Eating Crow
The Rams game is in the third quarter as I write, and it is obviously time for me to eat crow.
Gus Frerotte is having a career day. So far, he is 17 of 24 for 260 yards, 3 touchdowns, and no picks. He has been sacked only once.
Steven Jackson is having an extremely subpar day, with 36 yards on just 13 carries halfway through the third.
Atlanta has scored just 3 points.
What this boils down to is that I was wrong in my game preview in every possible way. But in my defense, who thought Frerotte could play? And who in their right mind would let him play with a horse like Jackson in the lineup? The coaches’ trust in their backup QB is admirable, and it seems to be paying off so it’s hard to criticize, but why isn’t this offense relying on Jackson?
That’s all for the moment, as I can’t watch the game due to blackout rules. I’ll be back later in the week.
