Jevon’s fairy tale return hits a snag

Apparently, it was too good to be true.

The return of The Freak has been reminiscent of a fairy tale: a prodigal son returns from a slew of lackluster seasons after signing a lucrative free-agent deal with the Eagles to save the day for a Titan defensive line that lost two key players to free agency.

Since his re-arrival in Tennessee, Jevon’s smile and his dedication have been on constant display as he has appeared motivated to recapture his past glory experienced during his first few years in the league with the Titans.

This weekend, the heartwarming fairy tale hit a snag with his DUI arrest near Vanderbilt University.

Unfortunately, a player making news off of the field isn’t exactly uncharted territory with this franchise. As we all know, the corner formerly known as Pacman was subjected to the police blotter on a seemingly consistent basis while returning punts and making interceptions with the Titans.

Of course, this is Jevon’s first offense so by no means should we begin making comparisons to “the corner.” Jevon has been one of the good guys in this league; so hopefully, we can chalk this unfortunate incident up as merely a lapse in judgment that won’t be repeated.

Despite this weekend’s events, Jevon is still healthy (knocks on wood immediately!) and ready to go for the 2008 season. He should be motivated to prove the many doubters wrong who believe his best days are behind him and as a fan; I am looking forward to seeing what he will bring to the table next year.

Hopefully, the clock is nowhere near midnight in the fairy tale return of Jevon Kearse.

its unfortunate we get this “off the field stuff”

first ryan fowler and steriods, then the BJ and the gun and now this.

2 things i did notice as he came out of the jailhouse–he didnt speak to the media and he looked like he was in great shape.

2 rumors–he has mcnairs atty and the campus cop was out of his area.

    jrtitans,

I saw the same footage as well and I agree that Jevon appears to be in great shape.

Last night, the original broadcast of the “Music City Miracle” aired on the NFL network and it was amazing to see how dominant Kearse was in that game. He was all over the place and giving the Bills o-line fits.

I’m not expecting a return of the Freak circa 1999/2000, but anything remotely close would be great for the Titans’ defense next year.

    Thanks for commenting.
