Pacman Days As Titan Numbered?

According to the Tennessean, Titans cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones said this at a charity basketball event:

“I really think my days being a Titan is over with. I enjoyed my stay here. I just think my days as a Titan is over with.”

Pacman, the troubled yet talented player, has drawn a lot of interest from the Cowboys as the Titans look to unload him.

Its clear that this deal is likely to get done, warranting that comment. The Titans want to get him as far away as possible from them because of all the legal issues he’s gotten into since he was drafted. Dallas needs another corner for their defense badly, and could also use a boost in special teams.

Now, the only hold-up there if owner Jerry Jones decides that he wants him could be commissioner Roger Goddell not reinstating him before the draft. The Cowboys would be weary to give away any draft picks, even a seventh rounder, if they weren’t sure he would play for them, and the Titans want draft picks that they can use for the 2008 season.

The most likely scenario, and in my opinion what will end up happening, is that Jones is shipped to Dallas for a seventh rounder and another player in the next week. To ensure that trading for Jones wouldn’t hurt the Cowboys PR or money wise, the Cowboys and Jones would agree on a new contract, giving Pacman the money only if he stays out of trouble and gets reinstated.

If the Cowboys are able to make this move, I personally would love it. They get an incredibly talented corner and return man who brings energy and passion to the field. No one doubts his on-field ability. Now, its always nice to have a good public perception, but if Pacman was to get arrested again, Dallas could just release him. Sure, it could hurt them a little for PR, but they’d still be “America’s Team”, have support from their fans, and have the same coaches and players. Its a move that could really pay off for them, and it looks like they see the reward it could bring.

Also, in the draft, they’d be able to focus on other needs, particularly on the offensive side of the ball with a running back and wide receiver depth.

Everyone should do his/her own research about
    9/11.

WTC-7 has small, scattered fires, yet implodes in
a controlled demolition. Silverstein says it was
    pulled.

Airliner with a 125′ wingspan disappears though a
16′ foot initial impact hole at the Pentagon.

All clear video of what blew-up the Pentagon being
    withheld to this day.

NORAD stands down due to Cheney, I mean Osama
    & 19 flunkies with boxcutters.

    Etc., etc., etc.,

Well, the Pacman thing is just like eating honey that tastes good but is bitter during digestion. He is a career Thug whom we as Cowboys fans have no guarentees from the Commissioner, that he will be reinstated ever again. Even if he is reinstated, there is no guarentee he will not end up back in jail and then he is done forever in the NFL.

A GM must think of Pacman as an impounded BMW up forsale for bargain prices. However, the catch is, there is no guarentee the BMW will be released for travel in time for your trip or ever for that matter. Also, if that BMW ever gets pulled over again, its toast and will become scrap metal. Now, let me ask any of you - are you buying that car?

With this in mind, our Cowboys should not give the Titans anything unconditional. Only a 7th round 2009 (not 2008) conditional pick and if a player is involved, make it a conditional trade based on Pacman being reinstated before the regular season. If Pacman is not reinstated, then Dallas does not loose a pick or a player. That is the only way I would do this very risky deal if I were a GM.

Jerry Jones and Pacman deserve each other. Jerry is desperate, Dallas has not won a playoff game in 12 years. Time is running out on him. Wasn’t it the most beautiful sight to see Jerry on the side line as the Giant’s pulled the rug out from under him. To quote what Wellington Mara enjoyed to say after the Giant’s would beat Dallas “arrogance humbled”. He knew the true traits of Jerry. Dallas has self proclaimed themselves “America’s team”. They are far from the the idol of most Americans. Here’s hoping Jerry gets Pacman to add to T.O. and Tank. Lots of luck.
