Sid Distorts The Facts, Mewelde’s On The Way Out

*I hate to make fun of Sid Hartman. He’s old, senile, and we should all probably just leave him alone. With that said, though, I can’t possibly ignore this gem from Grandpa Sports:

“There are some positives about the Vikings’ 1-3 record, including that they have outscored the opposition 67-59, even though there has been nothing but criticism of the offense.”

Oh. My. Lord. Sid can’t possibly be serious, can he? As 10,000 Takes points out, the defense has scored 21 of those 67 points…so the offense has only put up 46 points. Man, Sid’s taking homerism to a whole new level…now, he’s downright distorting the facts to make the hometown boys look better than they actually are.

I dunno…I’m starting to put more of the blame on the coaches for the offensive ineptitude. The pass protection has left a lot to be desired, and the quarterbacks haven’t been making any plays, but I’m a firm believer that the Vikings wouldn’t be in such a mess if Chilly would’ve managed Adrian better in these past few games.

Moving forward, I just want a little consistency from Chilly. Give Adrian the ball throughout the ENTIRE game…in key drives, game-deciding drives, early-in-the-game drives. He’s the most talented guy on offense…just give him the freaking ball. Closed-circuit to Chilly: Step one in saving your job is utilizing Adrian…don’t try to outsmart yourself. Again, just put him on the field.

*The Vikings are expected to trade Mewelde Moore in the next week, according to multiple league sources. That’s a shame…as I’ve said, I’m disappointed that Mewelde hasn’t seen the field more often, since he can make an impact in the return game (I haven’t been too impressed with Bobby Wade’s punt returns) and as a third down back.

But if Chilly isn’t even going to have Mewelde in uniform on Sundays, I guess it only makes sense to trade him. And with both Cadillac Williams and Michael Pittman out with injuries, Tampa Bay is the overwhelmingly likely destination for Moore.

The Vikings will play hardball with Tampa, but I ultimately expect our front-office to settle for a second-day pick…a third-round pick is simply an unreasonable demand for Mewelde. It will be interesting to see how negotiations between these two teams progress, as the trade deadline draws nearer…I just hope the Vikings will get something for Mewelde, even if it’s only a fourth or fifth-rounder.

He is, after all, a free agent after this season.

*If you’re still on the fence about Childress, his recent quote about the Packers/Bears game should convince you of what a fool he is:

“I think it’s an example of obviously a tail of two halves. You can’t ever get conservative in this business because it’s too close. You’ve got to stay on the throttle. You’ve got to be smart with the football, but you still have to be aggressive as well.”

I’m speechless. Literally speechless.
