Training Camp Questions
With teams heading into training camp, many questions come up, including one big one for all thirty-two teams. In this post, I’ll take a look at what that is, going by the order of reporting dates for veterans. As teams report, I’ll update the post with their question.
July 19th
Washington Redskins- How will new coach Jim Zorn adjust to Washington, and how will he be able to help the offense, with so many weapons, out?
July 23rd
Arizona Cardinals-Is Matt Leinart ready to come in and show that he’s mature enough to be the starter?
Baltimore Ravens- Who will be their quarterback? Cam Cameron is a great offensive coordinator, but they need to first find the man who’ll get the ball each play. Troy Smith, Kyle Boller and first-round pick Joe Flacco are all in the competition.
Chicago Bears- Can they find any degree of consistency in their starting lineup by choosing a quarterback, running back and starting receivers that will stick all season?
Cleveland Browns- Can a group of youngsters give the Browns anything at cornerback and give a big boost to their defense?
Detroit Lions- How easy will it be for Detroit to adjust to their new run-first style, with them executing the zone-blocking scheme and finding a good running back and offensive line?
New England Patriots- How will all of the players, veterans and youngsters, respond to their heartbreaking super bowl loss and cheating allegations from last season?
New Orleans Saints- Will Reggie Bush show that he’s capable of being an every down back by making great strides in camp and completing the offense?
New York Jets- With tons of new players in camp, will the Jets be able to take advantage by finding a decent quarterback in either Chad Pennington or Kellen Clemens?
July 24th
Indianapolis Colts- Will Marvin Harrison put his possible legal issues and bad knee aside and play like the star he is, starting in camp?
Kansas City Chiefs- Can Brodie Croyle, the guy who the Chiefs want to be their franchise quarterback, show improvement and prove that he is the answer for the future?
New York Giants- Can the Giants overcome the losses of some key players on defense, including Michael Strahan, and field a team capable of repeating?
Oakland Raiders- What will JaMarcus Russell, last year’s #1 overall pick, do in his first year of camp, and will he demandingly take the starting job?
Philadelphia Eagles- Will two key offensive players, Donovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook, overcome their problems(McNabb- injured shoulder, Westbrook- contract dispute) and play well for the Eagles?
San Francisco 49er’s- How will the offense, especially quarterbacks Alex Smith and Shaun Hill, adjust to Mike Martz’s unusual system?
Seattle Seahawks- Can Julius Jones become the every down back that he has the potential to be and fill that need for Seattle?
