Bears sign Williams
Chicagobears.com reports that the Bears have signed their first-round pick, offensive tackle Chris Williams, to a five-year deal.
I like the former Vanderbilt player. He’s smart, has size and can play three or even four positions on the line. He might be the starter at left tackle in the first game of the season, despite veteran John St. Clair being ahead of him.
Williams, the fourteenth pick overall, becomes the last Chicago rookie to sign a deal. They have to be happy with the progress they’ve made in negotiations. First Brian Urlacher, now Williams. He should be their starter at tackle for a long time. And we all know that with those bad quarterbacks, running backs and receivers, they are pretty desperate for anyone who can block.
