Cowboys Interested In Williams?
According to the Dallas Star-Telegram, the Cowboys are still looking at wide receiver options even with the possibility of Terry Glenn coming back. The one that they may have the most interest in is Roy Williams of the Lions.
Detroit coach Rod Marinelli has said again and again that his team will not trade Williams, with him being their best receiver.
However, it seems like a good time for the Lions to trade him, mainly because Williams is a free agent after this season. Detroit may plan to use the franchise tag on him, but eventually, they should be losing him with Calvin Johnson also needing a new deal soon.
Therefore, I’m not going to throw out the possibility of a Williams to Dallas trade. The Cowboys appear willing to give up their first round pick, and Jerry Jones just has a way of getting things done.
The Cowboys could certainly use Williams, as right now, they aren’t sure of Terry Glenn’s status, and Patrick Crayton is more of a third receiver than a second. In a shortened season, Williams was decent, but not spectacular. Still, he’s a premier receiver.
So again, even though it sounds like it is, Detroit trading Roy Williams is not unrealistic. However, I don’t think that a deal will get done, as the Cowboys could look to the draft for receiving help, but its still possible.
