearing Silver & Black. Whiner fans are so timid they’re even scared of each other. Whiner fans roll up their windows and lock their doors when they drive up to their stadium. Raider fans open their doors, tailgate, and cooler, crank up the stereo and get the party started. The Raider Nation is known worldwide. The 49er faithful is an advertising gimmick to sell tickets. And if you want to argue about sellouts and black outs. The Raider’s fans are typically not as rich as whiner fans this is true but I would bet you would get more free burgers, beers, and dogs at a Raider game than at a whiner game. The difference is obvious. You can debate win loss records all day but the truth is that the strength of the Raiders is it’s fans. The bottom line is that whiner fans hate the Raider Nation for the same reason that every other team hates us. Jealousy. Maybe not for the wins, but definitely for the brotherhood (and sisterhood) that we share that no other professional sports franchise can match up to.

Alright, dude: Joe Montana was good. So was Steve Young.
    Happy?

1994 was a long, long time ago.

It’s good to know all of the finger sandwich crowd will be drinking Perrier and eating sushi at the 49er tailgate party and reminding each other how good Jerry Rice was, because when your #1 overall draft pick gets benched in favor of the guy from the Amsterdam Admirals, your best WR is an AARP retread 7 years removed from the Pro Bowl, and you have a grand total of one good player on defense, there’s not a lot to talk about for 2008. Those were some good days, though. Relive them to the fullest.

You may sell out in 2008, but I will guarantee that the stadium will be half empty by the third quarter. At least you get a chance to see what a real team (and real fans) looks like on August 8.

But yeah, dude. If the NFL started in 1980 and ended in 1994, the 49ers were the best ever.

Things are starting to turn for the better with the Raiders and their talent.

Washington which if he stayed would have been lucky to make the 4th CB. And it was not just his tackling that done him in, they lighted him up like a Christmas Tree on more then one occasion. He is not good enough to play nickle for the Raiders but the Ravens are looking to him as a starter. As for his comments about Ravens practices after working with them in SHORTS, can you say sour grapes.

Rhodes stays and he is the number 4 back if that yet he heads to the Colts as a number two. He was not given much of a chance with the Raiders so the hostel talk is expected.

After the off season moves Carr’s days at playing in the Raiders secondary were over. His return duties were not enough to keep him around. The Titans take another of our cast offs.

Over the past few bad years it was the Raiders bringing in players that were not good enough to make another teams squad to come to us as starters.

Now it is starting to go the other way. Players that are not good enough to make the Raider squad are being snatched up by other teams where they will go and be much higher on the depth chart.

I have been a Raider Fan for many years and just because we have had a really horrible 5 years does not mean that my expectations on what a Raider player should be has been lowered.

None of the above are great or will they become great. The Raiders are starting to have some very good players at many positions and they have depth at those positions.

Yes my Raider Brothers and Sisters as I have stated in the past the last 5 years as bad as they were have allowed us to be in the position we are today with regards to many of these very talented YOUNG players. And I still say that the 2008 season will go down as the year the Raiders rose from the ashes. The Raiders are being built to not only win but to dominate for many a year.

Sure you get the RAIDER NATION all stirred up into a frenzy, but you really say alot about nothing. You want to debate? Debate what? How many superbowl wins? I’ll give you that with 5 wins, but you know I’m going to say all within 11 to 12 years.(I don’t know the time frame because I don’t care about the 49ers)Good run, but where are they now? The RAIDERS played in one in almost every decade. 5 superbowl appearances 3 wins. My point is this we can sit here and debate all the stats you want and talk trash about eachothers teams, but in the end I’m still going to be a fan of the RAIDERS. If that makes me dumb, what does that make you? Your team is not winning either even though in your words their owner does not butt in and let’s the coach, coach. Sounds like they don’t have the answers either. If you want a spirited debate then look to your own fan base and figure out what’s wrong with your team and leave the RAIDER NATION alone because we’re not going to change for anyone.

I love to debate and go over X’s and O’s with other football fans. It’s even better when you get people together with diffrent opinions. The one thing I can not stand is when someone has to give out insults to get his point acrossed. Hey 49erMike I do not think you would talk this way to anyone here if we were all in the same room, face to face. You have the backing of your team. thats great. Why don’t you come to a Raider game and talk your trash? Until you do your insults mean nothing. Anyone can be a bad ass on the other side of a computer screen. Mabey you would like to put down your address and some of the Nation can come over for some football conversation. I’m sure you’ll find it in you to tone it down on the insults then. The niners were great, the Raiders were great. Lets just see which team goes on to be great again first. I do notice one thing about your posts, there is no evidence of any football knowledge in them. Why is that?

