Day 4 at Redskins Training Camp
It was on the cusp of being another rain out at Redskins Park, but thankfully a light drizzle is all mother nature could muster this morning.
*Any talk of a QB competition needs to be ended. Campbell has been very impressive the past two days, while Collins has had quite a few head-scratchers. Campbell, even though he’s learning a new system, looks like he’s in command. He ran a very smooth 2 minute drill today which ended in a touchdown, and he only threw one bad pass in the 11-11’s, an underthrow to Devin Thomas on a deep ball. He is getting rid of the ball faster, and has been spreading around to everyone.
*Malcolm Kelly was the standout rookie today, catching everything that came in his area. He always attacks the ball with his hands and just snags it out of the air. Another positive is the fact he is running with no sign of damage to his knees.
*London Fletcher was out there today and you could tell. In 11-11’s he caused a fumble when he cracked the receiver coming across the middle. There is no question about his leadership skills, everybody is lined up correctly and punctually when he’s in the middle.
*Jason Taylor saw some snaps today and was typically quick off the edge and had it not been for the yellow jersey on the QB, would have had 2 sacks in a handful of snaps.
* The WR’s are easily the best that the Skins have had in a very long time. Thomas and Kelly do not appear to be overwhelmed by anything, and Moss, Randle-El, and Thrash have not dropped a thing. A big positive I saw was that after practice, Cooley was staying after to catch more passes, and when it’s one of the leaders of the team it sends a great message.
* The play of the day goes to Laron Landry and Shawn Springs. In the 11-11’s Collins floated a nice 20 yard go-route to Maurice Mann, but Springs had perfect coverage and would have had an interception if Landry hadn’t come over and laid them both out. Landry’s great range was on display as he came from the other side of the field to make sure nobody got the ball. Bittersweet as well because whenever he makes a play, you can’t stop from thinking about Sean Taylor and the utter chaos those two would have caused for the next decade, it sucks.

From time to time, I see division rivals find their way into our territory over at the Dallas Cowboys Round Up, so here I am studying the enemy (no, I’m not lost). Your DeadSkins might be their best in the receiving corp they have been in a long time, but on the other side of the ball, the Cowboys are looking the best they’ve been since their inception (on paper, anyway). I’m really looking forward to our two meetings this year…revenge will be the story of the game. With the Giants loss of Shockey and Strahan, I really think the Skins will be our only formidable opponent in the NFCE. Good luck!

“Good Luck” from a Cowboys fan????
Ya, right!
I do thank you, Jonathan, for stopping by. I think all of the NFC East improved this offseason. The battle for the East will be even more competitive this year.
