Getting Set For The Cowboys

*Interesting tidbit from Access Vikings…Bryant McKinnie’s been playing with a broken hand for the past few weeks. Funny, because he had a fantastic game against Chicago…whenever I watched him during the game, he was absolutely mauling his guy on the defensive line. And he was actually moving his feet. Mount McKinne should break his hand more often!

*SI.com thinks the Vikings should ease AD along, and I’d tend to agree. I think last week’s workload is pretty much the amount of playing time I’d like to see Adrian receive through the rest of the season…20 carries, a couple of other touches (kickoff returns, receptions).

I will say this, though: I’m still not completely comfortable with Adrian returning kicks. He’s a tremendously athletic guy who could have great success in the return game, but is it worth the injury risk? I don’t think so…I’d use him sparingly as a returner.

I’ve proven myself to be a Mewelde Moore rube over the past few weeks, so I’d prefer to see Mewelde used as a kickoff returner (and punt returner, for that matter). He’s always been a reliable returner, and besides, the future of this team isn’t exactly resting on his shoulders- it wouldn’t be devastating if he got hurt on a return. C’mon Chilly…activate MeMo!

*Hooray for corporate-sponsored awards! Adrian was named the FedEx Ground Player of the Week.

*Troy Aikmain will be the commentator for the Vikes/Cowboys game…and I doubt he’ll be mentioning this story (gotta give a hat tip to the Pacifist Viking). Brandon Lloyd implied that Aikman is gay in a recent radio interview, while stating that Jeff Garcia isn’t gay. Since he’s an expert on the sexual orientation of NFL quarterbacks, I’m surprised Lloyd had no comment on Joey Harrington. I mean, that guy plays the piano for Crissakes!

Excuse me while I roll my eyes. Lloyd is a tool.

*Koren Robinson is returning to the NFL, which brings back some sad memories. Man, he was slated to become the number one receiver on this team, but it just wasn’t meant to be…he almost reminds me, to an extent, of Eddie Griffin, as both guys had struggles in their personal lives that prevented them from reaching their potential. Here’s hoping that K-Rob can get things turned around.

Err…that’s all I got for tonight. More tomorrow…

Ok, I lied…I ran out of time today. I’ll have more news and a preview up on Saturday.

I really hope that they decide to stop using Peterson on kickoff returns because of the way he performed last week. I know rookies are expected to cut their teeth on special teams but man, I don’t like seeing him running toward careening special-teamers.
