VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!

Tomorrow is known as Super Tuesday. No, it isn’t super because the Ducks will be attempting to end their six game losing streak against the New York Islanders. It is “Super” because 24 states are holding their primaries and will be instrumental in helping to decide the presidential candidates for November. Regardless of your political party, it is important that if you are over the age of 18 that you are 1) registered to vote, and 2) that you actually exercise your voting rights.

Voting is a right and a privilege. There are many countries where democracy is still frowned upon and people who would love to have a voice simply do not. How many times have I seen articles on people waiting for hours in long lines and awful weather conditions just to cast their very first vote ever? In the United States, it’s an embarrassment. There are a lot of people eligible to vote who aren’t even registered. Those that are registered don’t bother to turn out. It is pathetic and shameful. There are no excuses.

How many young people could hardly wait until they turned 21 so they could legally purchase and drink alcohol, whether they drank or not? Why isn’t that sort of enthusiasm there for voting? It takes very little time to express an opinion. Every blog has an opinion - or two, or three! Why not express it at the voting booth as well?

We will sit for hours on end to watch a sporting event, but we cannot take five minutes to go to the polls? My rule has always been that you cannot complain about any law or rule if you did not vote. Every single vote counts and does make a difference. Pennies are not worth much until they are added together. Time to put in your $0.02 worth!

If the Ducks do defeat the Islanders, it will be great, but if you get out and vote, it will be SUPER!
