Oakland Raiders breaking news: Archuleta reported to be a Raider
Archuleta a Raider finally? Jerry says so
It looks like I'm going to have to get used to spelling yet another last name. According to Jerry McDonald, Adam Archuleta has been signed by the Raiders to take the place of injured safety and return man, Tyvon Branch. Branch suffered a hand injury during the first preseason game that requires surgery. According to the report, Greg Wesley may be the victim of the free agent signing.
Archuleta was drafted 20th overall in the 2001 draft. It was rumored that Al Davis was enamoured with the safety, but couldn't trade up to draft him. The Raiders instead took Derrick Gibson with the 28th pick, and we all know how that turned out.
DeAngelo Hall apparently has a minor hand injury as well. X-Rays were negative and he's scheduled to undergo an MRI on it. The Raiders are taking every precaution to ensure that he's ready for the start of the season. We should have more on the breaking developments later today.

Hate this move.
Archuleta is Schweigert but shorter. There's a good reason why this guy is unemployed.

Rob & Pat i love the new poll... Hahahaha! But about the Archuleta signing, its not good or bad... As long as he's being payed as a back-up, its all good... He's a good tackler at least, he just can't cover... Could be a good special teams move... I prefer him over Wesley anyways...
GO RAIDERS!!!

our friends at espn say he's gonna compete for the strongside lb position. thats where he had most of his success in st. louie. and fifth horses ass the cowgirls owner lokks like the cript keeper with a facelift. do you know what added depth for competition is. or does adding pac man jones look like a safe pick up to you. that move was way better than archuleta.

no JRuss LB is where he had success at AZ State. He was drafted to play Safety because he was considered too small to play LB in the NFL. I like the signing for that reason. Let us not forget that he had some good years in St Louis and got paid as a FA because of it. Then he got injured and never really returned to form. ala Ed Hartwell. He is known for being a hard hitter with his biggest negative being his downfield coverage ability. Sounds like LB to me. And there is always room for hard hitters on this team. Can't hurt to see what he brings to the table. And if he does end up playing Safety afterall, he would be better than Hiram Eugene.
Spokane: Archuleta runs circles around Schweigert and is great hitter and tackler. They are nothing alike except that they are both white dudes.

I like the move for LB depth.
And, Dizzle, besides both being white guys, they're both safeties who hit a ton but get toasted like Campfire girl marshmallows on a regular basis.
