Did Favre and Bevell Hold Talks?
*Given the spotty track record of rumors reported by Pro Football Talk, take this report with a grain of salt:
Former Packers quarterback Brett Favre talks from time to time with former Packers quarterbacks coach Darrell Bevell, who currently serves as the offensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings.
And there is talk of conversations between Bevell and Favre regarding the possibility of Favre playing for the Vikings. We presently don’t know whether the discussions occurred recently, or whether they occurred earlier in the offseason. (We also don’t know conclusively whether they occurred at all.)
Ah, great. Throwing a tampering allegation onto the internet without anything substantial to back the report up. Pro Football Talk is generally an excellent site, but I have a problem with Mike Florio even reporting this rumor — he’s implying that a Viking coach broke NFL rules, and could hardly be more vague about the sources used for this report.
I’m sure Favre and Bevell have talked within the past few months, but about what? It’s only a violation of NFL rules if the two held conversations about Favre playing for the Vikings — and I’d be shocked if they’ve actually entered serious discussions about that, given the sheer impossibility of a Favre-to-Minnesota scenario.
And that’s what makes these Bodog odds so strange. The online gambling company lists the Packers as Favre’s most likely home in 2008, as he has 3/2 odds of remaining in Green Bay for the season — however, the Vikes were second on the list, with 7/2 odds. The Buccaneers at 13/2 are looking a helluva lot better than the Vikings are, if you’re interested in placing a wager on Favre’s team for the 2008 season.
Finally, can someone please tell Greta Van Susteren that we’re the “Minnesota Vikings,” not the “Minneapolis Vikings?” Check out the 1:20 mark in the video below:

Hey. The Pack has filed tampering charges against the Vikings. Must be something to these conversations.

This is a nightmare. Farve just needs to disappear before he tarnishes his legacy.
