Strahan: I’ll quit before I do training camp
Giants defensive end Michael Strahan hasn’t quite put it that way, but he’s dropped enough hints about his feelings.
John Clayton writes that Strachan is “60-40″ to retire before training camp in July in a story posted to ESPN Insider. Tough Tommy Coughlin won’t give Strahan a pass on training camp, like he did last season.
Strahan held himself out of training camp for 36 days last year. He reported to the Giants just before the final cut-down day, about a week before game one against the Cowboys. Strahan would go on to record 57 tackles and nine sacks in the Giants’ Super Bowl season.
So, when Strahan “retires,” does he follow-through and file retirement papers with the league and the NFL Players Association? And if he does, will he make a phone call to coach Coughlin or GM Jerry Reese the week before game one against the Redskins?

ok her is a thought if M.S does in fact call it quits and M.K move back to DE, i see big trouble for our very young LB core. we have 2 vet 2 rookies and 2 players with 1-2 year xp. this isnt good.
well for what i hear Golf is a hell of a player not very fast but smart and could start.
i disagree this guy is slow but is a hitter, AP is slow and is a hitter and the same goes for the other guy clark who looks like he could be starting. our passing scheme on the D side would not be looking up.
and if these are the starters who will be the blitizing LB.
i just hope Wilkenson can finally steep up and be the player we know him to be. if wilkenson can play like he did during the Pat’s game. then he is an improvment over Mitchell and the slowness of AP and who every playes which i hope is ZD casue he can cover at an average level
