Tuesday Rundown: Is Darren McFadden The Next Shawn Kemp?

Your daily random roundup:

  • This isn’t sports related, but I still feel compelled to post it: There’s a good chance you’ve already seen this video, but in case you haven’t, do yourself a favor and click this link to view it. The basic premise: Jimmy Kimmel’s girlfriend, standup comedian Sarah Silverman, recently released a hilarious music video in which she bragged about cheating on Kimmel with Matt Damon. Well, Kimmel responded on Sunday night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live…and hilarity did indeed ensue. Sit back and enjoy the funniest video to hit the internets in 2008, folks.
  • Could there be some baby mama drama in the future for Darren McFadden? Indeed, if he keeps up his current pace of impregnating women, he could soon challenge Shawn Kemp’s title for “Biggest Amount of Paycheck Deducted for Child Support in Professional Sports History.” From the Atlanta Journal-Constitution: “McFadden is not only battling a paternity suit, but that he told a team during an interview Saturday night that he has two children on the way.” He ran a 4.27 forty-yard dash at the Combine, but it only takes his sperm 3.81 seconds to reach the egg.
  • Tony Kornheiser thought of an original approach to ripping bloggers on his Friday radio show. In addition to saying bloggers sit in their parents’ basement watching TV all day, he referred to the blogging community as “sucking mole rats,” and stated that “they make stuff up.” While I take exception to his claims, I’ll humor Tony for a second, and make some completely false, ridiculous assertions…after all, that’s how us bloggers spend our days, according to Kornheiser. So, in honor of TK, I present some ridiculous, preposterous statements that I simply made up: “Tony Kornheiser is great on Monday Night Football. ESPN should extend his contract. He’s a much better commentator than Ron Jaworski, and I always look forward to hearing his comments on the MNF broadcasts.”
  • I must bow down to MJD, who crafted a hilarious alternative to the Wonderlic Test at his Yahoo! NFL blog. My favorite question of the quiz: “20. Essay: Just write a complete sentence. If you can’t do that, just write down a word. Or your name. Try to spell it right. If that’s too much, draw a picture of something. Or don’t. Honestly, if you do anything other than chew on this portion of the paper, you’re going to be fine.”
  • I know it’s incredibly immature to laugh at someone if they have a funny last name. Peoples’ names are out of their control — therefore, it’s best for us to display understanding for someone who has a particularly unusual or unfortunate name. However, with that being said, I can’t help but be amazed at the utter ridiculousness of the name of a player who suffered a knee injury at the Combine: De’Cody Fagg. It’s unfortunate that his football career is likely over, as I’m sure the guys in an NFL locker room would have been extremely sensitive and compassionate towards him, despite his rather unusual name.
