Harrison in, Winslow Jr out of team practices
Star wide receiver Marvelous Marvin Harrison is expected to attend the Indianapolis Colts mini-camp that starts today, according to a story on ESPN.com.
Harrison was questioned about a gun incident that occurred outside a business he owns in Philadelphia. Harrison acknowledges owning the weapon, but he is not a suspect in the case at this time.
Cleveland Browns tight end Kellen Winslow, Jr. is rehabbing from knee surgery in San Diego rather than the Brown’s Berea, Ohio practice facility.
Winslow is not required to attend Cleveland’s OTAs with the rest of the team; he couldn’t drill with them in any event. But, his absence stirs concern that he might hold out of training camp according to a story on USAToday. Winslow is hoping to have his contract reworked after an improved performance in 2007.
The Browns, who reworked Winslow’s contract after his motorcycle accident in 2005, say they will not do it a second time.
Winslow Jr. is represented by Drew Rosenhaus, who also represents disgruntled players Chad Johnson, Javon Walker and Anquan Boldin. Rosenhaus clients make take high profile pronouncements and skip voluntary practices in a campaign to either force a new deal or a trade. However, it’s rare that the player misses training camp, although they could be a disruptive influence when that get there, as was Terrell Owens with the Eagles in 2005.
