Rams Not Offering 2nd Rounder For Sheppard
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, amid reports that the Rams were offering their second rounder to the Eagles for cornerback Lito Sheppard, two officials from the organization denied that they were, saying that they’re just interested.
They could use him, with injuries behind starter Fakhir Brown. However, they probably aren’t willing to offer the second round pick anymore because Brown will be allowed to play in 2008 even with a failed drug test. The Rams want to look at helping areas besides the secondary today, probably both of their lines.
Still, I might have done the deal if I were them, as their corners are not very impressive, but it doesn’t really matter now.
So, it appears that there are two teams interested in Sheppard right now: the Buccaneers and Saints.
If New Orleans can’t get Jeremy Shockey, than there’s a good chance they could get Sheppard if they have enough time, as they pick twelve spots ahead of Tampa Bay in the second round.
However, I do think they’ll get Shockey, and believe that Sheppard will be traded the Bucs for their second and sixth rounder. We’ll see what happens, as a trade is likely to come soon.
