Report: Cooley to the IR today
DC 101 Radio reported this morning that TE Chris Cooley is expected to be place don the season ending injured reserve today. Cooley broke his foot a few games ago and originally expected to be back possibly within 4 to 5 weeks.
In reality though, with the Redskins starting at a 3-7 record and a non-favorable schedule awaiting, what’s the point in rushing your pro bowler back this season? It really makes little sense. This will also give the Redskins the rest of the season to evaluate 2008 second round pick Fred Davis for his future role wit the Redskins offense.
On the season, Cooley had caught 29 passes for 332 yards and 2 TD catches.  His last few games, his pass receptions went down as injuries mounted on the Redskins offensive line.  Cooley was injured in the redskisn 27-17 loss to Philadelphia.
Fred Davis took over for Cooley and has caught 23 psses for 223 yards and a TD. He is fourth overall on the Redskins offense in receptions