are a little upset at the fact that your team has a weak arm quarterback and a no talent all hype te in v. davis. your right your team is soooo good maybe we can get advice on how to pick the drunkenmillers and alex smiths of the league. and you’re going brag about mike martz, ha! yeah he really turned that team in detroit around. if niners suck way more than the lions do what do you think he can do for the wieners…i’ll let you think about that for a moment and will standby until you finally get it…………………….5,4,3,2,1 ok now that you got the now wheels in your head turning i can resume. please stop with the copy and paste work we got it you must be truly proud of yourself that you figured that one out. and whats with all the abreviations, r u a lil’ schl grl txting all ur bff’s, what a pansy. oh yeah about gore being the lead rusher a couple a years ago. keyword, “was” the leader. i swear i was laughing my ass off when i heard the niners calling their supposed “offensive weapons” the triplets like they have anything close to what the cowboys had in the 90’s. it’s more like gore is the favorite son and smith and davis are his retarded brothers. and please stop with all the niner past accomplishments. stop living in the 80’s. do you get up every morning from your mother’s basement get in your de lorean start bumping flock of seagulls and still think the niners just won the superbowl today. I’M GOING TO TYPE THIS IN ALL BIG LETTERS SO YOU CAN UNDERSTAND. THE YEAR IS 2008 NOT 1988. talk about us being in a sinking ship your teams in the same boat as us or actually a collapsed gold mine with no way out. with that said you can go fuck your mother now.

RaiderB: Mike49er, I hope your not getting paid much for whatever job it is that you are not doing all day while you fill this thread with garbage.

Mike49er: All day? What? You still type with two fingers? Some think, and type fast. Some don’t. As well, I suspect this, to you, is extended reading.
Tell you what..to make it easier..don’t run your finger back and forth over your monitor while you read. See how that works out.
    ————————————-
Isn’t there somewhere 49er fans go to talk shop and play grab ass? Why pollute our boards with endless whiner history.

Mike49er: FIND A POST where I posted Niner history that was NOT in reply to someone throwing Raider history at me, and claiming our lack there of.
    It’s a reply.
    Get over it.
And clean off the smudges on your monitor.
    —————————————-
Do you want to know what makes the Raider Nation better than whiner “fans” and every other team’s fans? Everything. Passion, friendship, loyalty, charity, devotion not just to a team, but also to each other and an entire community.

Mike49er:That and two cents still buys you nothing.
Raider fans get arrested ripping off Raider fans. Raider fans are routinely arrested in the coliseum parking lot breaking into fellow raider fan cars. 98% of ALL FIGHTS AT RAIDER GAMES are raider fans against raider fans. Wonderful fairy tale, but total BS, lol…geez..look at you..”We’re all buddies”..that alone makes you a fool.
    —————————————
Raider fans come from all over the globe. Whiner fans come from the south bay.

Mike49er: Idiot take umpteen. All over the globe?? MORON..you can’t even sell out your OWN STADIUM. No city wants your sorryass.
Here’s a question I post, THAT NOT ONE OF YOU DARE ANSWER..find me ANYWHERE that doesn’t have fans from any number of teams? EVERY city in this country has fans represented from ALL TEAMS..geez..any home game for ANY TEAM ALWAYS HAS RIVAL FANS AT IT..why is that? Slap a duh on you and state ‘Oh..oops..guess you’re right..because every teams fans ARE EVERYWHERE.”
And I’ve been through Europe, saw Cowboy, Packer, Dolphin, Niners, Bills fans..and even a few Raider fans..People are everyone, nitwit.
    ———————————————
Raider fans greet total strangers that are wearing Silver & Black. Whiner fans are so timid they’re even scared of each other. Whiner fans roll up their windows and lock their doors when they drive up to their stadium. Raider fans open their doors, tailgate, and cooler, crank up the stereo and get the party started.
Mike49er: LMAO..you’re a tool. A little wannabee who screams I’M INTIMIDATED. Only a slapped on little boy would run that ‘I’m a raider fan..I’m a little wannabee badass..we is cool.”
Obviously you’ve NEVER been to a Niner game..chances are you’ve NEVER been to a Raider game. What a fool..that comment is too dumb to even warrant a reply. Yeah…wannabee..Niner fans don’t tailgate..Niner fans don’t bbq..everyone has their windows rolled up..again..YOU’RE A WANNBEE FOOL.
What? 12? 13??? Honestly..you can’t be an adult with that weak whine.
    —————————-
The Raider Nation is known worldwide.
Mike49er: What you mean to say is you’re laughed at worldwide.
    ——————————
The 49er faithful is an advertising gimmick to sell tickets. And if you want to argue about sellouts and black outs. The Raider’s fans are typically not as rich as whiner fans this is true but I would bet you would get more free burgers, beers, and dogs at a Raider game than at a whiner game. The difference is obvious.
Mike49er: Again, you show your ignorance. “Advertising gimmick”?? FOR OVER A QUARTER OF A CENTURY??? We haven’t been to a SB in over a decade, YET WE STILL SELL OUT. The Raiders, in ‘02, in the playoff stretch, in a GAME YOU NEEDED you STILL DIDN’T SELL OUT. JT the Brick was begging the sorry fans to show. It was BLACKED OUT.
That, my friend, makes you guys the weakest of the weak as far as support..oh..but if it helps..you bbq like no one *rolling eyes, and LMAO*
    ———————————-
You can debate win loss records all day but the truth is that the strength of the Raiders is it’s fans.
Mike49er: THE WEAKNESS OF THE RAIDERS IS IT’S FANS. How the hell can you even run that drivel? In the last 10 years NO TEAM HAS HAD WORSE SUPPORT FROM THEIR FANS THAN THE RAIDERS.
What part of that confuses you?
    —————————–
The bottom line is that whiner fans hate the Raider Nation for the same reason that every other team hates us. Jealousy. Maybe not for the wins, but definitely for the brotherhood (and sisterhood) that we share that no other professional sports franchise can match up to.
Mike49er: NO ONE hates the weak..deal with it.
NO ONE is afraid of a defenseless team..deal with it.
LAUGHING at someone is NOT hate..it’s entertainment.

