Rumor: Marvin Harrison was target of a “hit”
There’s a story circulating that Marvin Harrison was the target of a hit in the gun incident that left one man injured in his hand.
Profootballtalk.com reports that Philadelphia sports anchor Keith Russell quipped the story on a Miami radio spot citing sources who claimed the supposed hit was in retaliation for something Harrison’s father did. However, Russell has not reported that story on air and other media sources in Philadelphia say the story isn’t true.
The incident occurred Sunday in the North Philadelphia neighborhood where Harrison grew up. Police have no new developments in the case. Harrison has not been charged.
Athletes as targets have been a growing concern in the NFL following the shooting deaths of Sean Taylor and Darren Williams. Steelers rookie running back was robbed at gunpoint while walking along Chicago’s lakefront early Monday morning. In September, Houston Texans cornerback Dunta Robinson was robbed of jewelry at home. The robbers left him tied up.
The NFL regularly holds seminars on player safety.
