John Clayton on Kelly and Thomas

ESPN’s John Clayton summarized team MTA’s from last weekend. Here’s what he wrote about Redskins rookies Malcolm Kelly and Devin Thomas:

“The Redskins’ Malcolm Kelly showed great hands, while their other new receiver, Devin Thomas, showed great speed. Both should expand the Redskins’ offense. Plus, they are big targets, Kelly checking in at 225 pounds and Thomas at 224.”

Clayton provided more details on rookie TE Fred Davis now famous sleep-over in his story Five things we learned from first minicamps.

It seems Davis couldn’t get to sleep Saturday night because his roommate was talking too much. So, he went to the hotel desk and got a new room. The Redskins couldn’t find him the next morning because he was not where they thought he was.

Adam Heller, Davis’ agent, spoke with Jason Reid at The Post to insist that Davis spent the evening at the team hotel Saturday night and was not out on the town as alleged in some rumors.

Although drafted, Davis, like Kelly, Thomas and the other rookies are not yet under contract to the team.
