Shaun Alexander drawing interest
NFL.com’s Adam Schefter reports that the New Orleans Saints and possibly the Denver Broncos are lining up to look at free agent running back Shaun Alexander.
The 2005 NFL MVP award winner visited the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday and Monday and is scheduled to visit the New Orleans Saints Wednesday. Both the Bengals and the Saints see Alexander as a depth play, Cincinnati to back up Rudy Johnson and New Orleans out of concern for Deuce McAllister’s health.
Cincinnati is the team nearest Alexander’s boyhood home in Kentucky.
The Bronco’s interest in said to be preliminary, but Mike Shanahan’s offense is friendly to running backs. That might be Alexander the Great’s best option to revive his career if he can pull it off.
