Bucs Close With Graham, Who’s Not Unhappy
Good news for Buccaneers fans, according to the Tampa Bay Tribune, with running back Earnest Graham saying this:
”The workouts are all voluntary right now and we’ve got some family things we’re doing, so that’s why I’m not there. It’s not because of the contract. That’s going good; it’s almost there. And I plan to be there when the next voluntary workouts begin after the draft.”
Graham’s contract is up at the end of this season, and some thought that he was sending a message by not attending the workouts. However, this clearly shows that he just isn’t going for other reasons.
It would certainly be understandable if he was holding out because of contract reasons. Following a breakout season in which he became Tampa Bay’s main running back, Graham is set to be paid a meager $605,000, not exactly top dough for a player of his caliber.
But thankfully for fans, it appears that they’ll lock him up soon, as they need to do with him in the last year of his contract.
I’m not sure if the twenty-eight year old is the Bucs starting running back in the future, but he’ll be important this year, with the uncertainty of Cadillac Williams and the age of Warrick Dunn. He’ll be a key to their success, and its good that he plans on participating.
