Raiders Sign Wade
The Associated Press on NFL.com reports that the Raiders have signed center John Wade to a deal. Wade started every game to the Buccaneers at center for the past three seasons. However, he’s not guaranteed a starting spot, mostly because he’s getting old at thirty-two.
Jake Grove, the back-up last year, may win the job instead of Wade. He’s started for Oakland in the past and done a decent job. However, knee injuries have slowed his career.
This signing pretty much kills the chances of Oakland bringing their starting center from last year, Jeremy Newberry, back.
This is a pretty good signing, bringing a guy in with a lot of experience. He’ll provide depth at center even if he doesn’t start, and gives them more than just one option.
