Seahawks Week 14 preview
Can you believe that we are already at Week 14? Well, if you’re a Seahawks fan, glue yourself to the T.V. at 1 PM PT, because this Sunday is going to be a big day.
The Seahawks (8-4) will face off against division rival the Arizona Cardinals (6-6) in a game that all of Seattle has been looking forward to since Sept. 16. Back in Week 2, the Seahawks let a game slip through the cracks when Cardinal kicker Neil Rackers gave Seattle a taste of their own medicine by kicking a 42-yard game-winning field goal with 1 second left in the game.
For those of you who recall that disappointing loss, you should know that the Cardinals will be facing a much different team this time around.
The Seahawks are coming into this game on a 4-game winning streak, not to mention the impressive numbers certain individuals have been able to put up since the mid-way point of the season.
In the last four games that the Seahawks have won, Matt Hasselbeck has thrown for seven touchdowns and only one interception. Mo Morris proved that Seattle can as a matter of fact run the ball. And the defense has been outstanding in giving the team opportunities to win the game.
The Seahawks have the opportunity to clinch the NFC West Division title for the fourth consecutive season with a win over Arizona. Seattle also has the opportunity to secure a first round home playoff game with a win too.
However, Seattle has to be careful not to get too excited. The Cardinals has also been playing good football as of late winning three of their last four games as well. Kurt Warner has been putting up consistent numbers with the absence of former Heisman winner Matt Leinart. The status of wide receivers Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin are questionable due to injury and this could definitely play into Seattle’s favor come this Sunday, because of Arizona struggles with running the ball. This season they have only been averaging 68.8 yards with RB Edgerrin James.
If the Seahawks want to win the game this Sunday, they must first stop the run. James came off running with 114 yards last week on 24 carries last Sunday against the Browns. Although he has been pretty quiet this season, James is a running back that can break out at anytime, so the defense really needs to clog up the holes and make the Cardinals one-dimensional. And if Arizona is without Boldin and Fitzgerald this weekend, the Seahawks’ defense really should have no problem in holding the Cardinals’ offense.
So…you stop the run, you stop the offense, and you win the game. Simple as that.
My prediction for this Sunday is Seahawks 27, Arizona 10.
