Chad Johnson is running with his ankle and not his mouth
Bengals.com reports that wide receiver Chad Johnson is running on his surgically repaired ankle and is expected to show at Carson Palmer’s passing camp this week.
Johnson had bone spurs removed from the ankle on June 19. He is expected at the Bengals training camp when it opens July 28, but the story points out that Johnson may not be “full go” initially.
“He feels a lot better than when he first had (the surgery), but we’re not going to push it. The key is not to let him do too much too soon,” said Charles Collins, Johnson’s mentor/coach who joined Cincinnati’s staff this season throught the NFL’s Minority Coaching Fellowship.
The same story points out that TJ Houshmandzadeh has quietly eclipsed Johnson as the Bengals leading receiver. Over the past three seasons, Houshmandzadeh has 280 receptions to Johnson’s 277.
If Johnson, “Housh your mama” and Palmer stay healthy, the Bengals should re-emerge as a passing powerhouse this year.
