Lions give Bodden new deal
Adam Schefter of NFL.com and the NFL Network reported on-air that the Lions have given cornerback Leigh Bodden a new deal. It’ll be a four-year one, worth $27 million. However, the Lions could cut him after this season if he has an off-year.
Detroit acquired Bodden in a pre-draft trade with the Browns, sending Shaun Rogers to Cleveland. At only twenty-six, he’s already made a name for himself, becoming a very good defensive player, even with the bad 2007 year he had. Maybe a change of scenery is all that he needs. This contract will certainly help to make him happy, as he’ll receive much more money than before.
So all in all, a pretty good deal for Detroit. They’re reloading and rebuilding on defense, and this is a guy they want to see be on it for the next five years.