Another question NO ONE WILL ANSWER: How can you possibly HATE something that presents you with nothing except humor?
    You can’t.

Dont’ feel bad..you’re only one of HUNDREDS who feel better believing you’re being laughed at because YOU’RE OH SO SCARY. lol..

    Yeah…that’s it.

Ken from Modesto: Mike49er Whiner Fan - agree with a few posts above. Wish I was unemployed like you and spending all day at home in my PJ’s writing on message boards. I meant to write ‘93. oops my bad! 94 was the yr the weak-ass niners bought a superbowl. Remember? I stand behind what i said - 49ers played in the worst division in football for most of their stupid freaking dynasty. I wish the Silver and black could get 4 wins a year - every year - from the sorry ass (then) Saints and (still) Cardinals… Oh… that’s right. The 49ers havent even done that in the last…..?

Mike49er: Congrats on being a LEMMING. Someone else runs the “You’re unemployed” and you get a little bulb going off saying ‘hey..I want to use that as well.” Good for you Kenny.
    Now pay attention.
Yeah, we played in the weak NFC West..JUST LIKE THE RAIDERS PLAYED IN THAT HORRIBLY WEAK AFC WEST when you were winning..but..difference is, the Niners won 87% of ALL NON DIVISION GAMES during those 15 years..pretty much torches your angle, doesn’t it? lol
    Try again.
    ——————————-
Please. Your facts suck and even if (by your 1st grade counting) we are tied for HOF - we did it in 20 less years. Scoreboard. PS: our uniforms are the best in football - yours look like shit

    Mike49er: LMAO..are you serious? THAT’S IT?
Geez..again..Niners in league in ‘50..Raiders in league in ‘60..come one Kenny..how many years is that? NOT 30, NOT 20..come on..you can do it.

Oh..I noticed you had SQUAT to say about my replies to your comments about our history, our stretch of 17 years 10 plus game wins, Bill Walsh, Fan support..etc.

Gee..what were the chances you would bail? lol..obviously pretty good.

Sbdice: Mike49er-It’s interesting to sit here and read your blogs. The more I read, the more I realize just how full of it you really are.

    —————————————–
    You’re confused, SB.
Change? Who said for anyone to change?

Who said you’re dumb for being a Raider fan?
    Not I.

Just glance down the list..nonstop insults..Now, find a post I replied to that didn’t toss out insults my direction, and you’ll see a civil reply, although frought with backhanded team smack, not personal insults.

Basically, if someone wants to toss out insult smack, I have no problemo returning it.

Besdies..it’s offseason..trying to wake you guys up :)

    As far as football knowledge?
    Wrong..you’re just selectively reading.

And no, I don’t think you’re a idiot because you’re a Raider fan..you’re just basically an idiot who very likely embarrasses fellow Raider fans. You being a fool would have happened regardless of the team you profess to support.

Mike49er–I read a post you wrote and you did say the RAIDER fans were dumb. I know you’re going to say that you didn’t but I read it with my own two eyes. Even if you didn’t your comments make it very clear as to how you feel about the “RAIDER NATION”. Change? Maybe that’s not what you said or meant, then what do you want? You don’t even have to answer, because I know what you’re doing. You’re just spitting words out to see where they land. I know you’re just defending yourself against what others are telling you well maybe you deserve it, because it sounds like to me you’re the one that started it by blogging here. Personally I don’t care about stats and all that, not because I don’t know any. I just don’t care to waste my time with you on that. The only reason why I post is because you question the loyalty of the RAIDER NATION. I can’t answer for all those who live in the bay area, but as you know fans come from all over which includes New Mexico. I have spent my hard earned money on a subscription to S&BI for 14 years and to the NFL TICKET on DirectTV for 5 years. I know you specifically mentioned the fans who don’t attend the RAIDER games, but when you talk about them and how weak you think they are you might as well be talking about the whole RAIDER NATION because that is how we take it. So please don’t question my loyalty.
