Boldin gone in 2010?
Cardinals’ receiver Anquan Boldin said some troubling words in the East Valley Tribune:
“After last year, I was promised a deal would get done before this season. But the season is here and obviously that hasn’t happened. I don’t want a deal. People may think I’m being funny, or just saying that to say that. But I’m just tired of it. I’m washing my hands of the whole situation.”
“My agent (Drew Rosenhaus) has orders not to negotiate.”
Boldin isn’t a free agent until 2010, so he could definetely back off from these claims before that year. He’s frustrated because he feels he’s outplayed his current contract, even though it was given to him just three years ago, the second of his short career. Plus, with others around him getting extensions, like Larry Fitzgerald, he might be a little jealous and feel betrayed.
I’m absolutely fine with what Arizona is doing, but I guess he feels so strongly about it that he’s willing to say all this stuff. It’s not looking like he’ll remain in an Arizona uniform longer than two years, but again, things like this can change between now and then. If they’re willing to give him a new contract after this season, he’ll have to listen.
