Redskins lose Rocky McIntosh for the season
Bram Weinstein on Redskin Radio reports that Redskin starting linebacker Rocky McIntosh tore his ACL and MCL during the first half of the Giants game. He will undergo surgery in the near-future and may not be recovered by the start of training camp next July.
The Redskins rotated rookie linebacker H.B. Blades in the line-up replacing McIntosh, with Khary Campbell playing in third down situations during the New York game. However, for the rest of the season, the Skins will turn to veteran linebacker Randall Godfrey.
McIntosh made 87 total tackles, three sacks and three forced fumbles. Given the opportunity to start, he is an important step in reloading Redskin defensive talent as the designated replacement for LaVar Arrington on the weakside.
The Redskins lose an important cog in the defensive front seven just as they face the Minnesota Vikings’ prolithic ground attack. With the one-two punch of Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor, the Vikings lead the league with an average 172 rushing yards per game.

I hope they give HB some playing time, too. I like his quickness and instincts. He closes on a play fast and brings a ton when he collides.

After watching the Vikings on Monday night, this game won’t be easy, but it will be winable. If we put 8 men in the box to stop the run and make Tavaris Jackson beats us, we’ll have a good shot.

One other comment, Randall Godfrey will likely get a lot of playing time for Rocky because Godfrey is a great run stopper.

The Bears offense definitely lost that game last night. I think you’re right, Gregg, that the Vikings are more of a one-dimensional team, regardless of whether Bollinger or Jackson is QB. They’ll ride Peterson all the way if they can.
