Chargers sign Cason
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the Chargers have signed their first-round pick, cornerback Antoine Cason, to a five-year deal. It will pay him a little more than $12 million, with $6 million guaranteed.
The former Arizona Wildcat has missed the first two days of practice, although only rookies were on the field. Yesterday, it was reported that the Chargers would only give him one more offer, and he could take it or leave it. I’m not sure what happened, but it looks like he took it, which is very good for both sides, as I thought this would be a long holdout.
Even though he won’t start in his rookie season, Cason will play a valuable role for San Diego, trying to become the third cornerback and helping out on special teams. It might not seem like much, but he can definetely do a lot to help the team and show that he should start in the future.
